Monk U Pyinnya Zawta (U Zinn Nat Zaw) from Metta Parami Monastery in Buffalo Released<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>October 30<\/strong><br><strong>Radio NUG<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to reports, former political prisoner&nbsp;<strong>U Pyinnya Zawta (U Zinn Nat Zaw)<\/strong>, the abbot of&nbsp;<strong>Metta Parami Monastery in Buffalo, New York, United States<\/strong>, has been&nbsp;<strong>released<\/strong>&nbsp;in the afternoon of&nbsp;<strong>October 30<\/strong>, after being&nbsp;<strong>unlawfully detained and imprisoned for nearly one year<\/strong>&nbsp;by the&nbsp;<strong>military junta<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Poet&nbsp;<strong>Aung Way<\/strong>&nbsp;wrote that&nbsp;<strong>Sayadaw U Pyinnya Zawta<\/strong>&nbsp;is expected to&nbsp;<strong>arrive back at the Metta Parami Monastery in Buffalo at 8:30 p.m. (New York time) on October 31<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sayadaw U Pyinnya Zawta had traveled to&nbsp;<strong>Yangon<\/strong>&nbsp;on a&nbsp;<strong>religious mission<\/strong>&nbsp;aimed at&nbsp;<strong>raising support to construct new monastic schools for monks studying in Myanmar<\/strong>. However, he was&nbsp;<strong>arrested by junta police<\/strong>&nbsp;in&nbsp;<strong>Saw Bwar Gyi Kone, Mingaladon Township<\/strong>, on&nbsp;<strong>November 13, 2024<\/strong>, and was&nbsp;<strong>imprisoned for nearly one year<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He is known as&nbsp;<strong>one of the leading monks of the 2007 Saffron Revolution<\/strong>, who also&nbsp;<strong>organized the Young Monks\u2019 Association<\/strong>.
