We now present the domestic news from m.CDM.

Today’s headlines include intensified fighting in Pauk Township, where more than 80 junta troops were reportedly killed and prisoners of war and weapons were captured; killings and mass displacement in Myitche; the SCEF delegation’s visit to Canada; and Timor-Leste President José Ramos-Horta’s proposal to appoint a retired four-star ASEAN general as a special envoy for Myanmar.

In Pauk Township, Magway Region, heavy clashes continue between junta forces and revolutionary groups around the Yaw area. A junta column of around 400 troops from Ka Pa Sa-24 was attacked on May 13 by the Yaw Army, PLA, and allied forces. After reinforcements of about 900 troops arrived on May 22, more than 100 clashes reportedly took place. Revolutionary forces said over 80 junta troops were killed, more than 100 wounded, and some prisoners and weapons captured. They also accused junta troops of using civilians as human shields, burning homes, looting property, and bombing displaced people.

In Kachin State, the junta is reportedly reinforcing troops across several areas and preparing new military operations. KIO/KIA sources said junta forces carried out airstrikes on Bhamo on May 28, while clashes also intensified in Shwegu Township. Fighting has continued along areas including Shwegu, Nga-O, Mabein, Katha, Nabar, Mawlu, and Mawhan, with drone and artillery attacks reported in Bhamo and Hpakant.

In Myitche, Pakokku Township, a junta and Pyu Saw Htee joint column reportedly killed 25 civilians within 20 days and burned more than 200 homes. Since May 10, the column has attacked Myitche and nearby villages, including the burning of Myitche’s main market on May 26. Around 80,000 people from Myitche and nearly 30 surrounding villages have fled, with concerns rising over health risks amid heavy rain.

In Gangaw and Phaungbyin, four members of junta-linked forces reportedly defected. One newly conscripted soldier from LIB-50 in Gangaw surrendered with an MA-1 rifle, magazines, and ammunition, receiving a reward of 5 million kyats. Three SNA soldiers from Brigade 753 also joined resistance forces, citing discrimination, abuse, and broken promises by the junta-aligned side.

A delegation from the Steering Council for the Establishment of a Federal Democratic Union (SCEF), led by NUG Foreign Minister Daw Zin Mar Aung, arrived in Canada for a diplomatic visit. The delegation includes representatives from the KNU, KNPP, and NUG. Observers said the visit highlights the Spring Revolution as a broad federal-democratic alliance rather than a single-organization movement. The delegation also held a town hall meeting in Canada on May 29.

At the Shangri-La Dialogue in Singapore, Timor-Leste President José Ramos-Horta proposed appointing a retired four-star general from an ASEAN country as a special envoy for Myanmar. He said the envoy should help secure humanitarian access, reduce suffering, mediate the crisis, and support implementation of ASEAN’s Five-Point Consensus. He described Myanmar’s crisis as a stain on ASEAN and said no side appeared likely to win militarily.

The Arakan Army (AA) sent a congratulatory message to the Karenni Nationalities Defense Force (KNDF) on its fifth anniversary. The AA praised the KNDF for continuing to resist the junta, capturing towns in Karenni areas, and establishing local administrative mechanisms during the five years of revolution.

The Strategic Coordination Force (SIF) strongly condemned the Indian government for referring to junta leader Min Aung Hlaing as “President” in an official statement. SIF said the move helped legitimize the coup and rejected any relationship that grants legitimacy to the military regime. The group also criticized India’s support for election-related technologies used by the junta.

In Namkham Township, northern Shan State, an explosion at a TNLA explosives storage site in Kaung Tat village reportedly killed at least 55 civilians, including 25 women and 30 men, with many more injured. TNLA said the blast involved explosives stored for quarrying purposes and apologized to affected families. It said an investigation would be conducted and responsible persons would be dealt with under the law.

Finally, local revolutionary groups warned civilians not to use the Saw–Kangyi–Kyauktu and Mindat–Kangyi–Kyauktu road sections due to junta troop movements and military tensions along the Yaw–Mindat border area. They urged people to avoid military columns, stay in safer locations, and remain alert to artillery fire and airstrikes.

These reports were provided by Ko Thit and Lu Lay.

Good day.
