Fierce clashes between SAC forces and KNLA along the Myawaddy\u2013Waw Lay road<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>October 17<\/strong><br><strong>Radio NUG<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to military sources, junta troops in Myawaddy Township, Karen State, launched an offensive along the&nbsp;<strong>Myawaddy\u2013Waw Lay road<\/strong>, aiming to retake control of the area with the backing of the&nbsp;<strong>Karen Border Guard Force (BGF)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On the morning of&nbsp;<strong>October 15<\/strong>, junta columns with heavy troop strength set up bases near&nbsp;<strong>Inn Kyaing Myine Village<\/strong>&nbsp;and advanced toward&nbsp;<strong>Min Let Pan Village<\/strong>, resulting in intense clashes between junta troops and the&nbsp;<strong>Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA)<\/strong>&nbsp;joint forces in the area between Inn Kyaing Myine and Min Let Pan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The junta has been providing artillery and missile support from its&nbsp;<strong>Infantry Battalion (275)<\/strong>&nbsp;based in Myawaddy, while additional columns were reportedly mobilized near a&nbsp;<strong>Chinese Kyarpyaint compound<\/strong>&nbsp;in Inn Kyaing Myine. Meanwhile,&nbsp;<strong>Kyarpyaint ferry gates<\/strong>&nbsp;along the Thai border have been closed, and security forces are stopping and interrogating travelers along the road.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During the October 16 clashes,&nbsp;<strong>shells from the Myanmar side landed and exploded inside Thai territory<\/strong>, damaging several buildings, according to Thai media reports. Although there were no casualties on the Thai side,&nbsp;<strong>Thai military units have intensified border patrols and inspections<\/strong>&nbsp;in response.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It was further reported that junta troops disguised themselves in&nbsp;<strong>BGF uniforms and insignia<\/strong>&nbsp;while launching their assault, and&nbsp;<strong>BGF units<\/strong>&nbsp;themselves were also operating jointly with the junta forces.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Due to the ongoing fighting,&nbsp;<strong>residents from at least eight villages<\/strong>, including those from&nbsp;<strong>Lay Kay Kaw New Town and nearby areas<\/strong>, have fled to take refuge along the&nbsp;<strong>Thaung Yin River<\/strong>&nbsp;on the Thai\u2013Myanmar border.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>========================<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\ud83d\udea9\ud83d\udea9&nbsp;<strong>2. SAC airstrike on Thitchyo Village school in Ahlataw Township kills five civilians, including a child<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>October 17<\/strong><br><strong>Radio NUG<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At approximately&nbsp;<strong>10:43 a.m. on October 17<\/strong>, junta forces carried out an&nbsp;<strong>airstrike<\/strong>&nbsp;on the area near&nbsp;<strong>Thitchyo Village school<\/strong>&nbsp;in&nbsp;<strong>Ahlataw Township<\/strong>,&nbsp;<strong>without any ongoing clashes<\/strong>&nbsp;in the vicinity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The attack killed&nbsp;<strong>five civilians<\/strong>, including a&nbsp;<strong>seven-year-old child<\/strong>, according to local reports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>More than&nbsp;<strong>ten others were injured<\/strong>, and with several in critical condition, the&nbsp;<strong>death toll is expected to rise<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>========================<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\ud83d\udea9\ud83d\udea9&nbsp;<strong>3. Four civilians killed in junta air raids in Natthalin Township<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>October 17<\/strong><br><strong>Radio NUG<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In&nbsp;<strong>Natthalin Township, Bago Region<\/strong>, junta forces under the&nbsp;<strong>State Administration Council (SAC)<\/strong>&nbsp;launched&nbsp;<strong>air raids<\/strong>&nbsp;on multiple villages, resulting in the deaths of&nbsp;<strong>four civilians<\/strong>, according to local sources.