Around 20 Displaced Civilians Killed, About 40 Injured**<br><strong>m.CDM \u2013 January 23<\/strong><br>In <strong>Kaung Ja Village, Bhamo Township, Kachin State<\/strong>, where fighting has intensified, the <strong>military junta bombed a funeral prayer ceremony<\/strong>, killing around <strong>20 internally displaced civilians<\/strong> and injuring approximately <strong>40 others<\/strong>, according to local sources.<br>The attack occurred on <strong>January 22 at around 4:00 p.m.<\/strong>, when the military carried out <strong>two airstrikes using a fighter jet<\/strong> while displaced civilians were praying for the deceased.<br>Kaung Ja Village, also known as <strong>Htee Hlin<\/strong>, is located on the bank of the <strong>Irrawaddy River<\/strong> and has been serving as a shelter for displaced people from Bhamo town.<br>Although fighting has occurred in Bhamo town, there were <strong>no clashes near Kaung Ja Village<\/strong>, and local military sources stated that the airstrike was a <strong>deliberate attack targeting civilians<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Aid workers assisting displaced people warned that the death toll may rise further, as many of the injured are in critical condition.<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ol start=\"3\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Air Attacks on Sein Kone and Min Kone Villages in Kani Township Kill 1 Civilian and Injure 2**<br><strong>m.CDM \u2013 January 23<\/strong><br>In <strong>Kani Township, Sagaing Region<\/strong>, the military junta conducted <strong>gyrocopter air attacks<\/strong> on <strong>Sein Kone Village<\/strong> and <strong>Min Kone Village<\/strong>, killing <strong>one civilian<\/strong> and injuring <strong>two others<\/strong>, according to local residents.<br>The attacks occurred on <strong>January 22<\/strong>, from around <strong>7:00 a.m. until after 6:30 p.m.<\/strong>, targeting civilian villages and IDP shelters despite the absence of any clashes.<br>At around <strong>4:00 p.m.<\/strong>, an air attack damaged <strong>three civilian houses in Min Kone Village<\/strong>, injuring a <strong>71-year-old elderly man<\/strong>, according to an aid worker assisting displaced people.<br>Later, at around <strong>6:30 p.m.<\/strong>, two additional airstrikes on <strong>Sein Kone Village<\/strong> killed a <strong>37-year-old woman<\/strong> and injured a <strong>78-year-old elderly woman<\/strong>.<br>The attacks occurred as the military junta was preparing to hold its <strong>sham election<\/strong> in Kani Township on <strong>January 25<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">As non-CDM staff and junta supporters are expected to travel to Kani Township by river to vote, the <strong>Kani Township Emergency Administration Committee<\/strong> announced a <strong>temporary closure of the Chindwin River to travel from January 16 to January 27<\/strong>.<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>4.8 CDM Railway Workers Arrested, Beaten, Interrogated, and Detained by PDF Group in Nabar Village, Indaw Township**<br><strong>m.CDM \u2013 January 23<\/strong><br>In <strong>Nabar Village, Indaw Township<\/strong>, <strong>8 railway medics and workers participating in the Civil Disobedience Movement (CDM)<\/strong> were arrested, beaten, interrogated, and placed under detention by the <strong>Indaw East Township People\u2019s Defense Force (PDF)<\/strong> at around <strong>5:00 p.m. on January 17<\/strong>, according to <strong>KachinWaves Media<\/strong>.<br>According to local residents, the arrests were made after <strong>photos of Nabar Village appeared on junta propaganda Telegram channels<\/strong>, leading to suspicions of a security information leak.<br>One railway medic reportedly argued verbally with PDF members and was <strong>punched in the face<\/strong>. Another CDM worker named <strong>Kyaw Swar Win<\/strong> was allegedly <strong>beaten severely<\/strong>.<br>The detainees were interrogated and beaten for approximately <strong>four hours<\/strong> inside a house in the village before being released at around <strong>9:00 p.m.<\/strong>, but their <strong>phones were confiscated<\/strong>, and they remain under <strong>detention restrictions<\/strong>.<br>During the arrest, a <strong>13-year-old boy<\/strong>, the son of one medic, was beaten by a <strong>PDF township leader<\/strong>, leaving bruising around his eye.<br>An official from the <strong>Indaw Township People\u2019s Administration<\/strong> said they were unaware of the incident but would <strong>investigate and take action if it constituted a human rights violation<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">On the same day, PDF, PLA, and PA groups also <strong>dismantled privately owned Starlink internet equipment<\/strong> in Nabar Village.<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>5.Attack on Fixed Military Checkpoint in Sagaing Township Kills 5 Junta Soldiers**<br><strong>m.CDM \u2013 January 23<\/strong><br>An attack on a <strong>fixed military checkpoint<\/strong> in <strong>Sagaing Township, Sagaing Region<\/strong>, resulted in the deaths of <strong>5 junta soldiers<\/strong>, according to a video statement released by the <strong>Mada Yar Township People\u2019s Defense Force (PDF)<\/strong>.<br>The checkpoint was located in <strong>Kyaing Gyi Village<\/strong>, where the military was permanently stationed.
