Here are today\u2019s domestic news updates from m.CDM.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Today\u2019s headlines include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>* Myanmar communities in London, together with Daw Aung San Suu Kyi\u2019s son Kim Aris, demanded proof that she is alive and well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>* The AA launched attacks on junta troops landing near Kyaukphyu, while junta forces suffered losses in fighting near Indaw.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>* Two junta columns were hit by resistance landmine attacks in Yinmabin, killing five soldiers including an officer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>* In Aungban, the military auctioned the home of a revolutionary policewoman, while a Myanmar drug kingpin was arrested in Delhi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2e3b<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>1. London \u201cProof of Life\u201d Campaign for Daw Aung San Suu Kyi<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Myanmar communities in the UK held a \u201cProof of Life\u201d protest in front of the UK Parliament on May 17, demanding credible evidence that Daw Aung San Suu Kyi is alive and healthy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The event was attended by her son Kim Aris, NUG representatives, ethnic community leaders, and revolutionary families in the UK.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Participants called on the UK government and international community to pressure the Myanmar junta to allow family visits and provide proof of her condition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Similar campaigns were also held in the Netherlands, Australia, and Germany.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2e3b<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>2. Two Junta Soldiers Defect to KNLA Alliance<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Two soldiers from junta Light Infantry Battalion 244 defected without weapons to KNLA Brigade 4 and allied resistance forces in Tanintharyi Region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to KNU Myeik-Dawei District, the soldiers defected on April 24.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Records from People\u2019s Goal indicate that more than 3,100 junta personnel have surrendered, defected, or been captured since January 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2e3b<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>3. Heavy Fighting in Kyaukphyu and Indaw<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Arakan Army (AA) is reportedly attacking junta troops that landed near Kyaukphyu from naval vessels.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The junta had launched a large offensive toward Sane town to secure the Kyaukphyu-Ramree road, but resistance attacks forced the troops into defensive positions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Fighting remains intense, with the junta using jet fighters and Y-12 aircraft for air support. Nearly 50,000 civilians have reportedly been displaced.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Meanwhile, resistance forces near Indaw continue attacking junta troops using FPV drones and other tactics, causing casualties and capturing weapons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2e3b<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>4. Junta Columns Hit by Landmines in Yinmabin<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Resistance forces attacked two junta columns in Yinmabin Township on May 17.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The ambush targeted more than 200 junta troops moving between Yinmabin and the Wanbao copper mining area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Resistance groups said five junta personnel, including an officer, were killed and several others injured.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Despite heavy retaliatory fire from the military, resistance fighters reportedly withdrew safely.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2e3b<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>5. Junta Airstrikes Kill Civilian and Injure Five<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The junta carried out airstrikes in Karen, Tanintharyi, Magway, and Chin regions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In Hpa-an Township, a jet fighter bombed Mae Baw Khee village, killing a 19-year-old displaced woman and injuring five civilians, including two children.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Additional airstrikes and gyrocopter attacks were reported in Maw Taung, Pauk, Myaing, and Mindat townships.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>KNU urged ASEAN and the international community to take action against the junta\u2019s attacks on civilians.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2e3b<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>6. Warning Issued Over Saw\u2013Kyaukhtu Road<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Saw Township People\u2019s Administration warned civilians not to travel along the Laung Shay\u2013Saw\u2013Kyaukhtu road unless absolutely necessary due to ongoing junta military operations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Residents were advised to avoid military columns and take shelter in bomb-resistant bunkers if needed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2e3b<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>7. Aid Delivered to Displaced Families in Nattalin<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The NUG and donors provided more than 87 million kyats in assistance to over 400 displaced households in Nattalin Township, Bago Region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The aid distribution was organized by resistance and local defense forces.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Officials said more support is still urgently needed for remaining displaced families.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2e3b<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>8. EU Provides \u20ac8 Million for Myanmar Food Crisis<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The European Union announced \u20ac8 million in support through the World Food Programme to address Myanmar\u2019s worsening food crisis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Rising fuel prices and inflation have sharply increased food costs across the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to WFP, around 12.4 million people in Myanmar are facing hunger, while 3.7 million have been displaced by conflict.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2e3b<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>9. Revolutionary Policewoman\u2019s Home Auctioned, Drug Kingpin Arrested<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The junta reportedly auctioned a historic resistance-related home in Aungban for 350 million kyats.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The house belonged to revolutionary policewoman Daw Win Mya Thwe, also known as Ma Ni.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Separately, Indian authorities arrested an alleged Myanmar drug kingpin in Delhi accused of trafficking methamphetamine and heroin across India and Bangladesh.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Indian investigators said the drug network was worth around 1.2 billion rupees.<\/p>\n\n\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Hello everyone.
