Today\u2019s news includes the following headlines, along with other related reports:<\/div>\n
1. At least five people, including two children, were killed due to airstrikes and heavy artillery attacks by the military junta in Bilin, Thayetchaung, Kyaukkyi, Mohnyin, Wetlet, and Kawlin townships.<\/div>\n
2. A CDM schoolteacher from Kyauktaga Township was killed during fighting.<\/div>\n
3. The Central Regional Military Command, where the junta leader was staying, was attacked with 107mm rockets.<\/div>\n
4. Facebook (Meta) removed 270 accounts linked to the Myanmar military\u2019s businesses and propaganda operations.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

1. At Least Five Killed, Including Two Children, in Junta Air and Artillery Attacks Across Multiple Townships<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

\n
In Alu Gyi Village, Bilin Township, Mon State, three people\u2014including a four-year-old child\u2014were killed after being hit by artillery fired by junta forces, according to local residents.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
At around 1:00 p.m. on January 26, an artillery shell fired from Infantry Battalion No. 3 based in Bilin reportedly landed on the home of U Pe Si, located on the western side of Alu Gyi Village.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
The explosion killed U Pe Si, his wife, and their four-year-old granddaughter. His daughter was also injured by shrapnel to the shoulder.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
Separately, in Tanintharyi Region\u2019s Dawei District, Thayetchaung Township, junta forces carried out an airstrike using jet fighters near a football field on the eastern bank of Faung Taw at around 4:30 p.m., dropping two bombs.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
Similarly, on the evening of January 25, a jet fighter from the Taungoo Air Base dropped six bombs on Kwee La Village in Kyaukkyi Township, Nyaunglebin District, Bago Region.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
As a result of the bombing, a seven-year-old child named Saw Eh Law La Moo was killed. Three other children\u2014aged 13, 11, and 9\u2014were injured.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
In Mohnyin Township, Kachin State, junta forces also bombed two clinics in the Indawgyi area. One female patient reportedly died from shock.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
On January 27 at around 10:00 a.m., a drone bomb attack was launched from the Sa Taung military base, injuring one man and one woman.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
Likewise, in eastern Kawlin Township, junta forces conducted airstrikes at around 1:30 p.m. using one jet fighter and two kamikaze drones against several villages.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

2. CDM Schoolteacher from Kyauktaga Township Killed in Fighting<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

\n
A schoolteacher from Kyauktaga Township, Bago Region, who had joined the Civil Disobedience Movement (CDM), was killed in combat, according to a statement released on January 27 by the Kyauktaga Township Education Board.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
The fallen teacher, U Bo Bo Ko Hlaing, was a primary school teacher at Thugyi Gyi (Ywa Thit) Basic Education Middle School. He was also serving as a People\u2019s Defense Force (PDF) member and was killed on January 25 while carrying out defense duties.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
The Kyauktaga Township Education Board honored him as a CDM education hero, stating that remaining educators would continue the unfinished struggle to uproot military dictatorship and uphold people\u2019s education.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
Since January 12, clashes have continued between junta troops and resistance forces near Kyaing Khar Kone Village, close to the old Yangon\u2013Mandalay road in Pe Nwe Kone town, Kyauktaga Township.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

3. Central Regional Military Command Attacked with 107mm Rockets<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n

\n
The Central Regional Military Command headquarters, where coup leader Min Aung Hlaing was reportedly staying, was attacked with 107mm rockets, according to a statement by Brave Warriors for Myanmar (BWM).<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
At around 4:30 a.m. on January 27, BWM, together with No More Dictatorship (NMD-PDF), Shadow (Mandalay), and Infinity (Anyar) groups, fired five rockets. Three successfully hit the target.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
The rockets exploded inside the headquarters compound and reportedly struck the regional commander\u2019s residence. Casualty details are still under investigation.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
According to reports, Min Aung Hlaing had visited polling stations in Mandalay and was staying at the headquarters to perform astrological rituals. The attack was carried out overnight as BWM Mission 50.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
At 4:41 a.m., Min Aung Hlaing was reportedly preparing to enter Mandalay Palace via the Mingalar Bridge while dressed in ceremonial attire.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

4. Ponnagyun Youth Organization Condemns Junta Airstrike on Public Service Center<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

\n
The Ponnagyun Youth Association (PYA) strongly condemned the junta\u2019s bombing of a public service center opened by the Arakan People\u2019s Revolutionary Government.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
On January 26 at midnight, junta forces bombed a location in Ponnagyun Township used by civilians for internet access. PYA denounced the attack as a deliberate assault on civilians.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
At around 1:20 a.m. on January 27, junta jet fighters dropped one 500-lb bomb and two 300-lb bombs near Pakwet Seik Village.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
The organization stated that the attack targeted a civilian facility intended to help Arakan people communicate with relatives abroad and conduct financial transactions, calling it an extremely reprehensible act.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
Junta forces also simultaneously bombed areas near Division Headquarters No. 9 in Minbya Township and Pakwet Seik Village, according to local sources.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