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At around&nbsp;<strong>6:30 p.m. on October 16<\/strong>, junta aircraft dropped bombs on&nbsp;<strong>Ma Kyee Pin Village<\/strong>&nbsp;despite&nbsp;<strong>no fighting taking place<\/strong>&nbsp;in the area. The attack killed&nbsp;<strong>one civilian<\/strong>&nbsp;and injured&nbsp;<strong>two others<\/strong>, locals said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Similarly, in the&nbsp;<strong>afternoon of October 17<\/strong>, junta aircraft again conducted&nbsp;<strong>airstrikes<\/strong>&nbsp;near&nbsp;<strong>Taung Nyo Dam<\/strong>, targeting nearby villages despite the absence of any clashes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The bomb explosions&nbsp;<strong>damaged Thinn Baw Chit Taing Village monastery<\/strong>, injuring&nbsp;<strong>five civilians<\/strong>&nbsp;and killing&nbsp;<strong>two others<\/strong>, according to reports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition, a bomb also struck the&nbsp;<strong>Myin Village school<\/strong>, killing&nbsp;<strong>one more civilian<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Bomb fragments reportedly fell in&nbsp;<strong>Htan Taw<\/strong>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<strong>Kyat Nyo villages<\/strong>&nbsp;as well, though the extent of damage in those areas has not yet been confirmed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Likewise, in&nbsp;<strong>Kyauk Phyar Village<\/strong>,&nbsp;<strong>Kyaikhto Township<\/strong>,&nbsp;<strong>Mon State<\/strong>, a&nbsp;<strong>fighter jet<\/strong>&nbsp;dropped&nbsp;<strong>four bombs<\/strong>&nbsp;at about&nbsp;<strong>10:40 a.m. on October 17<\/strong>, even though&nbsp;<strong>no clashes<\/strong>&nbsp;were occurring. Two merchants injured in junta kamikaze drone attack in Laiza<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>October 17<\/strong><br><strong>Radio NUG<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At around&nbsp;<strong>11:50 p.m. on October 16<\/strong>, a&nbsp;<strong>drone bomb<\/strong>&nbsp;dropped by junta forces exploded in the&nbsp;<strong>Laiza vegetable market area<\/strong>, injuring&nbsp;<strong>two Chinese nationals \u2014 a husband and wife \u2014 who were sleeping inside their shop<\/strong>, according to Kachin military sources.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The explosion occurred near their shop, and the couple sustained injuries from the blast.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Several nearby shops were also&nbsp;<strong>damaged by the explosion<\/strong>, reports said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>========================<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\ud83d\udea9\ud83d\udea9&nbsp;<strong>5. Three civilians killed in Homine Village after junta airstrike<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>October 17<\/strong><br><strong>Radio NUG<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to an official statement from the&nbsp;<strong>PSLF\/TNLA<\/strong>, the&nbsp;<strong>military junta\u2019s forces<\/strong>&nbsp;carried out an airstrike on&nbsp;<strong>Homine Village<\/strong>, located within&nbsp;<strong>Namhsan Township<\/strong>&nbsp;in northern Shan State \u2014 territory controlled by&nbsp;<strong>PSLF\/TNLA Brigade 9<\/strong>&nbsp;\u2014 killing three civilians:&nbsp;<strong>two women and one man<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At around&nbsp;<strong>8:10 a.m. on October 17<\/strong>, the junta\u2019s air force dropped&nbsp;<strong>two 500-pound bombs<\/strong>&nbsp;on Homine Village.