Here are today\u2019s leading headlines:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Heavy fighting continues across <strong>Kachin, Karen, Magway and Sagaing<\/strong>, with reports of mounting military casualties and additional defections.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>More than <strong>120 airstrikes<\/strong> were reportedly carried out over four days in western Myaing Township as military forces remained surrounded by resistance groups.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Japan renewed its call for the immediate release of <strong>Daw Aung San Suu Kyi<\/strong> and all political prisoners, while ASEAN\u2019s Special Envoy announced plans to visit Myanmar later this year.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The <strong>Common Political Agreement (CPA)<\/strong> drafted by major revolutionary organizations was officially launched as a shared political framework for the Spring Revolution.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Heavy fighting reported across several regions<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Intense clashes continued in Kachin, Karen, Magway and Sagaing as military forces carried out major offensives against resistance-held areas.<br>In Kachin State and parts of Sagaing Region, fighting between junta forces, allied SNA units and KIA-led resistance groups reportedly continued on multiple fronts. Airstrikes also targeted villages in Shwegu Township and Mabein Township.<br>In southern Myawaddy, Karen State, heavy fighting persisted around Phalu and Lay Kay Kaw, where the military reportedly used airstrikes, drones and artillery. Two soldiers reportedly defected with their weapons, while additional troops were captured during recent clashes.<br>In Saw Township, Magway Region, resistance forces, including the Arakan Army (AA) and local groups, said they have resisted military offensives for about 60 days. They claimed significant military casualties during the fighting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Accidental shooting and security concerns within resistance areas<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Local sources said the death of Amar Maung, a township People&#8217;s Defense Team (Pa Ka Pha) leader in Taungtha Township, was caused by an accidental discharge during an argument between two resistance members rather than an assassination.<br>Separately, resistance groups warned that a woman previously associated with PDF members had allegedly switched sides and was attempting to lure resistance fighters into military traps.<br>In another incident, People&#8217;s Security Force (Pa La Pha) members in Indaw Township accidentally shot and killed a civilian while attempting to arrest suspected drug users. Local sources said compensation was provided to the victim&#8217;s family and the officer involved has been detained for investigation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Military column remains trapped as airstrikes intensify<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Resistance groups said a military column trapped in Thinma Village, western Myaing Township, has remained surrounded while the military launched more than <strong>120 airstrikes<\/strong> between July 27 and July 30.<br>According to local resistance records, fighter jets, Y-12 aircraft and Mi-35 helicopters conducted repeated bombing missions while also delivering ammunition and supplies by air.<br>Residents in surrounding villages have been urged to seek shelter as air attacks continue day and night.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Revolutionary groups adopt Common Political Agreement<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The National Unity Government (NUG), National Unity Consultative Council (NUCC), CRPH and other revolutionary organizations officially launched the <strong>first draft of the Common Political Agreement (CPA)<\/strong> on July 30.<br>The agreement, developed over more than two years with the participation of 26 organizations, is intended to serve as a shared political framework for the broader Spring Revolution.<br>Leaders involved in the process described the draft as a common political roadmap that participating organizations are encouraged to adopt and implement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Myanmar envoy highlights worsening humanitarian crisis<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Myanmar&#8217;s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Kyaw Moe Tun, told a UN meeting that the country&#8217;s growing number of internally displaced people has placed increasing pressure on urban areas.<br>He said more than <strong>3.7 million people<\/strong> have been displaced since the 2021 military takeover, while over <strong>120,000 homes<\/strong> have reportedly been destroyed. Citing UN-Habitat data, he noted that urban poverty in Yangon has risen sharply in recent years and called on the international community to continue supporting Myanmar&#8217;s democratic movement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Kim Aris renews call for proof of Daw Aung San Suu Kyi&#8217;s condition<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Kim Aris, the son of Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, said his mother has now spent more than <strong>2,000 days in detention<\/strong> without any independently verified evidence confirming her current condition.<br>He said he has repeatedly sought reliable information from governments and diplomats but has received no verifiable confirmation that she is alive. Kim called for credible proof of her condition and urged an end to what he described as continued secrecy surrounding her detention.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Report highlights sexual violence in Shan State<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Shan Women&#8217;s Action Network (SWAN) reported <strong>172 cases of sexual violence<\/strong> in Shan State, saying survivors continue to face major obstacles in obtaining justice.<br>According to the report, more than half of the cases involved domestic violence, while 70 rape or attempted rape cases included at least 30 child victims. The organization said both armed actors and civilian perpetrators were involved and called for stronger accountability and increased international pressure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Japan renews pressure on Myanmar military<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Japan again called for an immediate end to violence against civilians and the release of Daw Aung San Suu Kyi and all political prisoners.<br>Japanese Foreign Minister Toshimitsu Motegi said meaningful political dialogue involving all stakeholders remains essential for resolving Myanmar&#8217;s crisis. Japan also confirmed that it would continue supporting ASEAN&#8217;s Five-Point Consensus.<br>Meanwhile, ASEAN Special Envoy Othman Hashim announced plans to visit Myanmar later this year.
