International Day of Democracy 2025 Commemorative Ceremony Successfully Held<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>September 15<\/strong><br><em>Radio NUG<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On&nbsp;<strong>September 15, International Day of Democracy<\/strong>, the commemorative ceremony was successfully organized under the leadership of the Committee Representing Pyidaungsu Hluttaw (CRPH).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In attendance at the ceremony were Acting President of the National Unity Government (NUG)&nbsp;<strong>Duwa Lashi La<\/strong>, NUG Prime Minister&nbsp;<strong>Mahn Winn Khaing Thann<\/strong>, CRPH Chairman&nbsp;<strong>U Aung Kyi Nyunt<\/strong>, members of the CRPH, members of State and Regional Parliaments, Union Ministers, political parties, representatives of domestic and international ally organizations, foreign diplomats, as well as CDMers from respective ministries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During the ceremony, commemorative speeches for International Day of Democracy were delivered by Acting President Duwa Lashi La, NUG Prime Minister Mahn Winn Khaing Thann, and CRPH Chairman U Aung Kyi Nyunt. Hon.&nbsp;<strong>Mercy Chriesty Barends<\/strong>, Chairperson of ASEAN Parliamentarians for Human Rights (APHR), gave a keynote message marking the day, while&nbsp;<strong>Mr. KONDO Shoichi<\/strong>, Chairperson of the Japan Parliamentary Support Group for Myanmar Democracy (GIREN), delivered a video message of solidarity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On behalf of the National Unity Consultative Council (NUCC),&nbsp;<strong>Daw Nhin Nhin Hmway<\/strong>&nbsp;read a message of goodwill. A joint message from State and Federal Unit Parliaments and Parliamentary Committees was read by&nbsp;<strong>Daw Nyo Nyo Oo<\/strong>, MP for Constituency No. (1), Setuttara Township, Magway Federal Unit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Additionally, commemorative messages were read by:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Dr. May Win Myint<\/strong>, representing the National League for Democracy (NLD),<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Mine Naing Gon Zar<\/strong>, representing the Ta\u2019ang National Party,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Potato<\/strong>, a student from Wan Zin Online University, representing the collective statement sent by students involved in the Nonviolent Civil Disobedience Movement and studying at public universities.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Afterward,&nbsp;<strong>U Min Ko Naing<\/strong>&nbsp;delivered a keynote message.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The event also included the screening of a video documenting the decades-long struggles of the Myanmar people for democracy, and goodwill messages sent to the ceremony were officially recorded. The event successfully concluded at&nbsp;<strong>11:41 a.m.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>========================<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\ud83d\udccc\ud83d\udccc&nbsp;<strong>2. 9th Meeting (2025) of the Union-Level Natural Resource Management Committee Held<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>September 15<\/strong><br><em>Radio NUG<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The 9th meeting (2025) of the Union-Level Natural Resource Management Committee was held in two parts: the&nbsp;<strong>first session on September 8, 2025<\/strong>, and the&nbsp;<strong>second session on September 14, 2025<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The meetings were attended by the committee chair, NUG Prime Minister&nbsp;<strong>Mahn Winn Khaing Thann<\/strong>; the deputy chairpersons; Union Ministers, Deputy Ministers, and Permanent Secretaries from the Ministries of Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation, Home Affairs and Immigration, Defense, Planning, Finance and Investment, and Electricity and Energy; as well as responsible officials from the Prime Minister\u2019s Office and the Secretariat of the Union-Level Natural Resource Management Committee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At the meeting, Chairperson Prime Minister Mahn Winn Khaing Thann delivered the opening remarks. Responsible officials from relevant sectors presented issues related to natural resource management. The chair and committee members then held discussions and gave recommendations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Following the discussions, resolutions and next steps for the committee\u2019s work were adopted. Consultation Meeting Between Respected and Trusted Figures, Protest Leaders, and Sagaing Federal Unit Parliament on the Draft Interim Constitution of the Sagaing Federal Unit<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>September 15<\/strong><br><em>Radio NUG<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On&nbsp;<strong>September 15 at 1:30 p.m.<\/strong>, respected and trusted figures, along with protest leaders who participated in drafting the&nbsp;<strong>Draft Interim Constitution of the Sagaing Federal Unit<\/strong>, held a consultation meeting with the Sagaing Federal Unit Parliament via&nbsp;<strong>Zoom platform<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The meeting was attended by the Speaker, Deputy Speaker, and representatives of the Sagaing Federal Unit Parliament. The Speaker delivered opening remarks and explained the forward process regarding the Interim Constitution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Participants then exchanged views openly and constructively on future steps to be carried out under the Draft Interim Constitution of the Sagaing Federal Unit. Mandalay Region Special Parliamentary Session to Approve the Draft Interim Political Program to Be Live-Broadcast<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>September 15<\/strong><br><em>Radio NUG<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On&nbsp;<strong>September 16, 2025<\/strong>, the Mandalay Region Parliament will hold&nbsp;<strong>Special Session (3\/2025)<\/strong>&nbsp;to approve and adopt the&nbsp;<strong>Draft Interim Political Program of the Mandalay Region<\/strong>. The parliamentary session will be broadcast live by the media at&nbsp;<strong>9:00 a.m.