Pyapon Prison authorities are severely extorting and abusing political prisoners<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>m.CDM \u2014 November 25<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Prisoner Network of Myanmar (PPNM) reports that authorities at Pyapon Prison, Ayeyarwady Region, are not only targeting political prisoners for repression but also committing severe acts of bribery and extortion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to PPNM, when new inmates arrive at Pyapon Prison, the prison warden and officers\u2014either directly or via inmate leaders (\u201ctrustees\u201d)\u2014routinely demand 300,000 to 800,000 kyats as a so-called \u201ccare fee,\u201d claiming it is an authorized charge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Inmates who cannot pay are subjected to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>* coercive extortion by inmate trustees and discipline enforcers,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>* verbal abuse and shouting by officers,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>* repeated physical beatings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Trustees also routinely beat, assault, and torture inmates whenever they are displeased, PPNM reports. Prison authorities, including Zaw Tun Oo (Prison Department) and Warden Aung San Lin, take no action against the abuses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>PPNM states that the most notorious abusers include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>1. Yae Aung (serving a 10-year sentence for rape),<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>2. Thet Soe Wai (aka Ka Tone) \u2014 sentenced under Penal Code 19(a) for 10 years,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>3. Aung Thu (serving 10 years for human trafficking).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>These individuals act with full impunity, using multiple pretexts to demand money and exert violent control over prisoners, PPNM says.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>2. Non-CDM professor transferred to Shwebo University arrested by PaKaFa<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>m.CDM \u2014 November 25<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A non-CDM professor newly transferred to Shwebo University was arrested and detained by the Shwebo Township People\u2019s Defense Team (PaKaFa), according to local sources.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On November 21, around 3 PM, PaKaFa units inspected a passenger bus (\u201cShwe Sittssa\u201d) on the Shwebo\u2013Mu Kham Gyi Road and apprehended the professor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The detainee is Dr. Ri Ri Lwin, a mathematics professor formerly at Yangon University of Distance Education and recently promoted and transferred to Shwebo University.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She is reportedly being held safely and was transferred to the Non-CDM Screening Committee under the local PaAF and PaKaFa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Some detained non-CDM civil servants have previously been released after being informed to join CDM and stop cooperating with the junta, depending on their actions and screening results.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>3. Over 10 junta soldiers killed in ambush in Natmauk<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>m.CDM \u2014 November 25<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>More than 10 junta troops were killed when revolutionary forces ambushed a junta column near Kyauktan Village in Natmauk Township, Magway Region, according to the Naypyidaw Military Region Column-17.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The ambush occurred at 8:21 AM on November 25, targeting a junta unit of about 80 troops.\ufffdFighting lasted nearly an hour.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Revolutionary fighters reported no casualties on their side and successfully withdrew after the attack.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Troops from the Training Unit (7) based in Taung Twin Gyi, the Kyaukpadaung-based LIB-17, and Rwa Mhon-based units were involved in the junta column.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The attack was jointly carried out by:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>* Naypyidaw Military Region Column 17,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>* Battalions 903 &amp; 902,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>* Natmauk PaKaFa,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>* Myothit Vissanoy Units.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>4. Army burns 15 houses in Kyauk Mae Taung Village; 11 villages, 4,000+ displaced for over 4 months<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>m.CDM \u2014 November 25<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In Pakokku Township, Magway Region, junta troops from Ka Pa Sa 24 (Defense Industry Factory No. 24) burned down 15 homes in Kyauk Mae Taung Village on November 23.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Over 4,000 residents from Kyauk Mae Taung and 11 surrounding villages have been displaced for more than four months, sheltering in Saw and Htilin townships.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Humanitarian needs include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>* temporary shelters,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>* food supplies,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>* blankets, mosquito nets,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>* medicines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>PaAF (Pakokku) urges donors to coordinate through its Humanitarian Department or trusted community groups.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>5. Yangon urban resistance groups attack Kyauktada Police Station with hand-thrown bombs<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>m.CDM \u2014 November 25<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Urban resistance forces attacked the Kyauktada Police Station in downtown Yangon early on November 25, around 1 AM, using two hand-thrown bombs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The bombs detonated near the guard post in front of the police station.\ufffdResistance teams confirm the attack under Operation Flame.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Kyauktada Police Station is identified as:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>* a center assisting the junta\u2019s sham election,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>* a site involved in unlawful arrests and torture of civilians.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The operation was jointly carried out by:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>* Operation Flame,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>* Western District PaKaFa,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>* Kyimyindaing PasuFa,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>* Latha PaKaFa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Urban resistance groups say they will continue escalating attacks to disrupt the junta\u2019s fake election.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>6. Junta troops infiltrate Mogoke; PDFs ordered to withdraw from town perimeter<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>m.CDM \u2014 November 25<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Over 100 junta troops have infiltrated Mogoke, Mandalay Region, prompting People\u2019s Defense Forces to pull back to the outskirts, according to local sources.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>TNLA previously met PDF units in Namtatu and Namsan and informed them that junta troops would be escorted into Mogoke on November 30 or December 1 for \u201csecurity purposes.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Approximately 85% of Mogoke\u2019s residents have fled, including former TNLA-appointed administrators.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Looting of abandoned homes has already been reported.\ufffdResidents still in the area fear renewed fighting, supply shortages, and road blockages.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>TNLA and junta troops have reportedly been positioned together\u2014wearing TNLA uniforms\u2014at:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>* Kyauk Hpa Gate,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>* Mogoke East Police Station,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>* Mogoke Prison,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>* Yadanashin Gems Compound.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>TNLA earlier announced it would hand over Mogoke and Mongmit to the junta as part of its ceasefire terms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>PDFs had previously declared they would defend Mogoke, while KIA stated it would help defend Mongmit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>7. In Min Don Township, PDF captures Pyu Saw Htee member involved in junta arrests; seizes 10,000 WY pills<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>m.CDM \u2014 November 25<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>PDF forces arrested Nay Thway, a disciple of Pyu Saw Htee leader Phoe Pya, at around 11 AM on November 25 near Nyaung Pin Thar Village in Min Don Township.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Seized from him:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>* 10,000 WY methamphetamine pills,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>* a motorcycle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Nay Thway had been operating drug-trafficking and illegal gambling hubs together with Pyu Saw Htee groups, while also participating in junta-led civilian arrests and extortion checkpoints along the Pathein\u2013Monywa Road.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He also assisted junta units in military operations, including in Let Pan Tan Village Tract.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>8.