<br>As a result of the airstrike,&nbsp;<strong>15-year-old Loih Sandar Win<\/strong>,&nbsp;<strong>15-year-old Loih Spay Nyunt<\/strong>, and&nbsp;<strong>55-year-old U Kun Nwel<\/strong>&nbsp;were all killed instantly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition,&nbsp;<strong>20-year-old Loih Nilar Kyaw<\/strong>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<strong>40-year-old Daw A Swe<\/strong>&nbsp;sustained injuries, while&nbsp;<strong>five houses<\/strong>&nbsp;were destroyed or heavily damaged by the explosions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Similarly, the junta\u2019s forces also bombed&nbsp;<strong>Namtu Town<\/strong>&nbsp;with&nbsp;<strong>two 250-pound bombs<\/strong>, injuring&nbsp;<strong>four women<\/strong>&nbsp;and damaging&nbsp;<strong>two school buildings<\/strong>&nbsp;as well as several civilian homes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>========================<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\ud83d\udea9\ud83d\udea9&nbsp;<strong>6. Pyu Saw Htee militia abducts and robs a married couple in Kawlin, then rapes and kills the wife<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>October 17<\/strong><br><strong>Radio NUG<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In&nbsp;<strong>Kawlin Township<\/strong>,&nbsp;<strong>Sagaing Region<\/strong>, a married couple from&nbsp;<strong>Nyaung Kone Village<\/strong>&nbsp;was abducted and robbed by members of the&nbsp;<strong>Pyu Saw Htee militia<\/strong>&nbsp;while they were traveling toward&nbsp;<strong>Tanse<\/strong>&nbsp;to participate in a&nbsp;<em>Kathina<\/em>&nbsp;religious ceremony. The militia members then&nbsp;<strong>raped and murdered the wife<\/strong>, according to a statement issued by the&nbsp;<strong>PDF Battalion No. (3)<\/strong>&nbsp;of&nbsp;<strong>Kanbalu District<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The incident occurred around&nbsp;<strong>9 a.m. on October 16<\/strong>, when Pyu Saw Htee members from the&nbsp;<strong>San Pan Nan Thar camp<\/strong>, located along the&nbsp;<strong>Shwebo\u2013Myitkyina Road<\/strong>, intercepted&nbsp;<strong>U Kyaw Myo<\/strong>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<strong>Ma Aye Mar Oo<\/strong>, who were en route to the&nbsp;<em>Kathina<\/em>&nbsp;offering ceremony.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After abducting the couple, the militia members&nbsp;<strong>stole<\/strong>&nbsp;two gold chains, a one-kyattha gold ring, a gold nugget, one pair of earrings, one gold bracelet \u2014 totaling&nbsp;<strong>three kyattha<\/strong>&nbsp;of gold \u2014 along with&nbsp;<strong>700,000 kyats in cash<\/strong>,&nbsp;<strong>three mobile phones<\/strong>, and&nbsp;<strong>one motorcycle<\/strong>.<br>They then&nbsp;<strong>raped and murdered Ma Aye Mar Oo<\/strong>, while her husband managed to&nbsp;<strong>escape and report the incident<\/strong>, according to his testimony.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Similarly, on&nbsp;<strong>October 13<\/strong>, Pyu Saw Htee members from the same&nbsp;<strong>San Pan Nan Thar camp<\/strong>&nbsp;unlawfully stopped a&nbsp;<strong>truck transporting timber<\/strong>&nbsp;traveling from&nbsp;<strong>Shwebo<\/strong>&nbsp;toward&nbsp;<strong>Tanin<\/strong>&nbsp;and abducted&nbsp;<strong>nine young men<\/strong>&nbsp;aboard.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In light of these escalating atrocities,&nbsp;<strong>PDF Battalion No. (3)<\/strong>&nbsp;of&nbsp;<strong>Kanbalu District<\/strong>&nbsp;has issued a warning to civilians to avoid traveling near areas where&nbsp;<strong>junta or Pyu Saw Htee militia camps<\/strong>&nbsp;are stationed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>========================<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\ud83d\udea9\ud83d\udea9&nbsp;<strong>7. Eight escapees recaptured by Zero Guerrilla Force after breakout from Pa Ka Pha detention center in Myingyan District<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>October 17<\/strong><br><strong>Radio NUG<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Nearly&nbsp;<strong>30 detainees<\/strong>, some armed, escaped from a&nbsp;<strong>Pa Ka Pha (Military Council)<\/strong>&nbsp;detention facility in&nbsp;<strong>Myingyan District<\/strong>, Mandalay Region.
