\nbook seeks to offer a female perspective on the history and political
\nevolution of Myanmar. It delves into the lives and works of four of
\nMyanmar\u2019s remarkable women who set aside their lives to answer the call
\nof their country. The Female Voice of Myanmar<\/i>
\nbreaks new ground in exploring their writing, both published and
\nhitherto unexamined, some in English and much of it in Burmese, while
\nthe intimate biographical sketches offer a glimpse into the Burmese home
\nand\u00a0shifting feminine image.<\/span><\/div>\n

Nilanjana
\nSengupta was a Visiting Scholar at the Asia Research Institute,
\nNational University of Singapore. She is the author of A Gentleman\u2019s
\nWord: The Legacy of Subhas Chandra Bose in Southeast Asia. Her research
\ninterests cover feminist awakening in Southeast Asia, cultural exchange
\nand mobility in ASEAN countries and questions of integration, identity
\nand hybridity of borrowed cultures.<\/span><\/div>\n
