We will now present m.CDM’s domestic news.

Today’s reports include warnings about factionalism within revolutionary forces, intense fighting near Sanae town in Kyaukphyu, junta air and artillery attacks in several townships, calls for action against Thales over alleged radar sales to the Myanmar military, and other developments.

First, Karenni Army Chief of Staff Brigadier General Aung Myat warned that forming factions and dividing people as “our side” and “their side” could destroy the revolution. Speaking at the graduation ceremony of KA Basic Military Training Batch 77 on May 19, he urged revolutionary forces not to build personal factions or favoritism networks. Around 400 people, including KA members, KNDF fighters, local residents, and trainees, reportedly attended the ceremony.

In Rakhine State, fighting has intensified near Sanae town in Kyaukphyu Township, which is under Arakha Army control. Military Commission troops that advanced from the Taung Maw Gyi naval base reportedly suffered heavy losses after being surrounded and counterattacked by the AA, forcing them to retreat toward the naval base. The AA is said to be attacking near the base and shelling it with heavy weapons. On May 19, junta aircraft bombed Shwe Hintha Ward in Sanae, destroying at least 100 homes, while shelling from naval vessels caused civilian casualties and displaced tens of thousands of people from more than 10 villages.

In Chin State, Chin joint forces withdrew from Tonzang town on the evening of May 19 after offensives by junta troops and the ZRA-EC. Around 600 combined troops reportedly launched the attack on May 11 in four columns. Due to heavy airstrikes, drone attacks, and encirclement, the Chin forces temporarily withdrew. Two Chin fighters were killed, and five displaced civilians from Lon Zan village were reportedly detained. Tonzang had been under Chin resistance control since May 2024, making it the second town, after Falam, to be lost within a month.

The Military Commission also carried out air and artillery attacks in Palaw, Budalin, Kyaukkyi, Mindat, Myaing, and Pauk townships. In Palaw, one civilian was killed by a paramotor bombing. In Budalin, two displaced civilians were killed and four injured when a bomb hit their vehicle. In Kyaukkyi, a 75-year-old man was killed by artillery fire. Mindat, Myaing, and villages in Pauk Township were also attacked by aircraft, paramotors, and gyrocopters, with local groups warning civilians to remain alert to airstrike risks.

In Hpakant Township, Kachin State, junta troops and militia forces reportedly burned Hmaw Wan Lay village early on May 20. The number of houses destroyed remains unknown because troops are still stationed in the village. Local sources said residents from nearby villages have been displaced for more than a year, while troops have allegedly looted civilian property. Military attacks in Hpakant over the past year have reportedly killed 137 civilians and injured nearly 400.

In Magway Region, revolutionary forces said they mine-attacked a military convoy carrying 250-pound aircraft bombs from Ka Pa Sa 21 in Seikphyu Township on May 16 and 17. Eight soldiers were reportedly killed, three seriously injured, and two military vehicles burned. The convoy included 13 military vehicles and was attacked on the Saw-Seikphyu road by Pakokku District Battalion 19 and Battalion 4.

Justice For Myanmar called on French authorities to investigate Thales for allegedly selling six Coast Watch 100 maritime surveillance radars to the Myanmar military between 2017 and 2020 for 16 million euros, in possible violation of EU sanctions. JFM said Ky-Tha Trading, linked to the Kyaw Thaung family, acted as an intermediary, and urged the US, EU, UK, Canada, and Australia to impose stronger sanctions on the junta’s arms-broker networks.
The NUG Human Rights Ministry also provided refresher training on military ethics and international humanitarian law for resistance groups. The five-day online training was attended by 25 township-level human rights trainers from Sagaing and Magway. Separately, graduation ceremonies were held by PDF Naypyidaw Region Battalion 803 and CDF-Thantlang.

The Demoso People’s Defense Force held an event marking five years since its first armed battle and honored the families of fallen fighters with photos, military pendants, and support funds. Its leadership urged fighters to understand politics better and remain alert to enemy attempts to divide the revolution.

The ULA/AA strongly rejected a Human Rights Watch report accusing the AA of killing at least 170 Rohingya civilians, including 90 children, in Htan Shauk Khan village in Buthidaung Township in May 2024. AA spokesperson U Khaing Thukha called the report baseless and fabricated, saying it could fuel ethnic and religious hatred.

In Pandaung Township, Bago Region, AA and allied forces reportedly seized 3.2 million WY stimulant tablets from two men near Oakshitpin. Authorities said the drugs belonged to two individuals allegedly connected to the military. The case has been opened under drug-related laws, and further investigation is underway.

Finally, the NUG’s Ministry of Social Affairs, Labour and Humanitarian Affairs warned that southern Myanmar could face localized heavy rain, landslides, flash floods, strong winds, and rough seas as the southwest monsoon enters Mon State, Tanintharyi Region, and southern coastal areas. Residents, fishermen, vessels, and people in landslide-prone areas were urged to closely monitor weather warnings.

These reports were sent by Ko Thit and Lu Lay.

Hello.
