Military-aligned militia threatens forced displacement of residents in Yekyichaung area<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>4. Blood Money Campaign urges the Czech government to halt aircraft sales to Myanmar military<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2014 along with other updates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2e3b<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>1. SCEF meets Sagaing Federal Unit leaders online<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to a statement, the Steering Committee for the Emergence of a Federal Democratic Union (SCEF) held an online meeting with the Sagaing Federal Unit\u2019s parliament and interim government on May 13.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Attendees from SCEF included members of the secretariat, coordinator Dr. Zaw Wai Soe, and associate coordinator Salai Ram Kulh Cung.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>From the Sagaing side, participants included Parliament Speaker U Myint Htwe, Interim Chief Minister U Soe Oo, and other officials.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During the meeting, SCEF representatives explained their ongoing activities, while Sagaing leaders presented updates on their own operations. They also discussed Sagaing\u2019s participation in SCEF\u2019s federal unit pillar and future cooperation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The meeting concluded successfully with closing remarks from both sides.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2e3b<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>2. CDF-Hakha arrests militia member involved in crimes against civilians<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>CDF-Hakha announced on May 14 that it had arrested a militia member linked to the military junta who was allegedly extorting money and committing robberies in Hakha, Chin State.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The suspect was detained on May 13 inside Hakha. Authorities warned residents to avoid unnecessary travel to remote or conflict-prone areas due to the current security situation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>CDF-Hakha stated it will continue prioritizing civilian safety and take action against those threatening the public. Residents are encouraged to report suspicious activity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2e3b<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>3. Kuki rights group condemns village burning<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Kuki Women\u2019s Human Rights Organization (KWHRO) strongly condemned the burning of Molnoi Kuki village in northern Sagaing Region by the Naga armed group NSCN-IM.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The attack occurred on May 12, destroying 13 \u0d35\u0d40\u0d1f houses. It was reportedly linked to tensions stemming from an incident in Manipur, India.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>KWHRO stated the attack appeared intended to incite ethnic conflict targeting Kuki communities. They emphasized that Kuki and Naga communities have long coexisted in both India and Myanmar and condemned attacks on civilians.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2e3b<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>4. Two junta personnel killed in Kalay; airstrikes reported in Indaw<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In Kalay, Sagaing Region, resistance forces reportedly shot and killed a warrant officer and a soldier on May 12 after identifying them during a security check.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The officer was allegedly known for extortion and forced recruitment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Meanwhile, clashes intensified in Indaw Township on May 13, where resistance forces attacked a military column. The junta later carried out retaliatory airstrikes using jet fighters, dropping bombs on nearby villages.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2e3b<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>5. Four forcibly recruited soldiers defect<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Four newly recruited soldiers who were forcibly conscripted have defected in Magway and Bago Regions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Two defectors from Chauk Township surrendered on May 11 with weapons and ammunition. Two others from a Bago-based unit also defected unarmed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>They reportedly fled due to unwillingness to serve under unjust orders and were received by resistance forces.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to records, over 3,100 individuals\u2014including defectors and prisoners of war\u2014have left junta forces between January 2025 and early May 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2e3b<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>6. Landmine attack on military column in Magway<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A military column moving from Natmauk to Yamethin was hit by a landmine attack on May 14, reportedly causing significant casualties.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Resistance forces said they used five mines to target the convoy near the township border after waiting for the column to enter the strike zone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The military had reportedly been conducting drone strikes and threatening civilians prior to the attack.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2e3b<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>7. Airstrikes and displacement increase<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Junta forces carried out air and drone strikes in Chaung-U (Sagaing) and Mawtaung (Tanintharyi) on May 14.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A school building in Chaung-U was damaged, though no civilian casualties were reported. In Mawtaung, airstrikes forced residents from at least nine villages to flee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In Kyaukphyu, Rakhine State, ongoing clashes between the military and the Arakan Army have displaced nearly 50,000 people, with urgent needs for shelter and food.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2e3b<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>8. Forced displacement threats in Kachin<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In Tanai Township, Kachin State, military-backed militia groups have reportedly ordered residents of Yekyichaung and nearby areas to relocate, threatening to burn homes if they refuse.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Local sources say the move is linked to ongoing clashes with KIA forces, as militias attempt to secure civilian \u0645\u0646\u0627\u0637\u0642 for military positioning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2e3b<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>9. KNU holds youth training camp<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Karen National Union (KNU) successfully held its third Summer Youth Camp in Myeik-Dawei District.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The six-week program, held from March 23 to May 1, included 63 youth participants from several townships and was organized by Karen youth groups.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2e3b<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>10.
