About **five minutes after the first strike**\u2014around **1:20 a.m.**\u2014the jet fighter reportedly circled back and carried out a **second bombing**.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
As a result of the attacks, a **16-year-old schoolgirl** from **Taung Phi Lar village**, who had been staying at the school to study, was killed. **Two other schoolgirls** were **seriously injured**. The students were reported to be enrolled and studying at the school.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

## 2) Administrative offices in Sinphyukyun torched; junta checkpoint and convoy attacked<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The statement said that starting **December 23, 2025**, district commands, battalions\/units, and People\u2019s Defence Teams (Pa Ka Pha), together with allied forces, conducted continuous attacks against junta bases.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
* **December 24:** A junta checkpoint in **Thanzalun village, Seikphyu Township** was raided under the command of the **Pakokku District Military Command**. **Three junta personnel** were reported killed, and the checkpoint was seized.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
* **December 30:** A **four-vehicle convoy** carrying about **35 personnel** departing Seikphyu Township was ambushed, also under the Pakokku District command. The statement claimed **16 junta personnel were killed** and **one captive** was taken. Two vehicles were damaged, and **eight weapons** plus ammunition were seized.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In **Magway Region**, on the old **Natmauk\u2013Pyawbwe road**, two people\u2014**including a junta officer**\u2014were reported killed after they drove through a PDF checkpoint **without stopping for inspection**, according to a statement by **Natmauk Pa Ka Pha**.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
At around **7:00 a.m. on January 2**, while the Natmauk Pa Ka Pha was conducting checks, a **Toyota Hilux Surf (9D-3960)** coming from the **Saikoung** direction allegedly refused inspection and fled. Three junta personnel were reportedly in the vehicle. PDF members pursued and fired, and **one officer** and **one other-rank** were said to have died.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The remaining junta member reportedly escaped by **carjacking a civilian vehicle at gunpoint** and fled toward **Mon village**. The statement also said they seized **two MA-3 rifles**, **eight magazines**, and **200 rounds of 5.56mm ammunition** from the junta vehicle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the **7th day** of the **Katha town-capture battle** in **Sagaing Region** (as of **January 2**), ground sources said joint resistance forces\u2014**including KIA-led units**\u2014control **nearly three-quarters** of the town and have surrounded the junta\u2019s fixed base, **Light Infantry Battalion (LIB) 309**.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Fighting remains intense. The junta is reportedly carrying out **daily attacks** using **airstrikes, artillery, and drones**.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Katha has **10 wards** and **143 villages**. Sources said the junta can hold only some wards in the town itself, while resistance forces have controlled **nearly all surrounding villages since 2023**.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Key areas of fighting were reported to include: **Thaphan Kone village**, **Katha Main Market**, **Police Station No. (1)**, the **prison** (reportedly holding about **900 prisoners**), **High School (1) and (2)**, the **400-meter sports field**, the **district combined office**, **Wards (5) and (8)**, **Ward (10)**, and **LIB (309)**.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

## 6) Travel assistance provided to 43 amnesty recipients from Indaw and Kyunhla<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On **January 1**, the NUG granted amnesty to **110 prisoners** nationwide and also reduced remaining sentences for others by **one-third**. Among those granted amnesty, **19** were from Indaw Township and **24** from Kyunhla Township. They reportedly received amnesty certificates and travel assistance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Four revolutionary queer groups urged the NUG to publish an update on the status and completion of investigations into allegations against **Permanent Secretary Ma Kyi Pyar** and her husband, and to deliver justice as quickly as possible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
They said complaints had been filed requesting action for alleged **human rights violations**, **abuse of power and corruption**, **workplace sexual harassment**, misconduct toward staff, and alleged **undue influence\/manipulation** within the revolutionary government.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
They stated that on **November 22**, the NUG formed an investigation team including **five cabinet members**, and that the NUG publicly committed to completing the process within **one month** and to uncovering truth and justice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
However, they said that from the date the complaints were first filed up to today, the NUG has not publicly released findings, progress updates, or resolutions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
They therefore called on the NUG to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
1. Officially guarantee that complainants and witnesses will not face threats, pressure, or retaliation;<\/p>\n\n\n\n
