We now present m.CDM’s domestic news.

Today’s reports include the NUG’s strong condemnation of the junta’s remarks on ASEAN and elections; PDF attacks on junta and Pyu Saw Htee posts in Okpho and Letpadan; civilian casualties in Myingyan, Ngazun, Taungtha, and Natogyi; and urgent needs for food and shelter among more than 1,000 displaced people in Hpruso.

1. NUG strongly condemns junta’s comments on ASEAN and elections

m.CDM, May 11
The National Unity Government (NUG) strongly condemned the junta’s criticism that ASEAN and the international community are excluding it, saying such remarks are politically dishonest.
The NUG said it is deeply contradictory for military leaders—who destroyed the 2020 election result through a violent power grab—to now demand respect for election outcomes.
It added that as long as the junta continues arresting leaders, silencing the media, and killing civilians, its claim that it is protecting democracy is completely unacceptable.
The NUG also said ASEAN’s exclusion of the junta is not baseless. Rather, it is because the junta has failed to implement the ASEAN Five-Point Consensus, refused political dialogue, and continued violence against the people.
The NUG stressed that political legitimacy cannot be created through sham elections held under force and repression. A genuine election requires freedom of expression, voter safety, and public trust—none of which exist under the current military regime.

It urged ASEAN, the United Nations, and the wider international community not to recognize the junta’s attempts to gain legitimacy or its fake elections, and instead to continue supporting the Myanmar people’s aspiration for federal democracy.

2. NUG says nearly 140 civilians were killed by junta airstrikes in April

m.CDM, May 11
The NUG Ministry of Human Rights said the junta, while trying to deceive the international community with a fake government and fake parliament, continued targeting civilians with airstrikes in April, killing 138 civilians.
According to the ministry, the junta committed 456 human rights violations in April, including 178 airstrikes. These attacks killed 138 civilians and injured 203 others.
The ministry said its video report shows how brutally the junta continues committing human rights abuses against civilians even while trying to present itself internationally through fake institutions.
The report also said the junta continued mass killings and destruction of civilian property. In April alone, 589 homes, 11 schools, 18 religious buildings, and seven health facilities were damaged or destroyed.
One of the worst incidents highlighted was the military raid on Phet Pin Ai village in Myingyan Township, Mandalay Region, between April 1 and 4. Junta troops reportedly killed civilians and burned homes and other civilian property.
Around 300 junta soldiers and Pyu Saw Htee members raided the village, killing eight civilians and three revolutionary fighters. The bodies of those killed were reportedly not returned to their families but were burned.
The ministry also said junta forces used a drone to attack family members carrying the body of a deceased mother, killing her son. More than 200 civilian homes and other public property were also reportedly burned.
Although the junta announced an amnesty for more than 3,000 prisoners to seek international recognition, the NUG said only a small number were political prisoners, while most were ordinary criminal prisoners.

The ministry added that the junta has continued airstrikes targeting civilians into May.

3.
