Revolutionary forces capture the strategically important Aung Chan Thar base in Kalewa Township

m.CDM, April 27

It has been reported that revolutionary joint forces captured the strategically important junta outpost based in Aung Chan Thar Village, Kalewa Township, Sagaing Region.

The base was attacked by joint forces of the People’s Defense Force (PDF) and Pa Ka Pha. Although the junta used extensive air support in its defense, the revolutionary forces were able to completely seize the camp on April 26.

The base is located along the road linking Kalewa Township with the interior of Sagaing Region, and is said to be important both militarily and for civilian travel.

After losing the camp, junta troops reportedly retreated toward Sin Ain Ma village, a Pyu Saw Htee militia village, according to local residents.

At present, revolutionary forces are continuing area-clearing operations. Relevant resistance forces are expected to release further details regarding casualties on both sides and weapons seized.

In addition, the Ye-U–Kalewa (Maha Myaing) road section, which had been temporarily closed because of fighting, was reopened starting April 26, according to an announcement by Kalewa Township Pa Ka Pha.

2. KNLA and allied forces capture the junta’s Kabawtu base in Hpapun District and seize weapons and ammunition

m.CDM, April 27

According to a local military source, the terrorist military’s Kabawtu base in Luthaw Township, Hpapun District, in KNU Brigade 5 territory, was captured on April 25 by allied forces including the KNLA/KNDO and PDF, and weapons and ammunition were seized.

During the battle to capture the Kabawtu camp, allied forces reportedly seized between 15 and 20 small arms from junta troops, as well as two machine guns and one 60 mm mortar.

In addition, hundreds of landmines and hand grenades were reportedly seized, along with RPG rounds and a large quantity of other military supplies.

The Kabawtu base is located between Hpapun and Kamamaung, and is said to be a key point for the junta’s transportation, troop reinforcement, and territorial security.

The base had reportedly been occupied by the military since around 1997. It was first captured by the KNU on September 9, 2021, after the coup, but because KNU forces later withdrew, the military reoccupied and fortified the position. According to military records, the allied resistance forces attacked and recaptured it again for the safety of local civilians.

Before the coup, there were 78 military camps in Mutraw District, part of KNU’s Kawthoolei administrative territory. Since the military seized power under Min Aung Hlaing, the KNLA and allied resistance forces have captured 68 of them.

At present, only around 10 junta positions remain, including the Hpapun strategic base. The military is reportedly reinforcing its forces with its subordinate BGF units, so tensions remain high.

3. Junta column expanding toward Sumprabum ambushed; heavily hit and broken apart

m.CDM, April 26

Local sources say that a junta military column advancing to expand territory toward Sumprabum in northern Kachin State’s Putao Township was ambushed by KIA and allied forces, suffering heavy losses and breaking apart.

The column, with about 70 troops, was attacked by KIA and allied forces on April 26.

The ambush took place near Wadat Village, where fighting broke out between the two sides.

According to field sources cited by 7Stars News, because KIA and allied forces had prepared and waited in advance, the junta column of over 70 troops was badly hit, completely disorganized, and scattered in retreat.

The attack was reportedly led by Battalion 7 under KIA Brigade 1.

Military records also state that the military base in Sumprabum was completely captured in 2022 by KIA and allied forces, and that the whole area was then brought under the KIO administrative system.

4. KIA and allied forces seize two SNA bases in Mohnyin; fighting intensifies in Hpakant, Pale, and Falam

m.CDM, April 27

It has been reported that KIA and SSIA joint forces captured two bases belonging to the junta-aligned SNA (Shanni) in Mohnyin Township, Kachin State.

Two of the three SNA camps near Ohn San Sai Village were captured on April 23, and area-clearing operations are still continuing.

The SSIA, which fought alongside the KIA, is said to be a Shanni armed group that emerged during the Spring Revolution.

In addition, in Lone Khin area of Hpakant Township, junta troops are reportedly building bunkers and preparing to fortify their positions, while revolutionary joint forces are surrounding and attacking them.

Similarly, fierce fighting has reportedly been ongoing for nearly three months near the border of Yinmabin and Pale townships in Sagaing Region, as the junta has launched an offensive with around 700 troops.

On April 21, junta troops reportedly burned down Kaing Twin Village, and currently more than 10,000 local residents from around 20 villages are being displaced in urgent wartime conditions amid harsh weather.

In Chin State’s Falam Township, fighting near the Surbung airfield reportedly left more than 30 junta troops seriously wounded, and they had to be sent to the military hospital in Kalay.

