  1. In Depayin, 18 civilians including children killed in airstrike by junta forces

    The Depayin Township People\u2019s Administration Team has confirmed that 18 civilians, including children, were killed and many others injured in an airstrike carried out by the terrorist military in Depayin Township, Sagaing Region.
    The attack took place at around 8 p.m. on December 5, when the terrorist military used jet fighters to carry out an unprovoked aerial strike on Marakan Village, located in the eastern part of Depayin Township.
    As a result, civilian homes in Marakan Village were destroyed, and a total of 18 local residents, including women and children under five years old, were killed on the spot. Many others were injured, the statement said.
    Because some of the wounded are in critical condition, the situation is still being closely monitored, they added.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    According to local reports, the villagers were watching a replay of the SEA Games women\u2019s football match between the Myanmar women\u2019s team and the Philippines when the airstrike took place.<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    2. PDFs continue fighting in Mong Ko\u2013Momeik area and capture a key hilltop base<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

    People\u2019s Defence Forces (PDFs) and allied local defence forces (Pa-Ka-Fa) are continuing operations in the Mong Ko\u2013Momeik area, which the TNLA has withdrawn from, and have captured a strategically important junta hilltop base, according to a statement from the Ministry of Defence of the National Unity Government (NUG).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    The ministry states that on November 9 it formed the Mong Ko\u2013Momeik Area Operation Command, placed PDFs and local defence forces in the area under its close supervision, and began coordinated operations.<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    3. Dr. Tayzar San calls on the public to join the nationwide \u201cStay Indoors, Silent Strike\u201d on December 10<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

    Protest leader Dr. Tayzar San has called on the public to participate in a nationwide \u201cDon\u2019t Go Out, Silent Strike\u201d to be held on December 10 (International Human Rights Day).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    He said that during the Silent Strike on International Human Rights Day, three major points reflecting the people\u2019s will and demands will be raised, and urged everyone to join this popular mass action.<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    4. At least 11 civilians including IDPs from Mogok killed in airstrike on Myitsone Village, Momeik Township<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

    Around 9 a.m. on December 6, two junta jet fighters dropped bombs at least three times near Myitsone Village in Momeik Township, northern Shan State, killing about 11 civilians, including IDPs from Mogok and local residents, according to local sources.
    The bombs struck locations inside Myitsone Village near \u201cMother\u2019s Love\u201d cooking oil shop, near the bridge, and near the Namtmet Stream suspension bridge. Among the dead were a pregnant woman and her husband, who had fled from Mogok, as well as five of their relatives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    A second bomb killed an elderly grandmother selling nuts near Mother\u2019s Love shop, when shrapnel struck her head and she died on the spot.<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    5. Two civilians killed and five injured by junta shelling in Khaleh Lwee Htu District<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

    The Karen National Union (KNU) reports that in Muu Township, Khaleh Lwee Htu District, under KNU\u2019s Kawkareik District (Ka Sue Ler) administration, two civilians were killed and five injured due to attacks by the junta\u2019s terrorist forces.
    On December 3, troops from junta Infantry Battalion 73 fired three 120 mm artillery rounds, which landed and exploded inside Nyaung Pin Thar Village.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    As a result, U Thurein Soe (age 33) and U Toe Gyi (age 70) were killed.<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    6. Clash with junta vehicle at checkpoint on Natmauk\u2013Pyawbwe road<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

    The Natmauk People\u2019s Defence Force (Natmauk Pa-Ka-Fa) reports that a clash broke out when a junta vehicle ran into a checkpoint where resistance forces were conducting inspections on the Natmauk\u2013Pyawbwe road near the U Garden junction in Magway Region.<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    7. Junta shells Shunda Park scam compound; remaining workers set fires inside the compound<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

    In a December 6 announcement, the Karen National Union (KNU) stated that the security situation in and around the Shunda Park scam compound and Min Let Pan area has become extremely serious and unstable.
    At about 9:25 a.m. on December 6, troops under junta Division 2 fired two 60 mm artillery rounds into the Shunda Park compound. The shells landed and exploded inside, injuring some members of the civilian assessment team and others on the ground, the KNU said.
    KNLA field commanders believe that this attack was a deliberate, targeted strike by the junta.
    The KNU warns that the situation has now reached an extremely concerning level for civilians living on both sides of the border.
    On December 5 at around 11:15 a.m., the junta also fired at least seven artillery rounds into the Min Let Pan area; three of the shells landed in Thai territory, injuring Thai civilians, according to Thai media reports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    The KNU statement says the KNLA has been authorized to take all necessary measures to avoid unwanted direct confrontations with those who voluntarily remain inside Shunda Park, while prioritizing the safety of civilians on both sides of the border.<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    8. Denmark announces its embassy in Myanmar will close by end of 2026<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

    On December 5, Danish Foreign Minister Lars L\u00f8kke Rasmussen announced that Denmark\u2019s embassy in Yangon, which handles Myanmar-related affairs, will be permanently closed by the end of 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    According to the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, this decision is part of a broader restructuring of Denmark\u2019s foreign policy and diplomatic presence. Since the military coup, conditions for engagement and cooperation in Myanmar have seriously deteriorated, and there are no signs that the situation will improve in the near term, the statement said.<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
