m.CDM, 27 July<\/p>\n\n\n\n
At least 11 civilians were reportedly killed in airstrikes carried out by the military council in Sagaing Township, Paungbyin Township, Wetlet Township and Taungoo District in Bago Region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
At around midnight on 27 July, a fighter jet from Tada-U Air Base bombed a school in Taling Kyun Village, Sagaing Township.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A married couple, 45-year-old U Daung Lin and 44-year-old Daw San Lwin, were killed. Four school buildings and three homes were also damaged.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In another attack, the military carried out an airstrike on Lay Lar Myaung Village in the Bago Yoma area of Taungoo District, killing eight residents, according to the Bago Region Military Command.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
At around 12:30 p.m. on 25 July, a K-8W aircraft reportedly dropped two 250-pound bombs and fired machine guns about 10 times.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The victims were identified as U Zaw Wan, 52; Aye Thet, 41; Naw Sit, 18; Thar Sit, 13; Naw Dar, 8; U Htee Say, 38; Daw Than Nyunt, 27; and Bwe Noe Say, 7. They were members of two families.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In Paungbyin Township, residents said the military fired artillery and dropped at least 15 bombs from K-8 aircraft despite there being no fighting in the area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
At around 9:52 a.m. on 26 July, artillery fired from military vessels seriously wounded a 21-year-old gold-mining worker.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Between 4:11 p.m. and 6:37 p.m., fighter jets reportedly dropped at least 15 more bombs, killing one woman.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Wetlet Informational Network also reported that two JF-17 fighter jets carried out two airstrikes in eastern Wetlet Township. The extent of the damage is still being investigated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Arakan People\u2019s Revolutionary Government\u2019s Department of Law Enforcement and Public Security says three main suspects have been arrested in connection with the rape and murder of a 23-year-old woman in Ponnagyun Township, Rakhine State.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The case was opened after the woman\u2019s body was discovered on 22 July in a mango orchard near Tanswe Village. She had been missing since 18 July and was a resident of Aung Seik Village.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to investigators, the main suspect admitted luring the victim away under the pretext of discussing a social matter before raping and killing her. Two other suspects also provided statements related to the case.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Authorities said the suspects would be brought to trial as soon as possible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Meanwhile, in Saw Township, Magway Region, two civilians were killed in a drone-bomb attack by military forces advancing into Kyan Khin Village.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
At around 2 p.m. on 26 July, three civilians were injured. A three-year-old child and one man later died from their injuries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
At around 11:47 a.m. on 27 July, a fighter jet from Magway Air Base reportedly fired rockets and machine guns at another location in Saw Township.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
From about 12:47 p.m. to 1:40 p.m., a Y-12 aircraft also reportedly dropped more than 40 bombs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

m.CDM, 27 July<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Myaing Garuda PDF says it captured two police officers with weapons and ammunition after they became separated from a military column in Myaing Township, Magway Region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The two officers, from Police Battalion 11, became lost in the forest for about seven days after separating from a military column of around 600 troops advancing from Pakokku-based Division 101 toward Htauk Sha Pin Village.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On 7 July, suffering from hunger and illness, the two reportedly asked a local resident for rice. Myaing Garuda PDF then received information and launched a search.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The group said it captured the two officers with one MA-2 rifle, one MA-12 rifle and more than 300 rounds of ammunition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The military column they had accompanied had reportedly entered a village on 2 July to burn homes but suffered casualties from a landmine and withdrew.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
During subsequent clearance operations, resistance forces also reportedly seized one MA-3 rifle and other military equipment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Separately, in Myothit Township, Tamu District, an SNA soldier under the military council defected with his weapon, according to Tamu District Battalion 2.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The soldier, Moe Htet Aung, also known as Moe Htet, served with Battalion 3 of SNA Brigade 891 and was stationed in Kyun Pin Thar Village.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He contacted resistance forces and defected on 17 July, bringing an AK-47 rifle, four magazines, ammunition, landmines and hand grenades.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He was reportedly awarded 6 million kyat in recognition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

m.CDM, 27 July<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Arakan Army has reportedly cleared 67 landmines planted by military forces and extremist armed groups in Maungdaw Township, Rakhine State.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On 25 July, AA mine-clearance teams worked along village roads connecting Muslim villages including Zula, Horitala, Italia and Zantila.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
They reportedly discovered and removed 67 M-14 anti-personnel mines in a single day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Arakan Princess Media reported that the mines had been planted during earlier fighting by military council troops and extremist armed groups.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On 4 July, the AA also reportedly removed 35 landmines planted in Maungdaw Township.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The AA continues to clear landmines and unexploded remnants of war from roads, forests and former military positions across Maungdaw District.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Arakan People\u2019s Revolutionary Government has also been conducting public mine-awareness campaigns, installing warning signs and distributing educational leaflets throughout Rakhine State.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

m.CDM, 27 July<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Kachin State Council of Civil Disobedience Movement Civil Servants, or KSCCSC, says it will provide recognition and financial support to CDM staff with health-related needs and those who have reached age 60.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The council held its seventh general meeting of 2026 online at 2 p.m. on 26 July to discuss future operations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Members unanimously approved a new executive committee for the council\u2019s second term. A formal handover ceremony is scheduled for 4 August.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The meeting also set a timetable for closing and auditing the council\u2019s annual financial accounts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
KSCCSC said assistance for CDM workers with medical needs and those aged 60 would be completed before the financial accounts are closed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The council also assigned responsibilities for preparing its annual activity report and organizing the handover ceremony.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The meeting was attended by the chairperson, vice-chairperson, secretary, finance committee, audit team, office staff, election committee, executive members and council representatives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

