At Least 9 Civilians Killed by Military Council Airstrikes in Sagaing and Chin State<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>m.CDM \u2013 January 5<\/strong><br>According to local sources, <strong>at least nine civilians were killed<\/strong> after the terrorist Military Council carried out aerial bombings using gyrocopters and fighter jets in <strong>Myaung Township, Salingyi Township (Sagaing Region), and Hakha Township (Chin State).<\/strong><br>On <strong>January 5 in the morning<\/strong>, despite no clashes taking place, Military Council forces bombed <strong>Nabat Village in Myaung Township<\/strong> using <strong>three gyrocopters<\/strong>.<br>As a result of the explosions, <strong>two civilians, including one woman, were killed<\/strong>, and several houses were damaged.<br>Similarly, on <strong>January 4 at around 2:00 PM<\/strong>, a <strong>sub-township hospital in Mataungta Village, Salingyi Township<\/strong> was bombed with <strong>two bombs dropped from a gyrocopter<\/strong> that took off from the Monywa-based Northwestern Command (NaMaKha).<br>During the attack, <strong>one doctor and two hospital cooks were killed<\/strong>, and others were injured, though the exact number of injured has not yet been confirmed.<br>Local residents said the hospital was constructed only after the military coup and that <strong>no armed clashes had ever occurred in the surrounding area<\/strong>.<br>In addition, on <strong>January 4 around midnight<\/strong>, Military Council aircraft bombed <strong>Horta Village and Haiphai Village in Hakha Township, Chin State<\/strong>, despite the absence of fighting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">One bomb hit a house in Horta Village, killing <strong>a mother and her two children instantly<\/strong>. The father later <strong>died the next afternoon while receiving medical treatment<\/strong> due to severe injuries.<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>2. 21 BAGAN Warns It Will Take Action Against Those Spreading False Information<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>m.CDM \u2013 January 5<\/strong><br>The <strong>21 BAGAN resistance group<\/strong> announced on January 5 that it will <strong>investigate and take action against individuals and media outlets spreading false information<\/strong>.<br>This statement followed a post made on January 4 by a revolutionary news page claiming that the entire 21 BAGAN group had defected to the Military Council.<br>The group clarified via video that the claim was <strong>entirely false<\/strong>, stating that <strong>21 BAGAN has never negotiated or collaborated with the military<\/strong> since its formation on <strong>May 18, 2024<\/strong>.<br>21 BAGAN reaffirmed that its objective is the <strong>complete eradication of dictatorship<\/strong> and the establishment of a <strong>genuine federal democratic system under the people<\/strong>.<br>The group stated that it continues to conduct <strong>military operations in cooperation with allied forces<\/strong>.<br>While acknowledging challenges during the revolution, the group warned that spreading false news <strong>damages the image of the revolution and undermines public and allied trust<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Therefore, 21 BAGAN officially announced it will <strong>identify and take legal action<\/strong> against those disseminating false reports about the group.<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>3. 35 Political Prisoners Beaten and Held in Solitary Confinement at Magway Prison<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>m.CDM \u2013 January 5<\/strong><br>The <strong>Political Prisoners Network Myanmar (PPNM)<\/strong> reported that <strong>35 political prisoners at Magway Prison<\/strong> have been <strong>beaten and placed in solitary confinement for nearly one month<\/strong>, as of January 5.<br>On <strong>December 8, 2025<\/strong>, prison authorities ordered political prisoners from <strong>Male Ward 4<\/strong> to wash used plates from the entire prison in groups of ten. When prisoners stated they were unable to comply, prison staff <strong>assaulted them<\/strong>.<br>Prisoners were forced to squat with their heads bowed. Those who did not comply had their faces covered and were beaten and left under the sun, resulting in <strong>head injuries<\/strong>.<br>PPNM confirmed that some prisoners were also <strong>forced face-down on the ground and beaten with batons, electric wires, and thick ropes<\/strong>.<br>As a result, <strong>35 political prisoners have been held in solitary confinement from December 8 until now<\/strong>, and families remain unaware of their current health conditions.<br>The abuses reportedly involved prison staff member <strong>Thet Paing Soe<\/strong>, along with ward leaders from various blocks.