“In the fight to eradicate the military dictatorship, revolutionary forces must pay close attention to past weaknesses that have caused historical setbacks. We must understand and acknowledge differing circumstances, and take bold new steps to advance history. 📌📌 6. “Honour Those Who Gave Their Lives in 1988 by Keeping the Flame of Their Fierce Determination Burning,” Says Ko Htein Lin, Son of Daw Aung San Suu Kyi
August 8
Radio NUG
On August 8, Ko Htein Lin, the younger son of Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, wrote on social media:
“Honour those who gave their lives in 1988 by keeping the flame of their fierce determination burning.
In 1988, the people courageously rose up for freedom. Today, we pay our respects not only to those who fought bravely then, but also to those who continue the struggle today. My mother, Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, once said that ‘fearlessness is a virtue, but in the face of danger, striving to act despite fear holds even greater value.’
To all who are steadfastly fighting for Myanmar today—do not forget the legacy of unity from 8.8.88. The courage of all is resonating, without doubt, through every generation of Myanmar and across the world. Believe that one day, our dreams will be fully realised. Let us honour those who gave their lives in 1988 by keeping the flame of their fierce determination alive, and let us build the free and peaceful Myanmar they dreamed of.”
He further urged everyone to carry forward the spirit of 8.8.88 into the future.
These reports were contributed by Radio NUG correspondents Thar Ki and Khur Shel.
