Japanese Deputy Foreign Minister Miyaji Receives Request Supporting Myanmar\u2019s Democratic Transition<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>October 2<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It is reported that Japan\u2019s Deputy Foreign Minister Miyaji has received a request from the Japan Parliamentary League concerning support for Myanmar\u2019s democratic transition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to a press release issued in October by the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Deputy Minister Miyaji formally accepted a petition from the Myanmar Parliamentary Representatives\u2019 Association for Democracy, which seeks to support Myanmar\u2019s democratic movement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Daw Naw Ohnmar from the NUG Representative Office in Japan explained:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cEssentially, this was a petition jointly submitted by both the Japan Parliamentary League members and the GIREN parliamentarians to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The letter called on the Japanese government and members of parliament to&nbsp;<strong>absolutely reject the sham election<\/strong>&nbsp;that the terrorist junta intends to stage, and to&nbsp;<strong>demand the immediate release of Daw Aung San Suu Kyi.<\/strong>&nbsp;This petition, signed by Myanmar nationals living in Japan, was officially handed over to the Upper House Speaker, Mr. Kondo Soichi.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On September 30, during the annual convention of the Association of Parliamentarians Supporting Myanmar\u2019s Democracy, Japan-based representatives of the National Unity Government (NUG) including U Saw Bla Hla Thein, along with representatives of Myanmar community organizations in Japan, attended and appealed for continued support for Myanmar\u2019s struggle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>========================<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\ud83d\udccc\ud83d\udccc&nbsp;<strong>2. Ko Htein Lin Urges Support to Protect Media Seeking Justice<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>October 2<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ko Htein Lin, son of Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, called on October 2 to help ensure that media outlets striving for justice are not silenced or made to disappear.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He said:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe T-shirt I am wearing today belonged to my elder brother around 1990. Back then, my brother and I could only hear about my mother through the free and independent press. Most of my mother\u2019s life was spent under the military\u2019s arrests and detentions, and we were cut off from her. Whether she was doing well or not, we learned only through the media. That remains true today, only worse. No matter how much they try to suppress or silence the news, the media continues to reveal the truth. That is why these media outlets must be protected from disappearing. We must all help\u2014for my mother, for all political prisoners, and for the people of Myanmar\u2014so that the truth can continue to be uncovered.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Between February 2021 and January 2025, a total of&nbsp;<strong>7 journalists were killed<\/strong>&nbsp;due to arrest, torture, and executions by the junta.<br>In nearly four years since the coup,&nbsp;<strong>over 200 journalists have been arrested<\/strong>, and at any given time,&nbsp;<strong>between 30 and 60 journalists remain imprisoned<\/strong>&nbsp;across various jails in the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>========================<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\ud83d\udccc\ud83d\udccc&nbsp;<strong>3. Local PDF Seizes Truck Transporting Teak Wood for Pakokku Airport Project<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>October 2<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Southern YSO PDF announced that one 10-wheeled truck carrying teak wood intended for the construction of an airport in Pakokku, Magway Region, was seized.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The seizure occurred around 3:00 p.m. on September 26, on a forest road in Yesagyo Township. The truck, weighing about 8.153 tons loaded with teak wood, was stopped and inspected.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The driver, a spy, and an individual traveling from Pakokku were detained.
