Myanmar Ambassador to the UN sends emergency letter to UN Secretary-General on Myanmar crisis<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>September 1<\/strong><br><em>Radio NUG<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Myanmar\u2019s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador U Kyaw Moe Tun, sent an emergency letter on&nbsp;<strong>August 29<\/strong>&nbsp;to UN Secretary-General&nbsp;<strong>H.E. Mr. Ant\u00f3nio Guterres<\/strong>&nbsp;regarding the grave situation in Myanmar, according to reports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The letter included the latest situation updates in Myanmar up to&nbsp;<strong>August 15<\/strong>, and was also shared with&nbsp;<strong>H.E. Mr. Philemon Yang<\/strong>, President of the 79th Session of the UN General Assembly,&nbsp;<strong>H.E. Ms. Annalena Baerbock<\/strong>, President-elect of the 80th Session, as well as with other permanent representatives and observers to the UN.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to the Ambassador\u2019s data:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Since the coup on\u00a0<strong>February 1, 2021<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>7,066 civilians<\/strong>\u00a0have been killed and\u00a0<strong>29,549 people<\/strong>\u00a0arbitrarily arrested by the military junta.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Airstrikes have sharply increased from\u00a0<strong>346 attacks before the Noto earthquake<\/strong>\u00a0to\u00a0<strong>536 afterward<\/strong>. In the three months following the earthquake, more than\u00a0<strong>750 civilians were killed<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>over 1,400 injured<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Since 2021,\u00a0<strong>190 political prisoners<\/strong>\u00a0have died due to torture and denial of healthcare. By\u00a0<strong>July 2025<\/strong>, the total number of prison deaths had exceeded\u00a0<strong>1,800<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>More than\u00a0<strong>3.5 million people<\/strong>\u00a0have been displaced by conflict.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Over\u00a0<strong>20 million people<\/strong>\u2014including\u00a0<strong>10.4 million women and girls<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>6.3 million children<\/strong>\u2014are facing worsening hardship due to the junta\u2019s road blockades and obstruction of humanitarian aid.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In\u00a0<strong>Rakhine State<\/strong>, an emergency famine situation has emerged. A WFP (World Food Programme) statement on\u00a0<strong>August 12<\/strong>\u00a0warned that\u00a0<strong>57% of families in central Rakhine<\/strong>\u00a0cannot afford basic food items.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Similarly, on&nbsp;<strong>August 19<\/strong>, the UN Security Council was warned that the junta\u2019s planned sham election would lack freedom and fairness, and could serve as a license for the military to continue committing crimes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Japan\u2019s Foreign Minister&nbsp;<strong>IWAYA Takeshi<\/strong>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<strong>International IDEA<\/strong>&nbsp;also stated that the junta\u2019s elections cannot be accepted. Likewise, the&nbsp;<strong>Independent Press Council Myanmar (IPCM)<\/strong>&nbsp;condemned the junta\u2019s repressive laws curbing media freedom and internet access.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Therefore, Ambassador U Kyaw Moe Tun urged the international community to take&nbsp;<strong>decisive and effective action<\/strong>&nbsp;to end the suffering of the Myanmar people, immediately&nbsp;<strong>halt the supply of arms, ammunition, jet fuel, and financial support<\/strong>&nbsp;to the junta, and keep Myanmar at the&nbsp;<strong>center of sustained international attention and action<\/strong>. He appealed for full support for the people of Myanmar in order to end military dictatorship and build a&nbsp;<strong>federal democratic union<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>========================<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\ud83d\udccc\ud83d\udccc&nbsp;<strong>2. \u201cSafe Schools, Safe Education\u201d Campaign extended until September 15<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>September 1<\/strong><br><em>Radio NUG<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Ministry of Education under the NUG announced that the&nbsp;<strong>\u201cSafe Schools, Safe Education\u201d Campaign<\/strong>, which aims to ensure children\u2019s right to learn in safety and protection, has been extended until&nbsp;<strong>September 15<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Originally, the USD&nbsp;<strong>400,000 campaign period<\/strong>&nbsp;was set from&nbsp;<strong>July 15 to August 31<\/strong>, but it has now been extended by two more weeks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Ministry has called for donations and support for the campaign, stressing the need to provide children in Myanmar with safe and secure learning opportunities in schools equipped with protection measures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>========================<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\ud83d\udccc\ud83d\udccc&nbsp;<strong>3. NLD expels Paletwa MP preparing to participate in junta\u2019s sham election<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>September 1<\/strong><br><em>Radio NUG<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The National League for Democracy (NLD) has announced the expulsion of&nbsp;<strong>U Soe Htet (aka Salai Mello)<\/strong>, State Hluttaw MP for&nbsp;<strong>Paletwa Township<\/strong>, who was preparing to participate in the junta\u2019s sham election.