The Karenni National Progressive Party (KNPP) has officially welcomed the Thai government\u2019s decision to grant legal work rights to Myanmar war refugees currently sheltering along the Thai-Myanmar border.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Thai government confirmed on August 25<\/strong> that refugees who have been residing for decades in temporary shelters along the Thai-Myanmar border will be allowed to legally work in Thailand. KNPP issued its statement in response to this development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

KNPP recalled that armed conflicts broke out in 1988, 1995, and 1996<\/strong> following mass uprisings and the military\u2019s repeated violations of ceasefire agreements. These conflicts, along with the regime\u2019s forced and unlawful displacement of civilians<\/strong>, forced large numbers of Karenni people to flee into Thailand for safety.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to KNPP\u2019s statement, since 2001<\/strong>, the UNHCR and Thai authorities have facilitated third-country resettlement for refugees, which enabled many Karenni people to migrate and resettle abroad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 2012<\/strong>, the UNHCR attempted to initiate a voluntary repatriation program, but Myanmar\u2019s government did not cooperate or participate in the process, KNPP further highlighted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Currently, about 128,000 refugees<\/strong>\u2014including 28,000 Karenni refugees<\/strong> living in two refugee camps along the Thai-Myanmar border\u2014have long relied on humanitarian aid for survival.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

UNHCR has also reported that after the military coup in 2021<\/strong>, the total number of war-displaced people across Myanmar has reached 3.53 million<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In Karenni State alone, nearly 150,000 people<\/strong> are currently displaced, forced to live in forests, mountains, and near-border villages, leaving them in desperate need of humanitarian assistance, KNPP emphasized.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

KNPP also pointed out that in early 2025<\/strong>, global humanitarian funding cuts left millions of displaced persons worldwide\u2014including those from Myanmar\u2014without critical life-saving assistance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Amid such circumstances, KNPP declared that the Thai government\u2019s recent decision carries immense significance for the Karenni people. On behalf of the Karenni community, KNPP expressed its gratitude to the Thai Royal Family, the Thai government, and the people of Thailand<\/strong> for their support.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The First Assembly of the Mandalay Region Revolutionary Joint Forces Coordination Forum<\/strong> will be held on September 2, 2025<\/strong>, where the Draft Interim Political Program for the Mandalay Region<\/strong> will be given preliminary approval<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The opening ceremony of the forum will be broadcast live through media outlets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The draft Interim Political Program was developed by the Mandalay Region Interim Political Program Drafting and Coordination Committee<\/strong>. The Coordination Forum is responsible for giving the program preliminary approval. Once approved, the draft will be submitted to the Mandalay Region Parliament<\/strong>, which will formally ratify and promulgate it in accordance with parliamentary procedures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since August 2023<\/strong>, elected representatives from the 2020 general election<\/strong> representing Mandalay Region, along with revolutionary forces in the region\u2014including the Committee Representing Mandalay Hluttaw (CRMH)<\/strong>\u2014have been exchanging views and discussions on the necessity and processes for formulating an interim political program for the region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The \u201cUnite for Victory: Mon & Tanintharyi One Million Baht Campaign\u201d<\/strong> has issued a public call for greater participation after reporting that current contributions remain far below the target.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As of its 31st day<\/strong>, the campaign has only reached 21%<\/strong> of its fundraising goal, leaving 79%<\/strong> still needed to be achieved. The organizers expressed their sincere gratitude to all revolutionary supporters who have already contributed, while appealing once again to the public to assist the Yegyaw Guerrilla Force (YGF)<\/strong> fighters with whatever support they can provide before the campaign deadline.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the campaign statement, the YGF fighters<\/strong>, alongside allied revolutionary forces, are engaged in intense battles at the frontlines. The campaign is intended to provide urgently needed supplies for these fighters, and therefore, all revolution supporters are invited to contribute to help achieve the fundraising target.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It has been reported that only a limited number of tickets remain available for the upcoming \u201cYaung Ni Live in NYC\u201d<\/strong> concert, which will take place in New York City, United States, on September 13<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

New York City\u2014famously known worldwide and within the U.S. as \u201cThe Big Apple\u201d<\/strong> or \u201cThe City That Never Sleeps\u201d<\/strong>\u2014is a bustling city alive 24\/7. In the same spirit, the revolutionary Yaung Ni group<\/strong>, whose passion never fades, will bring their energy to the great city on September 13 at 4:00 PM<\/strong>, performing a grand and spirited concert.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The organizers stated that this event is not only a performance but also a gathering with Myanmar New Yorkers, to proudly demonstrate that the revolutionary spirit of Myanmar people abroad \u201cnever sleeps\u201d<\/strong> and continues to burn strongly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

They expressed confidence that, with the unwavering determination of Myanmar New Yorkers and the revolutionary spirit of Yaung Ni Live in NYC, the concert will be a success. Tickets priced at $200, $250, $300, and $500<\/strong> are still available in limited numbers, and supporters are encouraged to secure them soon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The statement further noted that 100% of the proceeds from the concert will go directly to support the revolutionary ground forces<\/strong>, with detailed announcements on fund allocation to follow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
