🚩🚩 1. Naypyidaw People’s Defense Force Leadership Visits and Supports Frontline Fighters

The Naypyidaw People’s Defense Force (PDF) Regional Command, under the Ministry of Defense of the National Unity Government (NUG), announced that its leadership team visited frontline fighters who are jointly engaged in battles with allied forces. They met with the troops to encourage them and provided necessary supplies.

Those who joined the visit included Comrade Naung Cho, the regional commander of Naypyidaw PDF; security forces of the Naypyidaw Regional Office; Comrade Moe Kyoe, commander of Pyinmana Township PDF; and Comrade Sane, commander of Lewe Township PDF.

The statement also expressed special gratitude to Comrade Thar Tha Khin (Magway) for his significant contribution in providing material support to fulfill the fighters’ needs.

🚩🚩 2. Food Shortages Due to Junta Blockade of Trucks Demanding Road Access for PDFs in Kanbalu

According to the Kanbalu PDF (KBL-PDF), a convoy of goods trucks near Lwe Sae Jet Village in Kanbalu Township, Sagaing Region, staged a demonstration demanding the opening of roads for People’s Defense Forces (PDFs). However, the junta blocked the trucks along the road between Ngapyaungtaing Ywarthit and Buu Kone villages, under its control.

This blockade, which began on August 27, has caused food shortages. People from the convoy later entered PDF-controlled areas to buy food supplies.

A PDF fighter stated:

“We will never turn our guns against the people, under any circumstance.”

🚩🚩 3. Junta Column Ambushed by Snipers and Landmines in Paungde Township

According to PPDF Battalion 3601, on August 28 around 9:30 a.m., a junta column of about 80 troops from Kyaukkyee Taung Gate Camp in Paungde Township, Pyay District, Bago Region, advancing towards the main road, was attacked by the battalion’s sniper team. The attack killed one soldier and wounded one more.

The wounded and dead were carried back towards Kyaukkyee Taung, but later that afternoon, at about 3:40 p.m., a reinforcement unit of Division 21 under Light Infantry Battalion 3601 was ambushed between Panchit Taung Ywar and Nyaung Ni Pin villages with four directional landmines. The explosions caused serious injuries to five soldiers and minor injuries to four others.

The injured were carried by nine stretchers back to Kyaukkyee Taung Gate Camp, from where they were transported in a military truck to the 100-Bed Military Hospital in Shwe Taung Township.

The PDF reported that weapons and equipment seized from the site included 200 rounds of 5.56mm ammunitionone Inaga (grenade launcher round), and various other military supplies.

🚩🚩 4. Junta Airstrike Hits Church in Waingmaw Township

According to frontline sources, heavy clashes broke out on August 27 near Mokgyit Village, close to Lumyang in Waingmaw Township, Kachin State. During the fighting, the junta launched an airstrike targeting a local church.

Junta troops had been stationed at a Kachin Baptist Convention (KBC) church in Mokgyit Village. The Kachin Independence Army (KIA), together with allied forces, attacked them. In the battle, a junta battalion commander and about three other officers were reportedly injured.

Although junta troops were driven out of the church by the evening of August 27, they retaliated with an airstrike after their retreat.

It was also reported that armored vehicles from Myitkyina attempted to reinforce junta troops during the clashes, but KIA and allied forces advanced successfully and managed to capture some junta soldiers.

🚩🚩 5. Mother and Child Fleeing on Bicycle Killed by Junta Drone Bombing in Kyauktaga

According to Battalion 3801, Company 1 of Tharyarwaddy District, a mother and child fleeing on a bicycle were killed by a junta drone bombing in Daung Lay Village, Okpho Township, Kyauktaga Township, Bago Region.

On August 28, around 2:00 p.m., junta forces advanced towards the villages with four military trucks, while 120mm artillery fire was provided from the Ahlaykone Police Camp, targeting Daung Spakwin Village. In addition, bombs were dropped using drones.

Later that day, at around 4:44 p.m., junta forces stationed in Tain Myout Village dropped two drone bombs on Daung Lay Village, killing five-year-old Ma Myo Mya Mya and her 32-year-old mother, Daw Zin Mar Thin, when the bombs directly struck them.

Reports said the bombs exploded right on top of them, and instead of intact bodies, only scattered flesh fragments remained.

Due to the junta’s artillery shelling and drone bombings, residents from Daung Spakwin, Daung Lay, Kwe Chaung Gyi, Kwel Kyel, Kyok Ko Pin, Kone Gyi, Kone Kale, and Kyi Su villages have been forced to flee from their homes.

🚩🚩 6. Four Junta Soldiers Desert and Surrender to Resistance Forces in Tanintharyi

According to a statement from Strategic Operation Team 33, during a junta military column’s advance into Kawhline Village, Mayan Chaung Village, Mile 60 Village, and Thaya Mon Village in Yebyu Township, Tanintharyi Region, four junta soldiers deserted and were captured by allied resistance forces at a frontline position.

The four deserters have been taken into custody under the People’s Military Service Law enacted by the National Unity Government (NUG). They were identified as:

  • Private Nan Ko Ko (Infantry Battalion 409)
  • Private Zeyar Win a.k.a. Kyaw Win (Infantry Battalion 405, Tharyet Chaung)
  • Private Naing Lin Aung (Infantry Battalion 409, Kalein Aung)
  • Private Yan Naing Min a.k.a. Chit San Maung (Light Infantry Battalion 282, Kalein Aung)

The deserters stated that they had been forcibly conscripted under the junta’s illegal military service law, after being abducted, and given only two and a half months of basic training before being deployed to the frontline.

According to their testimonies, higher-ranking officers:

  • Ordered them unlawfully and placed them in the frontmost positions,
  • Forced them into combat under unfair commands,
  • Made them loot property from civilian homes, and
  • Involved them in the arrest, torture, and killing of civilians.

They further revealed that the junta units responsible for artillery attacks on villages, unlawful arrests, and civilian executions included:

  • Light Infantry Battalion (LIB) 282
  • Infantry Battalion (IB) 407
  • IB 408
  • IB 409
  • IB 410
  • LIB 273

The named officers involved in these atrocities were:

  • Major Soe Moe Kyaw, Deputy Battalion Commander, IB 409
  • Captain Kyaw Myo Khine, IB 409
  • Lieutenant Colonel Win Min Soe
  • Lieutenant Colonel Aung Phone Kyaw
  • Lieutenant Colonel Arkar Soe (LIB 282)
  • Major Kyaw San Htun (IB 407)
