Vice General Gun Maw congratulates PDFs on the victory in capturing Banmauk Town<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Vice General Gun Maw, Deputy Chairman of the Kachin Independence Council (KIC) and a senior leader of the Kachin Independence Organization\/Army (KIO\/KIA), has congratulated the People\u2019s Defense Forces (PDFs) for their victory in capturing Banmauk Town.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After the revolutionary forces captured Banmauk Town, a video recording showed PDFs holding a flag-raising victory ceremony in front of the town entrance signboard. The footage was shared by People\u2019s Spring, and Vice General Gun Maw posted a congratulatory remark in response.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He wrote:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe PDF has gained experience and enhanced capabilities. May greater victories for the people continue to be achieved.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>His comment drew responses of gratitude and respect from the public on social media.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The revolutionary joint forces launched their offensive on September 15 to seize Banmauk, where junta troops and their allied Shan Ni Army (SNA) were stationed. The town was taken on the sixth day of battle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Colonel Naw Bu, head of the KIA Information Department, stated on September 19 that the operation to seize Banmauk was conducted under the command of the Ministry of Defense of the National Unity Government (NUG), specifically Military Region No. 1.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With the capture of Banmauk, revolutionary forces now control&nbsp;<strong>seven towns<\/strong>&nbsp;in Sagaing Region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>========================<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\ud83d\udea9\ud83d\udea9&nbsp;<strong>2. Junta airstrikes on Kyesu Village in Kanbalu Township, where IDPs were sheltering<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On September 11, at about 1:24 a.m. and again at 1:29 a.m., a junta jet fighter taking off from Tada-U Airport carried out two airstrikes on Kyesu Village in Kanbalu Township, where internally displaced persons (IDPs) were sheltering, according to local sources.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A 55-year-old displaced woman was killed in the attack, while six men and three women sustained injuries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A source reported:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThere was no battle. The junta carried out airstrikes directly on Kyesu Village where displaced people were staying. Civilians were killed and injured. School buildings and houses were also destroyed.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It was also recalled that in October last year, the junta torched houses in Kyesu Village and committed arbitrary arrests and killings of civilians.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>========================<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\ud83d\udea9\ud83d\udea9&nbsp;<strong>3. Junta conducts further airstrikes on Burae Thonesu Village in Mogok Township with 250-lb bombs<\/strong><br><em>September 22, 2025<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Ta\u2019ang National Liberation Army (TNLA) reported on the morning of September 22 that the terrorist military group once again dropped two 250-pound bombs from the air on Burae Thonesu Village in Mogok Township, Military Region No. 2 of Ta\u2019ang territory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>TNLA said that on September 21, at about 2:20 p.m., the junta had already bombed Burae Thonesu Village, where no fighting was taking place, and the bomb exploded on a poultry farm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On September 20, the junta also carried out a deliberate drone strike on Lwel Am Village, Kyaukme Township, targeting civilians despite no ongoing clashes, causing damage to a Buddhist monastery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to reports, in September alone, the junta launched&nbsp;<strong>five aerial bombings<\/strong>&nbsp;in Kyaukme Township,&nbsp;<strong>one in Hsipaw Township<\/strong>, and&nbsp;<strong>one in Mogok Township<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As a result of these latest bombings, one man and two women were injured, while&nbsp;<strong>17 houses, one school, one monastery, and one vehicle<\/strong>&nbsp;were damaged.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>TNLA warned civilians to always remain alert to the junta\u2019s airstrikes and stressed the importance of adhering to protective measures against aerial attacks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>========================<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\ud83d\udea9\ud83d\udea9&nbsp;<strong>4. Junta attempts to retake Lay Kay Kaw New Town with heavy artillery fire<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the southern part of Myawaddy Township, Karen State, near the Thai-Myanmar border, the junta launched an offensive with three columns starting from the early morning of September 22 in an attempt to retake Lay Kay Kaw New Town. They have been continuously shelling the area with heavy artillery, according to reports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Military sources stated that columns from Light Infantry Division 22 and Light Infantry Division 55 had been advancing from Myawaddy towards Lay Kay Kaw in recent days, while today the junta\u2019s 275th Light Infantry Battalion, stationed in Myawaddy as the town guard, provided artillery support toward Lay Kay Kaw.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A source said:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe junta troops from (275) are firing artillery into Lay Kay Kaw, round after round in groups of three.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Residents in Thailand\u2019s Mae Sot Township also confirmed that the sounds of continuous heavy artillery fire from the junta were clearly audible across the border.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Following the recapture of Thingan Nyi Naung outpost\u2014the gateway to Myawaddy\u2014the junta has been conducting offensives against KNU-controlled areas in the southern part of Myawaddy Township.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After seizing Lakhat Taung Base Camp in recent days, the junta has also pushed its offensive towards Lay Kay Kaw.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Military sources further reported that the junta aims not only to seize Lay Kay Kaw but also to secure control of the Myawaddy\u2013Waw Lay road and eventually retake Waw Lay and Sukali Towns.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lay Kay Kaw New Town, established in 2015 with the support of Japan\u2019s Nippon Foundation, consists of over 600 houses and around 3,000 residents, with security managed by the Karen National Union (KNU).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Since the 2021 coup, Lay Kay Kaw became a refuge for anti-junta dissidents. In December 2021, junta forces entered the town to carry out raids and arrests, leading to armed clashes with the KNU\u2019s 27th Battalion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>========================<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\ud83d\udea9\ud83d\udea9&nbsp;<strong>5. Gas pipeline security police in Taungtha Township arrested and raped a woman from Min Kan Village<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It has been reported that in Taungtha Township, Mandalay Region, police assigned to guard the Chinese gas pipeline arrested a woman from Min Kan Village and committed rape.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to the Taungtha People\u2019s Movement Committee, the incident occurred on September 7, around 6:00 p.m., near the grandparents\u2019 gate, where Chinese pipeline security police arrested a woman from Min Kan Village under the pretense of conducting an inspection and then committed rape. The Committee has officially confirmed this case.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The victimized woman was on her way home from work when she was detained by the Chinese pipeline guards, who told her she needed to be inspected. They assured that she would be released by 9:00 p.m. that evening, but she was not freed until the following morning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Although a case was opened at the Taungtha Police Station regarding this incident, it is reported that the Township Military Commission has taken no effective action so far.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Similarly, since September 10, while stationed in Ywun Sigi, forces from the Myinchan People\u2019s Defense Force together with a combined police unit from Mobye\u2019s 5th Police Battalion have arrested no fewer than six women. They have been confined inside a house where they were forced into sexual acts and subjected to repeated rapes on a daily basis, according to the Taungtha People\u2019s Movement Committee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>========================<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\ud83d\udea9\ud83d\udea9&nbsp;<strong>6. Two soldiers conscripted by the terrorist junta in Tanintharyi Township defect to the revolution<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Karen National Union (KNU), Myeik\u2013Dawei District, announced that two soldiers who had been forcibly conscripted by the terrorist junta in Tanintharyi (Tanawthari) Township defected to the revolution on September 20.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It is reported that the two soldiers from the junta\u2019s 280th Infantry Battalion defected to the Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA), 4th Brigade, 11th Battalion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>These two men had originally been working in Thailand when they were arrested and deported back to Myanmar through Kawthaung.
