🚩🚩 1. MNDAA Destroys 476 Illegal Weapons and Transfers 200 to China

The Myanmar National Democratic Alliance Army (MNDAA) announced that within its controlled area, the Special Region-1 police force destroyed 476 confiscated illegal firearms by burning, while transferring another 200 firearms to China.

The destruction ceremony was held on August 21, following the seizure of a total of 676 illegal firearms during a special operation. The operation aimed to suppress armed criminal activity in the Kokang region, strengthen weapons management, and contribute to stability in the border areas.

The stated purpose of the operation was to control the spread of illegal weapons in the region and to enhance overall security.

🚩🚩 2. KIA and KPDF Ambush Military and SNA Vehicle in Hpakant, Seize 5 Drones

According to military sources, on the afternoon of August 23, the Kachin Independence Army (KIA) and the Kachin People’s Defense Force (KPDF) jointly ambushed a vehicle carrying junta troops and SNA (Shan Nationalities Army) members near the Nam Ma River in Hpakant Township, Kachin State.

In the attack, the joint forces seized 4 combat drones, 1 reconnaissance drone, and the vehicle itself. Reports said junta soldiers and SNA members suffered casualties and retreated.

Meanwhile, junta forces that had entered Lone Khin village in Hpakant Township arrested six civilians: Ko Zaw Min Tun, Ko Myo Zin Tun, Ko Aung Shine Min, Ko Kyaw Zaw Htine, Ko Aung Myat Oo, and Ko Thuray Htet Naing. They have not yet been released.

Resistance groups also warned that junta soldiers have been disguising themselves in KPDF uniforms while operating inside Hpakant Township, in an attempt to create misunderstandings between revolutionary forces and civilians. They urged the public to pay close attention to the differences in weapons used by the junta and the resistance forces.

🚩🚩 3. Five Junta Troops Killed in Attack on Military Gate Post in Paungde Township

The Paungde Township People’s Defense Force (PPDF-3601) announced that five junta troops were killed and three captured alive when resistance forces raided and attacked a junta checkpoint camp in Paungde Township, Pyay District, Bago Region.

The raid occurred at 5:20 a.m. on August 15, when resistance fighters stormed a gate camp at Bauda village, which was manned by 42 junta troops.

During the battle, five junta soldiers were killed, three wounded, and three captured alive. Many others fled, abandoning the camp.

The resistance seized significant weapons and supplies: 2 MA-3 rifles, 1 MA-11 rifle, 1 Uzi submachine gun, 1 pistol, 2,765 rounds of mixed ammunition, 1 landmine, 13 magazines, 1 ICom radio, 4 mobile phones, 1 communication device, and various other military equipment.

The attack was jointly carried out by three PDF battalions: Pyay District Battalion-3601, Pyay District Battalion-3602, and Taungoo District Battalion-3501, under PDF Strategic Command (21).

Following the battle, at about 11:00 a.m. the junta retaliated using an aircraft, dropping a 300-pound bomb via gyrocopter. At 7:00 p.m., they conducted another airstrike using two paramotors, dropping four 300-pound bombs. These attacks killed six civilians and injured five others.

🚩🚩 4. Three Junta Soldiers’ Bodies and 10 Weapons Seized After 10 Days of Fighting in Kale

According to a statement from Military Region (1), resistance forces fought against junta troops for 10 consecutive days in Kale Township, Sagaing Region, after junta forces launched an offensive against Nan Saung Pu village.

From August 6 to 15, People’s Defense battalions and units attacked a junta column of more than 120 soldiers. As a result of the clashes, resistance forces recovered three junta soldiers’ bodies, captured one prisoner of war, and seized 10 weapons.

Reports also indicated that among the junta’s casualties were many forcibly conscripted Hindu Gaurakha men, who had been unlawfully recruited.

The seized items included: one MG-42, one BA-100, one MA-4, two MA-E, two MA-1, two MA-3, one G-3, two spare MG-42 barrels, five RPG rounds, 24 assorted magazines, 1,389 rounds of 5.56mm ammunition, 1,903 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, twelve 40mm grenades, five 14mm mines, one 84mm mortar shell, one Energa grenade, and one helmet.

The joint operation was carried out by: Special Operations Battalion (5), Special Operations Battalion (6), Kale District Battalion (4), Kale District Special Operation (PDF + PaKaHpa), Kale Township PaKaHpa, Kalewa Township PaKaHpa, Mingin Township PaKaHpa, and the PDF Zoland Drone Team.

🚩🚩 5. Three Monks Killed in Junta Airstrike on Monastery in Kyaikhto

An airstrike by the military junta on a monastery in Chan Myae village, Kyaikhto Township, Mon State, killed three monks and injured five others.

The bombing took place around 10:30 a.m. on August 24, during the monks’ alms-meal time, when a junta aircraft dropped a 300-pound bomb. The bomb directly struck the monastery’s dining hall.

Two monks were killed instantly, while five others sustained serious injuries. One of the wounded monks later died while being transported for medical treatment.

The monastery’s living quarters and dining facilities were also destroyed.

Local sources confirmed that there were neither KNU nor PDF troops present in Chan Myae village at the time of the attack, and no battle had taken place there.

🚩🚩 6. Forced Conscription Victim Defects to Resistance, Rescued by Spring Warriors

The Spring Warriors Column announced that a junta conscript, who had been forcibly recruited through the junta’s “lot-drawing” conscription system, reached out expressing his wish to defect to the resistance.

Ko Aung San Myint (recruit ID: 439) contacted Commander Mai Gyi of the Spring Warriors Column to declare his intention to defect. On August 13, Mai Gyi and his team rescued him. He defected together with his weapon and was rewarded with 1 million kyats and provided with full care and protection.

The Spring Warriors Column confirmed that with this latest case, a total of four junta conscripts forced into service through the lot-drawing system have successfully defected and joined the resistance.