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The draft Interim Political Program was prepared by the&nbsp;<strong>Drafting and Coordination Committee for the Mandalay Region Interim Political Program<\/strong>. It was previously endorsed in principle by the&nbsp;<strong>Mandalay Region Joint Coordination Platform of Revolutionary Forces<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Mandalay Region Parliament will now officially approve and promulgate the Interim Political Program in accordance with parliamentary procedures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>========================<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\ud83d\udccc\ud83d\udccc&nbsp;<strong>5. Over 507 Children Killed in Massacres by the Terrorist Military Junta<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>September 15<\/strong><br><em>Radio NUG<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Between&nbsp;<strong>February 2021 and August 31, 2025<\/strong>, at least&nbsp;<strong>507 children under the age of 18<\/strong>&nbsp;were killed in massacres committed by the terrorist military junta, according to the Ministry of Human Rights.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Based on the ministry\u2019s records, in&nbsp;<strong>August alone<\/strong>, the junta carried out&nbsp;<strong>22 massacres<\/strong>, killing&nbsp;<strong>225 civilians<\/strong>, including&nbsp;<strong>39 children under 18<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Similarly, from&nbsp;<strong>2023 to August 31, 2025<\/strong>, records show that&nbsp;<strong>546 children under the age of 18<\/strong>&nbsp;were killed and&nbsp;<strong>815 were injured<\/strong>&nbsp;in airstrikes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>One of the most recent incidents, which has&nbsp;<strong>not yet been included in this tally<\/strong>, was the&nbsp;<strong>September 12<\/strong>&nbsp;airstrike by the Military Commission on&nbsp;<strong>Pannya Pyoe Khin Private High School<\/strong>&nbsp;in&nbsp;<strong>Thayet Ta Pin Village, Kyauktaw Township, Rakhine State<\/strong>, where at least&nbsp;<strong>20 students<\/strong>&nbsp;were killed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The junta has not only engaged in massacres and airstrikes against innocent children, but has also forcibly conscripted child soldiers. Records show that&nbsp;<strong>28 children under the age of 18<\/strong>&nbsp;were unlawfully abducted and forced into military service.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>========================<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\ud83d\udccc\ud83d\udccc&nbsp;<strong>6. ASEAN Parliamentarians Condemn Myanmar Military\u2019s School Attack, Call for Urgent ASEAN Intervention<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>September 15<\/strong><br><em>Radio NUG<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The&nbsp;<strong>ASEAN Parliamentarians for Human Rights (APHR)<\/strong>, consisting of parliamentarians from across Southeast Asia, issued a statement&nbsp;<strong>strongly condemning the Myanmar military\u2019s airstrike<\/strong>&nbsp;on&nbsp;<strong>Pannya Pyoe Khin Private High School in Thayet Ta Pin Village, Kyauktaw Township, Rakhine State<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The statement noted that during an&nbsp;<strong>August 25 airstrike in Mrauk-U<\/strong>, at least&nbsp;<strong>15 people were killed<\/strong>, including children and students, while&nbsp;<strong>18 others were injured<\/strong>. It also highlighted that Rakhine civilians live in constant fear due to daily aerial bombings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThis is a deliberate act of terror targeting children and families. By bombing schools and homes, the military is showing complete disregard for human lives and international law,\u201d said&nbsp;<strong>Mercy Chriesty Barends<\/strong>, Chairperson of APHR and Member of the Indonesian Parliament.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cAs parliamentarians from ASEAN, we cannot allow our governments to silently watch as the Myanmar military continues attacking civilians with impunity. Urgent international action is needed to protect the people of Myanmar and safeguard democracy,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Charles Santiago<\/strong>, APHR Co-Chair and former Malaysian MP, stated:<br>\u201cASEAN must stop shielding the Myanmar military with weak statements and instead fully support Myanmar\u2019s democratic forces.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>APHR stressed that the repeated attacks on schools, homes, and other civilian structures constitute&nbsp;<strong>grave violations of international humanitarian law<\/strong>&nbsp;and amount to&nbsp;<strong>war crimes<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The group called for:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>An\u00a0<strong>immediate halt<\/strong>\u00a0to airstrikes and military attacks on civilians,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Full, unhindered humanitarian access<\/strong>\u00a0to conflict-affected regions,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Prosecution of perpetrators through the\u00a0<strong>International Criminal Court (ICC)<\/strong>,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A\u00a0<strong>global arms embargo<\/strong>, and<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Strict control of\u00a0<strong>aviation fuel supplies<\/strong>\u00a0to prevent further airstrikes.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cASEAN cannot remain silent. Our governments have a responsibility to protect civilians and to stand for the human rights and democracy of the Myanmar people,\u201d said&nbsp;<strong>Rangsiman Rome<\/strong>, APHR Board Member and Member of the Thai Parliament.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>APHR further warned:<br>\u201cThis massacre is not only a reminder of the junta\u2019s impunity but also a direct challenge to ASEAN\u2019s credibility.