After suffering losses, junta troops reportedly raided Var camp village in Falam Township and burned down the AG church and at least six houses.

5. PDF-TRI Strategy expels 35 members for disciplinary violations and blacklists them

m.CDM, April 27

The People’s Defense Force PDF-TRI Strategy announced on the morning of April 27 that it had expelled 35 members and placed them on a blacklist.

They were expelled and blacklisted for violating military regulations set by the force.

According to PDF-TRI’s statement, the expelled members committed acts of betrayal such as abandoning comrades on the front line, stealing military property, embezzling funds, surrendering to the enemy, sending point/location information that enabled airstrikes, and persuading other comrades to surrender to the enemy.

PDF-TRI stated that those who violated its disciplinary code were permanently expelled in accordance with procedures, designated as deserters and traitors to the revolution, and blacklisted.

It also announced that the TRI Strategy would no longer take responsibility for any work-related matters involving them, and that severe and effective legal or disciplinary action would be taken in relation to their crimes and punishments.

This came after the junta had propagated on April 24 that over 500 members of armed resistance groups active in Mandalay Region, including TRI Strategy, had defected with weapons.

PDF-TRI also urged the public to continue supporting resistance fighters, saying that the revolutionary journey must continue until the goal is reached, and that comrades serving on duty need both strong morale and public understanding and support so their morale and service are not undermined.

6. Clashes between resistance forces in Mobye leave 9 dead; Karenni military leadership investigating

m.CDM, April 27

It has been reported that clashes broke out between revolutionary forces in the Mobye area of Pekhon Township, southern Shan State, resulting in the deaths of nine people.

The clash occurred on April 24 at Peking Market, about 16 miles west of Mobye town, between the Mobye Local PDF led by Ko Aung Min and units under Military Region Alpha No. (1) (Mobye area).

During the fighting, nine members of the Mobye Local PDF, including Ko Aung Min, were killed and two were injured, while three personnel from Alpha Military Region were also injured, according to people close to the matter.

At the same time, a Mobye Local PDF base near Lapin Nwe Village, about nine miles southwest of Mobye, was reportedly raided by forces under Alpha Military Region, who captured some members alive and seized weapons and ammunition.

The Mobye Local PDF led by Bo Aung Min had previously served under the NUG Ministry of Defense’s Southern Shan PDF Battalion 1001, but was currently operating independently.

Alpha Military Region No. (1) was reportedly only formed on April 28, bringing together KNDF, local defense groups, and PDF Battalions 1001 and 1007 under the leadership of the IEC and KNDF.

Before the clashes, local residents said Ko Aung Min had been involved in a land dispute with a member of the IEC’s Pekhon Township Administrative Council and had committed physical assault.

It is reported that the Karenni Joint Military Command Committee is handling the incident, while the Kayan National League has issued a statement expressing sorrow over the deaths and urging restraint to prevent such incidents from happening again.

7. “To Sagaing” campaign delivers body armor and helmets for Sagaing Region PDFs

m.CDM, April 27

It has been reported that the “To Sagaing” campaign delivered protective equipment for PDF battalions and units under the command of the NUG Ministry of Defense’s Sagaing Regional Military Command.

According to a statement by the Ministry of Defense, frontline units received supplies including body armor and helmets on April 27.

The NUG Ministry of Defense also officially thanked Forward Myanmar and revolutionary supporters for providing the assistance.

In addition, it stated that PDF battalions and units are continuing to be trained and equipped so they can become disciplined and systematically armed forces that follow military rules and law.

8. MSFC Humanitarian and Rescue Department provides blankets, mosquito nets, and mats to displaced civilians in Bilin Township

m.CDM, April 27

The Mon State Federal Council (MSFC) Humanitarian and Rescue Department announced on April 27 that it had provided blankets, mosquito nets, and mats to war-displaced civilians in Bilin Township.

Because thousands of local residents in Bilin Township, in northern Mon State, were left homeless due to airstrikes by the terrorist military in March and April, the MSFC Humanitarian and Rescue Department provided non-food assistance to displaced civilians.

The department said it spent about a week purchasing the needed mosquito nets, blankets, and mats so it could distribute them household by household to displaced civilians in the Phoe War Thein village tract of Bilin Township.

According to reports, the department provided these materials to 348 displaced households.

The Humanitarian and Rescue Department is under the Mon State Federal Council’s Administrative Committee and has previously also delivered rice, money, and non-food assistance to displaced civilians in Mon State as well as nearby Karen State and Tanintharyi Region.

9.
