Instead, he noted, the military has wilfully obstructed humanitarian assistance, exploited crises for profit, and violated this responsibility.

Ambassador U Kyaw Moe Tun warned that simultaneous natural disasters and armed conflicts have led to severe human rights violations and immeasurable suffering, leaving the country in an irreparable humanitarian situation.

He stressed that Myanmar’s current situation is a clear and striking example of such human-made disaster, caused by the military junta’s illegal actions and deliberate disregard for civilian welfare.

At a time when Myanmar is struggling to recover from the widespread devastation caused by the recent 7.7-magnitude earthquake, the junta has continued its aerial bombardments on villages in Sagaing and Mandalay Regions, the areas hardest hit by the quake.

He pointed out that Myanmar’s people are now enduring not only natural disasters but also the man-made catastrophe created by the junta’s violent oppression, which has plunged them into deeper misery and poverty.

Ambassador U Kyaw Moe Tun concluded by urging the international community to stand firmly with the people of Myanmar—who are striving to build a Federal Democratic Union—and to prevent the junta’s sham election, stressing that accountability, responsibility, justice, and the restoration of democracy are the only pathways toward lasting peace and human dignity.

========================

📌📌 2.
