🚩🚩 1. About 20 junta soldiers killed in Ngape Township battle; weapons seized, says AA
August 16
The Arakan Army (AA) announced that in a half-hour battle near Sontaik Village, Ngape Township, Magway Region, around 20 junta soldiers were killed and various weapons, ammunition, and military supplies were seized.
The clash took place on August 14, in the afternoon, when forces from the junta’s notorious Light Infantry Division 99 launched an assault against AA positions.
The AA’s statement said the fascist junta troops, already suffering defeats and disgrace both domestically and internationally, are now retreating in disarray. The AA continues to pursue and crush these retreating forces.
The AA emphasized that they will not halt their operations until all of their strategic military objectives are fully achieved, and that final offensives to capture key towns are still ongoing in the areas where junta troops remain.
It further stated that along the Rohma mountain range and in border areas — Rakhine–Magway, Rakhine–Bago, and Rakhine–Ayeyarwady — as well as in other AA operational zones, battles have not subsided.
According to the AA, both defensive and offensive operations are being conducted daily — including guerrilla, mobile, and coordinated battles — to bring their military objectives into full effect.
The AA noted that since November 13, 2023, when they launched military operations across Rakhine, fighting has continued without pause for over one year and nine months up to the present day.
Currently, the AA has seized control of Paletwa in Chin State and 14 townships in Rakhine State, and is still fighting to capture the remaining Kyaukphyu and Sittwe townships.
