Ministry of Defense of the NUG Holds Senior Commanders\u2019 Meeting; 10 Regional Commands Formed and Actively Leading Battalions in Combat<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>August 28<\/strong><br><em>Radio NUG<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The&nbsp;<strong>Ministry of Defense of the National Unity Government (NUG)<\/strong>&nbsp;announced that the&nbsp;<strong>People\u2019s Defense Force (PDF) Senior Commanders\u2019 Meeting (1\/2025)<\/strong>&nbsp;was successfully held on&nbsp;<strong>August 23\u201325, 2025<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The meeting was chaired by the&nbsp;<strong>Commander-in-Chief<\/strong>, with participation from the&nbsp;<strong>Deputy Commander-in-Chief<\/strong>, other senior staff of the Central Command, the&nbsp;<strong>Commander of Military Region No. 1<\/strong>, senior commanders of the PDF, regional commanders and deputy regional commanders of the 10 Regional Commands, as well as senior officials of the Ministry of Defense.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The meeting was held with the aim of ensuring continued military victories in the People\u2019s Resistance War, building the PDF and allied defense forces into a disciplined, systematically organized, and command-driven military institution, and ultimately defeating the terrorist junta.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At present, under the Central Command of the PDF,&nbsp;<strong>10 Regional Commands<\/strong>&nbsp;have been formed and are actively coordinating battalions and units in combat. Attack on Southern Regional Military Headquarters Leaves 2 Junta Officers and 4 Soldiers Dead<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>August 28<\/strong><br><em>Radio NUG<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to a statement by&nbsp;<strong>Black Warrior for Myanmar (BWM)<\/strong>, an attack on the&nbsp;<strong>Southern Regional Military Headquarters of the junta<\/strong>, based in&nbsp;<strong>Taungoo<\/strong>, resulted in the deaths of&nbsp;<strong>2 officers<\/strong>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<strong>4 soldiers<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On&nbsp;<strong>August 26<\/strong>, BWM led the operation together with the&nbsp;<strong>Mountain Knight Civilian Defense Forces (MKCDF)<\/strong>, the&nbsp;<strong>Anti-Coup People\u2019s Liberation Force (ACPLF)<\/strong>, and&nbsp;<strong>2 battalions of KNLA Brigade 2<\/strong>, firing&nbsp;<strong>9 short-range 107 mm rockets<\/strong>&nbsp;at the junta\u2019s Southern Regional Command headquarters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Reports indicate that in the course of the attack, 2 officers and 4 other soldiers were killed, while 4 more were injured.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Additionally, one officer\u2019s residence was hit and burned down, and part of a bachelor officers\u2019 quarters building was destroyed by fire.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>========================<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\ud83d\udea9\ud83d\udea9&nbsp;<strong>3. Bhamo Clashes: Battalion Commander Colonel Khant Htet Naung and Many Junta Soldiers Killed<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>August 28<\/strong><br><em>Radio NUG<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In&nbsp;<strong>Bhamo, Kachin State<\/strong>, during urban assault operations by the&nbsp;<strong>Kachin Independence Army (KIA)<\/strong>&nbsp;and allied resistance forces, junta forces suffered heavy casualties, including the death of&nbsp;<strong>Colonel Khant Htet Naung<\/strong>, the commander of&nbsp;<strong>Infantry Battalion 319<\/strong>, along with many soldiers, according to KIA military sources.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On&nbsp;<strong>August 25<\/strong>, during the battle, a drone strike by resistance forces dropped bombs that killed Colonel Khant Htet Naung, who was a graduate of the&nbsp;<strong>61st intake of the Defense Services Academy<\/strong>. He was originally from Bhamo and had only been reassigned to the area about two months ago.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Intense clashes took place in Bhamo on&nbsp;<strong>August 24 and 25<\/strong>, resulting in heavy junta casualties. At present, bodies of junta soldiers are reportedly being gathered near the&nbsp;<strong>junta\u2019s Bhamo Regional Command headquarters (No. 21)<\/strong>. Resistance forces also seized a large cache of weapons and ammunition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>========================<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\ud83d\udea9\ud83d\udea9&nbsp;<strong>4. Junta Column Burns Down 51 Civilian Houses and Kills 2 Civilians in Tharyar Chaung<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>August 28<\/strong><br><em>Radio NUG<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to a joint statement from&nbsp;<strong>PDF Dawei District Battalion 2 (P23302)<\/strong>&nbsp;and the&nbsp;<strong>Karen National Union (KNU)<\/strong>, a junta military column burned down&nbsp;<strong>51 civilian houses<\/strong>&nbsp;and killed&nbsp;<strong>two civilians<\/strong>&nbsp;in&nbsp;<strong>Tharyar Chaung Township, Tanintharyi Region<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>From&nbsp;<strong>August 12 to 25<\/strong>, during a 14-day offensive, the junta column carried out arson attacks on&nbsp;<strong>Utttu<\/strong>,&nbsp;<strong>Sawphya<\/strong>, and&nbsp;<strong>Moeshwe Gon<\/strong>&nbsp;villages, Battalion 2 of Dawei District reported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As a result of these arson attacks,&nbsp;<strong>1 house in Utttu<\/strong>,&nbsp;<strong>35 houses in Sawphya<\/strong>, and&nbsp;<strong>15 houses in Moeshwe Gon<\/strong>\u2014a total of&nbsp;<strong>51 civilian homes<\/strong>\u2014were destroyed by fire.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The KNU also reported that during this operation, junta soldiers&nbsp;<strong>brutally executed 2 civilians<\/strong>&nbsp;from Moeshwe Gon village.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Furthermore, the junta troops&nbsp;<strong>looted 20 houses in Utttu<\/strong>&nbsp;and ransacked all homes and shops in Sawphya and Moeshwe Gon villages, stealing&nbsp;<strong>gold, money, and other valuables<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition, indiscriminate shelling by junta forces damaged another&nbsp;<strong>10 houses<\/strong>&nbsp;in Sawphya and Moeshwe Gon villages.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>========================<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\ud83d\udea9\ud83d\udea9&nbsp;<strong>5. Soldier from Infantry Battalion 591 Defects to YGF with Weapon<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>August 28<\/strong><br><em>Radio NUG<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A soldier from the junta\u2019s&nbsp;<strong>Infantry Battalion 591<\/strong>, stationed at&nbsp;<strong>Sanpya Village, Kyaung Ywa, Ye Township, Mon State<\/strong>, defected to the&nbsp;<strong>Ye Guerrilla Force (YGF)<\/strong>&nbsp;with his weapon, according to YGF\u2019s announcement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On&nbsp;<strong>August 28<\/strong>, the soldier, identified as&nbsp;<strong>S.