5. Over Seven Junta Troops Killed in Fighting Between Valung and Zawnglei Villages<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Fighting broke out between junta forces and Chin regional joint defense forces between Valung and Zawnglei villages in Falam Township, Chin State. More than seven junta soldiers were reportedly killed.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
The clash occurred on January 26 as Chin defense forces intercepted junta reinforcements advancing toward Falam.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
During the fighting, a house in Valung Village was burned down, and bodies of deceased soldiers were reportedly burned inside.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
Since early November 2025, junta forces have launched offensives using 800\u20131,000 troops along the Thaingning\u2013Falam and Webula\u2013Falam routes to retake the town from the Chin National Organization (CNO) and Chin National Defense Force (CNDF).<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

6. Black Leopard Column Unit 2 Honors Fallen and Active Fighters<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n

\n
Black Leopard Column Unit 2, operating in Karen State, issued a statement on January 26 honoring fallen martyrs, veteran fighters, and those still actively fighting against the military dictatorship.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
The statement marked the fourth anniversary of the column\u2019s founding and detailed its participation in numerous battles, including operations in Myawaddy, Kawkareik, Lay Kay Kaw, Phlu, and Min Let Pan areas.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
The unit reaffirmed its commitment to continue fighting alongside allied resistance forces under the leadership of Strategy 32 Commander Brigadier General Thura Dabar until the establishment of a federal union and the complete eradication of dictatorship.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

7. Warning Issued to Farmers in Myaing Township Not to Stockpile Crops<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Due to junta troops burning villages and destroying agricultural products in Myaing Township, Pakokku District, Magway Region, the Anyar Land Civil Society Organization \u2013 Myaing urged farmers to sell their crops rather than store them.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
The junta has reportedly burned homes and agricultural produce. Farmers in eastern and southeastern Myaing Township were advised not to stockpile beans, sesame, or other crops.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
On January 15, crops stored by farmers were burned during a junta raid on Hnaw Pin Village, causing significant losses.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
A junta column of around 200 troops entered Twin Ma Pyu Village on January 26 and advanced westward on January 27 toward Zaw Gyi Taung and Tha Palyu Kone Village in Pakokku Township, prompting warnings for civilians to secure important documents and remain vigilant.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Since the third week of January, airstrikes and ground offensives have forced thousands of civilians to flee.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

8. NUG Ministry of Education Releases Fourth University Admission Guide<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

The National Unity Government (NUG) Ministry of Education released the fourth edition of its university admission guide, allowing eligible students to enroll in institutions located along the Bangladesh, India, and Thailand border areas.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Admissions are open for the 2026\u20132027 academic year to students who:<\/div>\n
\u2022 Passed high school in 2020 or earlier<\/div>\n
\u2022 Hold internationally recognized certificates (e.g., IGCSE, GED, SAT)<\/div>\n
\u2022 Completed ethnic education programs<\/div>\n
\u2022 Hold BECA certificates (G-11 old & G-12 new)<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

9. Myanmar Communities in Korea, Japan, and Australia Submit Statement Opposing Junta\u2019s Sham Election<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Myanmar communities in South Korea, Japan, and Australia jointly submitted a statement opposing the junta\u2019s sham election to the South Korean Presidential Office, according to the NUG Representative Office \u2013 Republic of Korea.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

A press conference was held outside the Presidential Office on the morning of January 27.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
The statement called on international governments to reject the junta\u2019s election results, increase engagement with the NUG, and provide practical humanitarian assistance.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
The event was organized by a coalition of 40 Myanmar revolutionary organizations in Korea, with participation from Korean civil society groups.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

10. Facebook (Meta) Removes 270 Myanmar Military-Linked Accounts<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Facebook\u2019s parent company Meta removed a total of 270 pages, accounts, and groups linked to Myanmar military-controlled businesses and propaganda operations, according to Justice For Myanmar.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Most removed accounts were selling Mytel products and services. Others were linked to military conglomerates MEC and MEHL, including MECtel, Innwa Bank, Myawaddy Bank, Sin Min Cement, Myanmar Beer, Dagon Beer, Nann Myint Caf\u00e9, and Indoor Skydiving.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Propaganda pages such as A Light for Justice 3, News Service Station, and Myanmar Information Community were also removed.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
The action followed Meta\u2019s policy implemented in 2021 to ban military-controlled businesses and media.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
Justice For Myanmar also urged Alphabet, Apple, TikTok, and Telegram to immediately ban Myanmar military propaganda and business accounts.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

At the Myanmar Stakeholder Engagement Meeting (SEM) chaired by the Philippines as ASEAN\u2019s 2026 chair, Myanmar stakeholders urged ASEAN to urgently reduce violence, prioritize civilian protection, and ensure unobstructed humanitarian access.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

The meeting addressed political, humanitarian, and security conditions following the 2021 coup and included participation from NUG, NUCC, CRPH, ABSDF, CNF, KNU, and other organizations.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Stakeholders highlighted escalating airstrikes, artillery attacks, forced conscription, and destruction of civilian infrastructure across Myanmar.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