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to the NLD\u2019s Central Executive Committee, the party had already prohibited participation in the illegitimate election organized by the military junta, as recognizing or joining it would lend political legitimacy to the unlawful coup regime.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Defying this directive and going against the will of the people, U Soe Htet sought to contest under the junta\u2019s election system. As a result, the NLD officially declared him&nbsp;<strong>expelled from the party<\/strong>&nbsp;for failing to abide by party decisions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>U Soe Htet was not only a&nbsp;<strong>member of the NLD\u2019s Paletwa Township Executive Committee<\/strong>, but also the&nbsp;<strong>elected State Hluttaw MP for Paletwa Constituency (1)<\/strong>&nbsp;in the&nbsp;<strong>2020 election<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It is learned that on&nbsp;<strong>July 10<\/strong>, U Soe Htet registered the&nbsp;<strong>Chin State Congress Party (NCC)<\/strong>&nbsp;with the junta\u2019s election commission. Justice For Myanmar calls on Chinese and Indian leaders to end collaboration with Myanmar junta<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>September 1<\/strong><br><em>Radio NUG<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Justice For Myanmar has issued a statement urging the international community to step up pressure on Chinese President&nbsp;<strong>Xi Jinping<\/strong>&nbsp;and Indian Prime Minister&nbsp;<strong>Narendra Modi<\/strong>&nbsp;to halt their expanding collaboration with Myanmar junta leader&nbsp;<strong>Min Aung Hlaing<\/strong>. The group emphasized the need for both leaders to stop supporting the junta while it continues committing atrocities and crimes against humanity against the people of Myanmar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>President Xi invited Min Aung Hlaing to attend the&nbsp;<strong>Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit<\/strong>&nbsp;in Tianjin, which was also attended by the Indian Prime Minister and the Russian President. At the summit, Xi pledged to further strengthen Myanmar-China \u201cstrategic partnership relations\u201d in security, border stability, and development with Chinese assistance. Justice For Myanmar highlighted that China continues to provide the junta with arms, financial support, and other aid\u2014directly enabling and legitimizing its ongoing violence against civilians.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Similarly, Indian Prime Minister&nbsp;<strong>Narendra Modi<\/strong>&nbsp;held a separate bilateral meeting with Min Aung Hlaing during the SCO Summit. They discussed expanding cooperation in trade, mining, energy, communications, and security. Justice For Myanmar noted that India\u2019s provision of military support risks directly aiding the junta in its violent suppression of pro-democracy protests.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition, both China and India have supported Myanmar junta\u2019s bid for SCO membership. Activists criticized this as granting&nbsp;<strong>political recognition<\/strong>&nbsp;to the junta\u2019s illegitimate elections. Human rights groups are demanding that China and India immediately end all political and military cooperation with the junta and impose an&nbsp;<strong>arms embargo<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>========================<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\ud83d\udccc\ud83d\udccc&nbsp;<strong>5. Daughter of Funeral Support Association Chair runs Sydney Marathon in Myanmar traditional dress, sets Guinness World Record to raise global awareness on Myanmar crisis<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>September 1<\/strong><br><em>Radio NUG<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At the&nbsp;<strong>Sydney Marathon 2025<\/strong>&nbsp;in Australia,&nbsp;<strong>Dr. Myint Mo Oo<\/strong>, daughter of&nbsp;<strong>U Kyaw Thu<\/strong>&nbsp;(Chairperson of the Funeral Support Association) and&nbsp;<strong>Daw Shwe Zee Kwat<\/strong>, ran in Myanmar traditional attire to raise awareness for Myanmar. She completed the&nbsp;<strong>42.2 km (26.2 miles)<\/strong>&nbsp;distance in&nbsp;<strong>4 hours, 12 minutes, 19 seconds<\/strong>, setting a&nbsp;<strong>Guinness World Record<\/strong>, according to&nbsp;<em>Heart Beams Rising<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The marathon took place on&nbsp;<strong>August 31<\/strong>, where Dr. Myint Mo Oo chose to run not in sportswear, but in traditional Myanmar dress.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Her participation also served as a public statement against the military junta\u2019s&nbsp;<strong>illegal sham elections<\/strong>, its&nbsp;<strong>airstrikes and bombings on innocent civilians<\/strong>, and its&nbsp;<strong>brutal killings<\/strong>&nbsp;in Myanmar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>========================<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\ud83d\udccc\ud83d\udccc&nbsp;<strong>6. IDPs from Kyaukme and Hsipaw supported with food and aid by TWO and SSPP\/SSA<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>September 1<\/strong><br><em>Radio NUG<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On&nbsp;<strong>August 28<\/strong>, the&nbsp;<strong>Ta\u2019ang Women\u2019s Organization (TWO)<\/strong>&nbsp;provided essential food supplies to internally displaced persons (IDPs) sheltering in&nbsp;<strong>Swat Lan Village, Hsipaw Township<\/strong>. These IDPs had fled from Kyaukme Township, Nawngcho Township, and neighborhoods in Hsipaw town.
