From now on, we will present m.CDM\u2019s domestic news updates.<br>Today\u2019s reports include clashes in Magway Region where 10 military commission troops were reportedly killed and weapons seized; incidents in Salin, Paungde, and Buthidaung involving shootings and airstrikes; warnings for residents in Pauk Township as a military column enters the area; developments in Arakan where the AA is preparing its own banking system, launching the first Arakkha lottery, and introducing Arakanese reading lessons for Grade 12 students in areas under its control; and other news.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Ten military commission troops reportedly killed in Magway clashes; weapons seized<br>According to the Ministry of Defence under the National Unity Government, three clashes took place in Magway Region between June 23 and June 30, leaving 10 military commission troops dead.<br>On June 23, near Zaung Taw Kan village in Chauk Township, a military column from Infantry Battalion 13 was ambushed by a Magway District defense column. Five soldiers were reportedly killed, many wounded, and one attack drone destroyed.<br>On June 26 and 27, military columns entering Lay Pin Kone village in Chauk Township were attacked with landmines and ambush mines by local defense forces. Reinforcement troops were also intercepted, reportedly resulting in another five deaths and many injuries.<br>The defense forces said they seized one MA-1 rifle, one MA-4 rifle, 577 rounds of 5.56 mm ammunition, six magazines, five 60 mm shells, two 40 mm shells, military equipment, and 10 mobile phones.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Woman shot dead in Salin; civilians killed and injured in airstrikes in Paungde and Buthidaung<br>In Sin Phyu Kyun town, Salin Township, Magway Region, a military commission soldier reportedly under the influence of drugs entered the home of a woman named Ma Nwe Ni Oo, aged over 40, and shot her dead after an argument on June 30.<br>Local residents said the victim had been cooking meals for soldiers. The soldier, identified as Than Zin from a military unit stationed in Thayet Chin village, was reportedly arrested by the military, which then spread claims that the killing had been carried out by PDF members.<br>Meanwhile, on July 1, two fighter jets bombed an area between Taung Khamauk and Letpan Khone villages in Paungde Township, Bago Region, despite there being no fighting nearby. A resident, U San Myint, was killed by bomb fragments.<br>In Buthidaung Township, Arakan State, the military also carried out airstrikes using two fighter jets and one Y-12 aircraft. Two bombs landed near paddy fields close to Wa Chi La village, seriously injuring an 11-year-old child.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Military claims recapture of Kanan village; chemical bombs reportedly used in Thantlang<br>The military commission announced on July 1 that it had retaken Kanan village near Khampat town on the Kalay\u2013Tamu road in Sagaing Region. However, local and military sources said fighting remains intense around the village and that the military has not yet fully secured the area.<br>In Chin State, fighting in Thantlang, which began on June 10, has continued for more than 20 days. CDF-Thantlang said the military has been using chemical bombs containing toxic gas, suicide drones, and heavy drones as resistance forces gain the upper hand.<br>CDF-Thantlang reported that fighters exposed to the gas experienced dizziness, vomiting, and illness. It also said CDF fighter Salai Bia Tak Lian was killed during intense fighting on June 30. Resistance forces reportedly still control most of Thantlang, while the military remains stationed in about 10 locations, including the police station in the town center.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Military-linked commandos attacked in Chauk<br>In Chauk Township, Magway Region, resistance forces attacked a military group including police commandos and Pyu Saw Htee members who were allegedly extorting money from travelers and drivers at gunpoint. The Thakhin Pho Hla Gyi Column said four members of the military side were killed and seven injured in the June 29 attack.<br>The fighting lasted about 30 minutes. Resistance forces withdrew after military reinforcements arrived, and no weapons were seized. The operation was carried out jointly by Magway District PDF units and allied local defense groups.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Residents warned as military column enters Pauk Township<br>The Anya Myay Civil Society Organization\u2013Myaing warned residents along the Pathein\u2013Monywa road in Pauk Township to prepare in advance after a large military column entered the area.<br>The column, reportedly made up of about 400 troops from Pakokku-based Division 101 and seven supply trucks, spent the night in Yay Htwet Gyi village on June 30 and continued moving the next morning. It may be heading toward Yay Pyar camp or toward Industrial Zone 2, the group said.<br>The same column is accused of burning Myit Chay town, killing more than 40 civilians, and killing at least six civilians in Myaing Township. Around 2,000 people from 10 villages in Pauk Township have reportedly fled.