NUG Urges China with Three Key Demands, Including Ending the Reference to the Coup Leader as “Acting President”

September 3

The National Unity Government (NUG) has formally urged the Chinese government with three key demands, including an immediate end to referring to the violent coup leader as the “Acting President.”

On September 1, NUG Minister of Foreign Affairs Daw Zin Mar Aung, on behalf of the NUG and the people of Myanmar, sent an official letter containing these three demands to the Government of the People’s Republic of China.

The letter highlights that under the command of coup leader Min Aung Hlaing, the terrorist military has systematically and broadly carried out brutal violence, devastating Myanmar’s economy, pushing nearly half of the population into poverty, and obstructing foreign investment.

Furthermore, it stresses that major economic infrastructures, including projects under the China-Myanmar Economic Corridor (CMEC) — jointly signed by President Xi Jinping and President U Win Myint in 2020 — have been severely harmed and disrupted.

At the recent Mekong-Lancang meeting, President Xi Jinping emphasized Myanmar’s three priority areas: peace, cessation of armed conflict, and governance based on the will of the people. However, the terrorist junta is attempting to stage an illegal, sham election under coercion and without the people’s consent, the NUG reminded China in its letter.

The letter also underscores that the NUG, ethnic revolutionary organizations, and People’s Defense Forces enjoy the overwhelming support of the people, and are not only fighting to overthrow the dictatorship but also working toward a federal democratic future. It points out that only a united revolution — grounded in inclusivity, equality, and self-determination — can bring Myanmar lasting peace, stability, and sustainable development.

Daw Zin Mar Aung also warned that China’s invitation to the coup leader, who is rejected by the people, risks provoking a strong backlash from Myanmar’s citizens and could damage the longstanding friendship between the peoples of Myanmar and China.

Therefore, the NUG urged China to:

Halt recognition of the terrorist junta.

Reject monitoring of the junta’s planned sham election.

Cease referring to the coup leader as the “Acting President.”

The NUG further expressed its belief that China can continue to play a constructive role in Myanmar’s path toward peace and development, as reflected in the letter sent by NUG Minister Daw Zin Mar Aung.

========================

📌📌 2. Myanmar Ambassador to the UN Urges UNICEF to Demand Immediate Halt to Military’s Violence Against Children, Including Airstrikes

September 3

Ambassador U Kyaw Moe Tun, Myanmar’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, has urged UNICEF to call for an immediate end to military violence against children, including airstrikes on civilians.

He made this appeal during his remarks at the second regular session of the UNICEF Executive Board for 2025.

He highlighted that the terrorist military continues to commit atrocities against the entire Myanmar population, including children, who are bearing the heaviest burden of this violence.

According to the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, in 2024 alone, the terrorist military killed 248 children — a figure that accounts for a significant portion of all civilian casualties.

He stressed that only the complete eradication of military dictatorship and the establishment of a Federal Democratic Union can ensure children’s safety, their right to quality education and healthcare, and protection from forced conscription, child labor, and exploitation.

The ambassador further urged the international community to prioritize Myanmar’s crisis, stand in solidarity with its people, and, most importantly, implement timely and effective actions. He underscored that this is a matter of humanity and the international community must not turn away from Myanmar’s children.

========================

📌📌 3. Human Rights and Airstrike Risk Awareness Talk Held in Setuttara Township

September 3

The Ministry of Human Rights of the National Unity Government (NUG) has announced that a public awareness talk on human rights and protection from airstrike dangers was held in Setuttara Township, Magway Region, during August.

The event was jointly organized by the Human Rights Department and the Public Administration Committee, with the attendance of 103 civilians, including students, teachers, and local residents.

One participant remarked:

“Previously, I only thought ground offensives violated human rights. But through this talk, I came to understand that airstrikes are also clear violations of human rights.”

According to the Ministry of Human Rights, its human rights officers are consistently conducting grassroots-level awareness campaigns to strengthen the public’s understanding of human rights and to enhance community safety and protection in towns and villages.

========================

📌📌 5. 139 Democracy Activists and Civilians Killed in August Alone by the Terrorist Junta, Including 14 Who Died After Arrest

September 3

According to the Assistance Association for Political Prisoners (AAPP), a total of 139 democracy activists and civilians were killed across Myanmar in the month of August due to the terrorist junta’s actions. Among them, 14 died after being arrested and detained.

Based on information collected by AAPP, three individuals were arrested on political grounds during August 2025. At the same time, 139 people — including democracy activists and ordinary civilians — lost their lives, with 14 of them confirmed to have died after detention under various circumstances.

AAPP also noted that an additional estimated 185 deaths in August remain under verification, with efforts ongoing to confirm the exact figures.

AAPP Joint Secretary Ko Bo Kyi commented:

“Hospitals, schools, ordinary civilian homes, as well as children, women, and the general public must never be considered military targets. Yet the illegitimate coup military continues to carry out daily airstrikes, heavy artillery shelling, and unlawful killings in such civilian areas. These crimes are happening not only in other parts of the world but also in Myanmar today. Neighboring countries, including ASEAN, are well aware of these atrocities. Despite this, they continue to engage with the junta under so-called ‘constructive’ approaches. But more than four years since the coup, the crimes have only worsened. ASEAN and neighboring states must reassess their policies of engagement with the junta.”

This news report was provided by Radio NUG correspondents Tharki and Ko Khant.

#RadioNUGLocalNews

#SpringRevolution

Myanmar Domestic News Updates – Sep 03, 2025 Evening 📌📌 1.
