Above this “committee of ten,” a policy leadership body will provide direct command.

Previously, groups operated separately, but now decisive senior leaders will make unified decisions and carry out military operations in a more compact and coordinated way.

NUG Union Minister Dr. Zaw Wai Soe also said revolutionary forces are becoming stronger through unified leadership rather than remaining fragmented.

He said that although the military commission is carrying out major propaganda claiming it can retake towns, revolutionary forces have strategically withdrawn from some towns to minimize civilian and soldier casualties, and are continuing resistance operations.

SCEF is also increasing its international diplomatic efforts. While the NUG and ethnic organizations previously spoke separately, they can now issue statements with one unified voice.

This unified stance reportedly had an impact at the ASEAN Summit and helped prevent ASEAN’s position from drifting off course.

SCEF’s international relations team is also preparing representative activities in Canada and seeking meetings with China and India.

Revolutionary forces ambush 300-strong military column in Ngathayauk

m.CDM, May 27

In Ngathayauk, Nyaung-U Township, Mandalay Region, revolutionary forces ambushed a 300-strong military commission column, causing heavy losses and reportedly breaking up the column.

At around 10:30 a.m. on May 24, military commission troops entered near Falankan village in three separate columns. Joint revolutionary forces launched a close-range ambush.

During two hours of fighting, 17 soldiers and Pyu Saw Htee members were killed on the spot, while more than 50 were seriously injured. Four more reportedly died later after being transported to Nyaung-U and Kyaukpadaung hospitals using forcibly commandeered civilian vehicles.

More than 20 troops reportedly fled in panic. The operation involved Nyaung-U Township Pa-Ka-Fa groups, district battalions, special attack units and allied guerrilla forces.

After suffering losses, the military column entered nearby Kutaw village and burned homes, destroying nearly 300 houses.

The column has not yet left the Ngathayauk area, and local defense forces have urged residents to secretly report suspicious strangers.

Ye Belu camp bombed; many casualties but leader escapes

m.CDM, May 27

The Ye Belu resistance camp in Ye Township, Mon State, was destroyed after the military launched airstrikes using Y-12 aircraft and fighter jets at around 1 a.m. on May 27.

Local sources said around 20 bombs were dropped on the camp, causing significant casualties among resistance fighters. So far, seven bodies have reportedly been recovered and about 20 people wounded.

The group’s leader, Ye Belu, reportedly escaped because he was traveling at the time of the attack. Pro-military Telegram channels claimed he had been killed, but he later posted on social media, implying that he was still alive.

The Ye Belu group has been active against the military and its administrative machinery in Ye Township.

Air, drone and landmine attacks kill civilians in Sagaing and Bago

m.CDM, May 27

In Sagaing and Bago regions, military commission air and drone attacks killed nine civilians, including three children.

On May 27 at around 12:15 p.m., suicide drones launched from the Northwestern Command attacked near Hlawkar village on the Monywa–Amyint road in Chaung-U Township. The KNU also reported that a fighter jet from Taungoo airbase dropped two bombs on Pa Pe In village in Kyaukkyi Township on May 26, damaging a civilian home.

Separately, in Kan Thit village, Monywa Township, a displaced family of three returning to their village stepped on a landmine planted by military troops on May 22. A five-year-old child and both parents were killed instantly.

According to Landmine and Cluster Munition Monitor, Myanmar recorded 2,029 landmine casualties in 2024, the highest number in the world.

Conflict between Mingin Pa-Ah-Pha and SRF wounds two civilians

m.CDM, May 26

In Mingin Township, Sagaing Region, tensions escalated between the NUG-affiliated People’s Administration Team and the Student Revolutionary Force. It denied shooting directly at civilians, saying warning shots were fired into the air.

SRF, however, said the arrest happened after a meeting had been arranged through Zoom with NUG defense officials and local defense leaders. It accused the Pa-Ka-Fa side of ambushing and forcibly arresting its members.

SRF said 16 members, including its chair, have been detained and called on NUG and NUCC to intervene urgently.

Pakokku-based LIB 252 attacked with shock rockets

m.CDM, May 27

COBRA ONE Pakokku, a heavy weapons unit under Pakokku Township Pa-Ka-Fa, said it attacked the military’s Light Infantry Battalion 252 in Pakokku Township on May 25 at around 11 p.m. using three shock rockets.

One rocket reportedly exploded near the battalion’s ammunition storage area, causing panic inside the base and prompting troops to shut off electricity.

Casualties could not be confirmed, but the group said seven soldiers fled after the attack.

Mine attack on military column near Linkataw kills about 15 soldiers

m.CDM, May 27

In Myaing Township, Magway Region, local resistance forces attacked a military column based at Linkataw camp that had been burning civilian homes in nearby villages.

When the soldiers returned toward Linkataw, resistance forces detonated mines at the Linkataw junction.