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Kantbalu authorities urge residents near the Irrawaddy River to temporarily evacuate<br>The Kantbalu Township People\u2019s Administration urged residents living within five miles of the Irrawaddy River to temporarily move to safer places, as around 20 military vessels led by two warships are reportedly moving upriver to reinforce Bhamo in Kachin State.<br>Authorities warned that military vessels often fire indiscriminately along riverbanks and that airstrikes have also occurred along the river route. Two warships that came from Mandalay\u2019s Gaw Wein port were reportedly anchored near Shein Ma Kar military camp in Wetlet Township.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Yinnmabin District command officials temporarily suspended<br>The PDF Military Headquarters announced that Yinnmabin District command officials, including the district commander, have been temporarily suspended following the killing of Battalion Commander Ye Baw Pearl Maung of Yinnmabin District Battalion 6.<br>The alleged shooter, Ye Baw Nga Phyo, has been detained at the central military prison. A court of inquiry was formed under Order No. 228\/2026 on June 27. To ensure the investigation is free from local influence, the suspended officials were brought under Sagaing Region military command supervision and disarmed.<br>During the investigation, battalions under Yinnmabin District command will be directly supervised by the Sagaing Region military command. Further legal proceedings may follow depending on the findings.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Mobye PDF issues travel warning for Shan\u2013Karenni border areas<br>The Mobye People\u2019s Defense Force warned civilians not to travel to areas along the Shan\u2013Karenni border due to security concerns. The warning covers Nam Mae Khon, Lwe Wain, the foothills of Lwe Yin, and the Khaung Wan road area.<br>The group also urged people to avoid night travel, avoid gathering in dangerous locations, and remain alert to artillery, drones, and aircraft. The warned areas have recently seen fighting and military column movements.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>CCSC SFU urges revolutionary forces to focus on shared goals<br>The Sagaing Federal Unit CDM Civil Servants Council urged all revolutionary forces to focus on the shared objectives of ending military dictatorship and building a federal democratic union.<br>The statement was issued in response to incidents including the assassination of a battalion commander in Yinnmabin District and deadly raids on public security camps in Monywa Township. CCSC SFU warned that resolving internal disputes through armed force undermines the revolution\u2019s goals and risks creating a new authoritarian path.<br>The council called on all revolutionary actors to resolve disputes through dialogue, mutual respect, legal principles, and federal democratic values rather than violence.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>AA expands administrative systems in Arakan<br>The Arakan Army and the Arakan People\u2019s Revolutionary Government are continuing to expand civilian administration in areas under their control.<br>As part of efforts to build a local financial system, the AA has begun recruiting 26 banking staff, including township supervisors, assistant supervisors, and marketing staff. Applicants must submit forms by August 11 and selected candidates must serve for at least three years. Requirements mention QR payment systems and mobile applications, suggesting preparations for mobile banking and QR payment services.<br>The Arakan administration also launched its first \u201cArakkha Lottery\u201d on July 1. The first prize of 50 million kyats went to Daw Ma Than Yee from Kyauktaw. A total of 39 prizes were awarded. The AA said 50 percent of lottery revenue would be returned as prizes and the rest used for health, education, and social development.<br>In education, Grade 12 Burmese reading lessons in AA-controlled areas are being replaced with Arakanese reading lessons beginning in the 2026\u20132027 school year. The lessons will cover Arakan history, literature, culture, and works by Arakanese writers, while other subjects will continue under the existing curriculum.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>More than 100,000 deaths recorded since the coup; ISEAS warns over financial controls<br>ACLED reported on July 1 that more than 100,000 people have died in armed conflict-related violence in Myanmar since the February 2021 coup. Its latest data puts the death toll at 100,114.<br>UN figures also show more than 3.7 million internally displaced people, while more than one in five people face food insecurity. ACLED warned that with over 1,200 armed groups active nationwide, the danger to civilians is increasing.<br>Separately, Singapore-based ISEAS\u2013Yusof Ishak Institute warned that the military commission is using anti-money laundering and counter-terror financing rules as political tools to control the financial flows of citizens, opposition groups, NGOs, and civil society organizations.<br>The report said the military is cracking down on hundi money-transfer networks under the banner of anti-money laundering enforcement, while forcing people and businesses into military-controlled banking channels to control foreign currency flows.