NUG Foreign Minister Daw Zin Mar Aung attended a hearing on Myanmar organized by the Burma Research Institute in Washington, D.C.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The eighth BRI hearing on Myanmar was held on 24 July. Daw Zin Mar Aung attended together with adviser U Moe Zaw Oo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Participants discussed online scams, regional stability, trade and investment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Daw Zin Mar Aung delivered the keynote address and exchanged views with those attending the event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Meanwhile, the NUG Representative Office in Japan will organize a meeting between Myanmar nationals living in Japan and those working toward the establishment of a federal union.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The event will take place on 8 August from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Ochiai Daiichi Community Center in Shinjuku, Tokyo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Myanmar nationals in Japan have been invited to attend, ask questions and share suggestions with representatives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Chinland Council held the third meeting of its second term from 23 to 25 July and adopted a number of future plans.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Representatives from the parliamentary group, township and regional groups, and the Chin National Front attended.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The council reviewed and approved reports from the legislative, executive and judicial branches, as well as reports from local governments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Members also assessed the current military and political situation and discussed strengthening administrative institutions and advancing Chin national unity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The council warned that the military is using various methods to legitimize a government formed according to its own interests.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It said the military is increasing its offensives while also using foreign pressure to pursue separate talks with individual resistance organizations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Chinland Council said that if the military genuinely wants a political solution, it must stop airstrikes on civilians, allow humanitarian assistance, end forced recruitment and release all political prisoners unconditionally.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It also urged resistance forces to respect the will of the people, avoid actions that could legitimize the military council and continue fulfilling their responsibilities to the revolution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

More than 200 invited guests, teachers and students attended the fourth freshman welcoming ceremony of Myanmar Nway-Oo University, or MNOU.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The ceremony was held on 26 July from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and was divided into two sessions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The first session began with welcoming remarks from the university chancellor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Deputy Union Minister of Education, the vice-chancellor, senior academics and Dr. Moe San, Education Minister of the Sagaing Federal Unit, delivered messages to the new students.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A senior student also gave congratulatory remarks, while a junior student delivered a message of thanks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The second session included poetry, songs, performances, short plays and quiz programs presented by students.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A special memorial program was also held for Ko El Thar from the University of Education and Ko Leon from the National University of Computer Studies. Participants recited a poem, observed one minute of silence and offered prayers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The ceremony concluded with remarks from the head of the Public Relations Department.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
MNOU expressed appreciation to the organizing committee, the Public Relations Department and everyone who helped make the ceremony possible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

India\u2019s ambassador to Myanmar, Abhay Thakur, reportedly said that Myanmar nationals currently sheltering in India would not be forcibly deported until they can safely return to their home areas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He made the remarks on 26 July during a meeting with community leaders from Falam and Tedim at Theim Hotel in Kalay.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Around 85,000 Myanmar nationals are currently believed to be sheltering in India.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The ambassador was in Kalay to discuss the India-Myanmar-Thailand Trilateral Highway and met Chin community representatives, officials and Christian religious leaders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
One participant said the ambassador expressed India\u2019s desire to continue cooperating with Chin communities once genuine stability returns to Chin State.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Representatives from the Chin side requested humanitarian assistance for displaced people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
They also explained the current situation in Chin State and the hardships faced by residents displaced to Kalay.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Dr. Run Bik said about 2,000 households from 42 villages in Falam Township had been displaced and were unable to carry out agricultural work. He requested humanitarian support for the affected communities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Justice For Myanmar has called on international oil-service companies to suspend payments to the military council and responsibly halt their operations in Myanmar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
JFM said companies involved in oil and gas projects should suspend payments to the military and place the funds in secure accounts. If this is not possible, they should withdraw responsibly from Myanmar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Burma Campaign UK has added 11 international oil-service companies to its \u201cDirty List.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The listed companies are accused of being linked to the Myanmar military or connected to human rights abuses and environmental damage in the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Oil-service companies provide essential equipment and services to Myanmar\u2019s oil and gas sector, including drilling, maintenance and supply operations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
JFM said these activities help maintain the flow of oil and gas revenue to the military council and risk making the companies complicit in international crimes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Myanmar\u2019s oil and gas sector remains a major source of revenue for the military.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The military uses this income to purchase weapons, aviation fuel and other military supplies used in alleged war crimes and crimes against humanity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The military council continues to control the sector through the state-owned Myanma Oil and Gas Enterprise, or MOGE, collecting taxes, license fees and profit shares from oil and gas projects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

ASEAN Parliamentarians for Human Rights, or APHR, has urged ASEAN to publicly release clear benchmarks for addressing the Myanmar crisis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The group said the benchmarks should be based on the Five-Point Consensus and should include measurable indicators and regular assessments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
APHR issued a statement on 27 July calling on ASEAN to impose consequences on the military council for failing to comply with the Five-Point Consensus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The group said progress toward inclusive political dialogue should be measured through engagement with elected representatives from the 2020 election, ethnic resistance organizations and civil-society groups.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
APHR also said access to Daw Aung San Suu Kyi should be made a mandatory condition before ASEAN engages further with the military council.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
APHR co-chair and former Malaysian parliamentarian Charles Santiago said the Five-Point Consensus remains the basic framework for achieving an inclusive and sustainable political solution in Myanmar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
However, he said ASEAN must demonstrate that non-compliance has consequences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Santiago said repeatedly reaffirming the Five-Point Consensus is not the same as implementing it, and that after five years there has been no verifiable progress.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
APHR welcomed the decision at the 59th ASEAN Foreign Ministers\u2019 Meeting to continue excluding Myanmar from high-level political representation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
However, it warned that the military council is gradually gaining legitimacy without facing meaningful consequences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
