AA increases security measures to prevent ARSA and RSO insurgent infiltration along the border

September 20

The Arakan Army (AA) announced that it will step up security measures to prevent and eliminate terrorist activities by ARSA (Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army) and RSO (Rohingya Solidarity Organization) insurgents, who have established footholds inside Bangladesh and are attempting to infiltrate across the border.

According to AA, these armed insurgent groups have been carrying out killings targeting non-Muslim civilians in border areas, prompting a security warning urging residents to remain vigilant.

At present, in areas of Rakhine State seized and controlled by the Arakan Army, the organization is carrying out both public administrative services and security responsibilities, while simultaneously resisting counteroffensives launched by the junta’s military.

In this situation, ARSA and RSO fighters have taken advantage of gaps in security to infiltrate through Nat River and Mayu Mountain routes into Maungdaw District from bases inside Bangladesh, according to a statement from the United League of Arakan/Arakan Army (ULA/AA).

The ULA/AA further warned that these extremist Islamic groups, having entered Maungdaw District, are ambushing civilians—especially non-Muslims—who go into remote forests and hills to gather vegetables, cut firewood, or go shopping. Recent days have seen continued incidents of shootings, abductions, and killings.

In addition, AA reported that extremist groups are also fabricating false battle scenes that resemble clashes with the Arakan Army, using such propaganda to rally greater support.

One tactic noted was the abduction and killing of non-Muslim Rakhine civilians in remote areas, dressing the victims in AA uniforms, and then spreading manipulated photos and reports on social media. This, the AA says, is designed to deceive international observers and secure more sympathy, support, and funding for these extremist groups.

Because ARSA and RSO are threatening the lives, homes, and property of the Arakan people living in the Rakhine-Bangladesh border region, the Arakan Army has warned local people that this is a time to remain extremely vigilant regarding personal security.

They urged civilians living in these border areas:

To avoid traveling alone or in very small groups into forests, mountains, or remote areas.

If travel is necessary for health reasons or other urgent matters, to first inform and coordinate with the nearest administrative and security units of the Arakan People’s Revolutionary Government.

The AA also called on all Arakan civilians living along the Rakhine-Bangladesh border to actively cooperate with ULA/AA in addressing these threats.

At present, the ULA/AA stated it is engaged in daily defensive operations in Rakhine and surrounding areas against the junta’s counteroffensives.

========================

🚩🚩 2.
