Myanmar\u2019s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador U Kyaw Moe Tun<\/strong>, stated that the military junta has been deliberately carrying out extrajudicial executions<\/strong> to instill fear among the public<\/strong> and to suppress opposition<\/strong> against its rule.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He made these remarks during an interactive dialogue<\/strong> of the UN General Assembly\u2019s Third Committee<\/strong>\u2014which focuses on Social, Humanitarian, and Cultural Issues<\/strong>\u2014under the discussion topic concerning extrajudicial, summary, or arbitrary executions<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ambassador U Kyaw Moe Tun explained that since the illegal military coup in February 2021<\/strong>, Myanmar has been witnessing a tragic pattern<\/strong> of extrajudicial killings and arbitrary executions<\/strong> committed by the junta for over four years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In July 2022, he said, the junta executed political prisoners<\/strong> to demonstrate its cruelty and terrorize the population<\/strong>, showing how far it would go to crush dissent and maintain power.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He cited Article 3 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights<\/strong>, which guarantees every individual the right to life, liberty, and security of person<\/strong>, emphasizing that these fundamental rights have been systematically violated<\/strong> in Myanmar by the junta through state-sanctioned killings<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ambassador U Kyaw Moe Tun also pointed out that due to the lack of effective international action<\/strong> against these crimes, the military regime has continued to act with total impunity<\/strong>, exploiting this freedom to commit more atrocities<\/strong>. He highlighted that the junta\u2019s forces have massacred women and children<\/strong>, carried out unlawful detentions and executions<\/strong>, and intensified their brutal attacks<\/strong> on innocent civilians.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Reports from credible and verified sources<\/strong>, he added, have consistently documented that the junta has been committing heinous, inhumane, and unethical crimes<\/strong> in blatant violation of international law and human decency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ambassador U Kyaw Moe Tun warned that any election organized by these perpetrators of crimes<\/strong> would be neither free nor fair<\/strong>, and would only serve as a sham attempt to legitimize tyranny<\/strong>. He urged the international community<\/strong> to support efforts aimed at ending the junta\u2019s atrocities<\/strong> and to assist the ongoing movement to build a new, democratic federal Myanmar<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\ud83d\udea9\ud83d\udea9 2. KIA Captures Two Military-Controlled People\u2019s Militia Bases in Hkaunglanphu Township<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to regional defense sources, the Kachin Independence Army (KIA)<\/strong> successfully captured two military-controlled People\u2019s Militia bases<\/strong> located in Hkaunglanphu Township<\/strong>, Kachin State.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The seized bases were situated near Shilan Dam Village<\/strong> and Makhaung Dam Village<\/strong>, both of which came under KIA control on October 21<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Following the capture of these militia outposts, the military junta launched aerial bombardments<\/strong> targeting these villages and nearby civilian areas, including parts of Hkaunglanphu and Sawlaw Townships<\/strong>, sources reported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Information Department of the Kachin Independence Organization (KIO\/KIA)<\/strong> also confirmed that on October 22<\/strong>, the junta\u2019s air force carried out aerial strikes<\/strong> on territories under KIO\/KIA administration, causing damage and casualties among civilians.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\ud83d\udea9\ud83d\udea9 3. Danu Army Urges the Danu People Not to Support the Military\u2019s Sham Elections<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Danu People\u2019s Liberation Front\/Army (DPLF\/DPLA)<\/strong> has issued an appeal urging the Danu people<\/strong> not to support or participate<\/strong> in the military\u2019s planned elections<\/strong>, which the group condemned as a self-serving attempt to perpetuate the junta\u2019s power<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a statement released on October 23<\/strong>, the DPLF\/DPLA warned that the upcoming election\u2014organized by the junta for its own benefit\u2014was designed solely to entrench its rule<\/strong>, not to represent the will of the people. The group called on the Danu public to refrain from \u201cwatering a poisonous tree\u201d<\/strong> by legitimizing such a process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The statement also made clear that the DPLF\/DPLA will not recognize or accept<\/strong> any election conducted by the military regime.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Emphasizing the Danu people\u2019s historical commitment to building a federal democratic union<\/strong>, the DPLF\/DPLA pledged to intensify its cooperation<\/strong> with the public and revolutionary allies to advance both political and military efforts<\/strong> toward that goal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It stated that the DPLF\/DPLA would adopt a \u201cbottom-up federalism\u201d approach<\/strong>, strengthening the states first<\/strong> as a foundation for a strong federal union<\/strong>, and that it would actively participate in structured political processes<\/strong> to represent the Danu people both domestically and internationally<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The DPLF\/DPLA also reaffirmed its cooperation with allied forces, including the Ta\u2019ang National Liberation Army (TNLA)<\/strong>, in conducting joint operations against the junta\u2019s forces<\/strong> in Danu and neighboring regions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\ud83d\udea9\ud83d\udea9 4. Three High School Students Stabbed at Myitnge High School in Mandalay City<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

October 23, Radio NUG<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Three students from a high school in Myitnge<\/strong>, Amarapura Township, Mandalay City, were stabbed and hospitalized<\/strong> after being attacked by a civilian youth inside the school premises at around 12:30 PM on October 22<\/strong>, according to DVB TV News<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Reports indicate that the assailant, identified as a young man<\/strong>, entered Grade 11 (B)<\/strong> classroom under the pretext of giving his sister a cold drink. Once inside, he strangled and stabbed<\/strong> one female student.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When another male student and a female student tried to intervene, they were also stabbed and injured<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The incident occurred during lunchtime<\/strong>, and the perpetrator reportedly fled the scene<\/strong> immediately after the attack.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The victims were identified as Ma Su Myat Noe Oo<\/strong>, Ma Shwe Sin Nyein<\/strong>, and Maung Win Htunn Myo<\/strong>, all students of Grade 11 (Science Section)<\/strong>. Among them, the female student stabbed in the neck<\/strong> was reported to be in critical condition<\/strong>, while the other two sustained wounds to their hands<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Public criticism has since emerged, questioning the school authorities\u2019 negligence<\/strong> in allowing outsiders to enter the school compound. As of now, the police have not arrested<\/strong> the perpetrator, known as Wai Wai<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since the 2021 military coup<\/strong>, Myanmar\u2019s education system has seen a sharp rise in violence and bullying incidents<\/strong> across schools nationwide, with numerous reports of student injuries and deaths<\/strong> due to fights and organized gang behavior.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