<br>Additionally, <strong>11 political prisoners<\/strong> who participated in a <strong>betel-nut boycott campaign on December 17<\/strong>\u2014aimed at cutting off prison staff\u2019s income from overpriced prison goods\u2014were also beaten, shackled, and remain in solitary confinement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">PPNM further stated that <strong>food restrictions<\/strong>, <strong>limited visitation<\/strong>, and <strong>bribery requirements<\/strong> constitute violations of <strong>human rights and international prison standards<\/strong>.<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>4. 31 of 88 Documented Conflict-Related Sexual Violence Cases Committed by the Military Council<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>m.CDM \u2013 January 5<\/strong><br>The <strong>Burmese Women\u2019s Union (BWU)<\/strong> reported documenting <strong>88 cases of conflict-related sexual violence<\/strong> in Myanmar, of which <strong>31 cases were committed by the Military Council and affiliated groups<\/strong>, including <strong>10 cases of gang rape<\/strong>.<br>Between <strong>January 2024 and July 2025<\/strong>, BWU recorded <strong>64 rape cases<\/strong>, including <strong>11 gang rapes involving 2 to 10 perpetrators<\/strong>.<br>Victims ranged in age from <strong>5 to 70<\/strong>, including <strong>29 minors<\/strong> and <strong>4 persons with disabilities<\/strong>.<br>Eight victims were <strong>killed by perpetrators<\/strong>, while six survivors endured <strong>extreme torture<\/strong>.<br>BWU also documented <strong>28 sexual violence cases committed by resistance groups<\/strong>, including <strong>17 cases involving PDF units under the National Unity Government<\/strong>, as well as individual cases involving <strong>KA and CDM personnel<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">BWU urged revolutionary leaders to <strong>strictly enforce civilian protection codes<\/strong>, ensure <strong>legal accountability<\/strong>, and establish <strong>protection mechanisms for women and girls<\/strong> in controlled areas.<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>5. Meeting Held Between CDM Soldiers\/Police and the People\u2019s Goal Organization in Bangkok<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>m.CDM \u2013 January 5<\/strong><br>A meeting between <strong>CDM military and police members and their families<\/strong> and the <strong>People\u2019s Goal Organization<\/strong> was held on <strong>December 7 in Bangkok, Thailand<\/strong>, aimed at strengthening cooperation, sharing experiences, and addressing challenges.<br>A total of <strong>24 participants<\/strong>, including former 88-Generation air force veteran <strong>U Myint Wai<\/strong>, attended.<br>The organization explained its ongoing activities and areas where CDM members can contribute, while participants openly shared their personal struggles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The People\u2019s Goal Organization provides <strong>education, security assistance, shelter, food, healthcare, vocational training, and employment support<\/strong> to CDM soldiers, police, and families.<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>6. Non-CDM Education Office Staff Arrested with Drugs in Aunglan Township<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>m.CDM \u2013 January 5<\/strong><br>On <strong>December 28<\/strong>, <strong>Moe Htet Khine<\/strong>, a clerk from the Aunglan District Education Office, was arrested between <strong>Thanchate Gate and Myohla Bridge<\/strong> with <strong>105 WY meth tablets and 20 kyattha of dried marijuana<\/strong>, according to Battalion No. 2 of Thayet District.<br>He was detained during a patrol and inspection. Authorities noted links to local militia figures and KTV owners.<br>The suspect was transferred to the <strong>Aunglan Township People\u2019s Defense Force (PaKaFa)<\/strong> and <strong>Public Security Force<\/strong>, where further investigation will proceed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Authorities warned that as scam networks decline, <strong>schools may increasingly be used as drug distribution points<\/strong>.<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>7. Madaya Township PaKaFa Launches \u201cTo Madaya, To Home\u201d Campaign<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>m.CDM \u2013 January 5<\/strong><br>The <strong>Madaya Township People\u2019s Defense Force<\/strong> announced the launch of a fundraising campaign titled <strong>\u201cTo Madaya, To Home\u201d<\/strong>, aiming to raise <strong>150 million kyats<\/strong> for weapons and ammunition.<br>Madaya, located near Mandalay, has long been a stronghold of resistance forces and remains strategically significant.<br>While several military bases were captured in 2024, intense counter-offensives in late 2025 forced temporary territorial losses.<br>The campaign emphasizes that funds are <strong>solely for arms procurement<\/strong>, noting that ammunition costs approximately <strong>12,000 kyats per bullet<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Donors are invited to contribute via Facebook Messenger, starting from the cost of a single bullet. Certificates and entertainment programs will be offered in appreciation.
