The minister said this in the message sent to the graduation ceremony of the Special Military Education Training of the Tanintharyi Region Military Sub-Command held in August.

Young people lost their lives in Kachin State because of the collapse of the heap of waste material discarded by mining companies

“The mining companies discarded the waste material after they competed for mining. Mining is not allowed in residential areas. But when the land plots were sold, mining was also conducted in the residential areas. When all the lands were dug like that, the heap of waste material collapsed over time. Once it collapses, many people die. If you go and see, those include many young people,” Deputy Minister Daw Ei Thinzar Maung said.

Deputy Minister also said that environmental protection is poorly cared for by the businessmen, and most of the local residents suffer the effects.
