From now on, we will present m.CDM’s domestic news.

Today’s reports include clashes between the PLA and PDF forces, military advances in Magway and Sagaing, arrests linked to betrayal and criminal activity, flooding in Kachin State, the burial of Daw Aung San Suu Kyi’s beloved dog Taichito, and Myanmar’s continued blacklisting by the FATF.

According to a June 22 statement from the NUG Ministry of Defense’s PDF headquarters, four PDF fighters were killed after mines exploded at former PLA camp sites in Taungtha Township, Myingyan District, Mandalay Region. The statement also said a civilian driver, identified under the pseudonym U Than, had been detained by PLA members without informing local PDF and Pa Ka Pha forces. His vehicle, motorcycles, household documents, certificates, and one million kyats were allegedly taken. PLA reportedly demanded 200 million kyats from his wife and later released him, but he was found unconscious with injuries. The seized items had not yet been returned at the time of the statement.

In Magway Region, regime forces reportedly seized several resistance camps in Yenangyaung and Natmauk townships. Although resistance fighters withdrew without casualties, some weapons, ammunition, and supplies were captured. In Shwegu, Kachin State, artillery fire by regime forces killed another civilian, bringing recent civilian deaths from shelling and killings in the area to several people.

In Sintgaing Township, a deserter named Zatoe, accused of betraying the local PDF by reconnecting with the military, was arrested. The PDF said his defection had exposed their locations, leading to drone and artillery attacks by regime forces.

In Chauk Township, the Gwaypin police station chief was reportedly shot dead in an ambush, while another officer was seriously injured. Local resistance forces said the operation targeted officers accused of extortion, arbitrary arrests, and forced porter recruitment.

The KNU also reported that KNLA Battalion 8 attacked a military camp of Light Infantry Battalion 439 in Mu Township and seized three rifles. Separately, 16 conscripted soldiers reportedly defected to KNDO Battalion 3 in Ler Doh Township.

In Danu Region, a robbery suspect was arrested after a group allegedly used the name of a local resistance battalion to commit robberies. The battalion said the suspects were minors involved in online gambling and drug use, and that they spread false information to damage trust between resistance groups and civilians.

Heavy rains have caused flooding in Hpakant, Mogaung, and Namti in Kachin State. In Hpakant, a 59-year-old man died after a landslide struck his house. NUG’s humanitarian ministry warned people in flood- and landslide-prone areas to remain alert.

Daw Aung San Suu Kyi’s beloved dog, Taichito, was buried inside the compound of House No. 54 on June 22. Her son, Kim Aris, wrote that Taichito had been more than a companion to his mother and represented a piece of love he was able to leave with her during a painful separation. He again called for his mother’s release and for her family to be allowed to see her.

People Movement Platform Myanmar strongly condemned the regime’s arrests and mistreatment of people who took part in the Rose Campaign marking Daw Aung San Suu Kyi’s 81st birthday. The group said the public had shown resilience and unity in demanding the release of political prisoners, the abolition of forced conscription, and the restoration of democracy.

The FATF has kept Myanmar on its blacklist for failures in combating money laundering and terrorist financing. At its June 19 meeting in Paris, Myanmar remained listed alongside North Korea and Iran. Meanwhile, UNODC has identified Myanmar as the world’s largest producer of methamphetamine, linking drug production, cybercrime, online scams, and money laundering to the wider instability caused by armed conflict.

Thailand has begun issuing official registration cards to eligible Myanmar refugees along the Thai-Myanmar border. The cards include biometric data and QR codes and are intended to improve protection, access, and self-reliance for refugees. UNHCR described the move as a historic step.

Mingalabar. From now on, we will present m.CDM’s domestic news.
