But by early 2025, the frontlines began to <strong>stabilize<\/strong> somewhat. Since mid-2025, however, the junta has resumed offensives\u2014not only militarily but also targeting the <strong>financial and resource flows<\/strong> sustaining the resistance.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>Areas of Current and Planned Offensives<\/h3>\n<p>Across Myanmar, the following areas are under attack or being prepared for offensives:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<p><strong>Kachin State<\/strong>: Hpakant jade mining areas, with offensives of 800\u20131000 troops aimed at cutting KIA revenue; defensive reinforcements in Bhamo (BNI 21 base).<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p><strong>Sagaing Region<\/strong>: Multiple townships facing operations.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p><strong>Magway (Upper Yaw area)<\/strong>: Active fighting.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p><strong>Northern Shan State<\/strong>: Naungcho, Kyaukme, and Mogok under pressure, with offensives aimed at retaking key trade towns along the Mandalay\u2013Muse route.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p><strong>Mandalay Region<\/strong>: Thabeikkyin, Singu\u2014gold-producing areas under attack, with reports of junta retaking Thabeikkyin and recently Pyaung Taung mines in Patheingyi.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p><strong>Southern Shan &amp; Kayah (Karenni) State<\/strong>: Junta recently retook <strong>Demoso<\/strong>, securing the Pinlaung\u2013Hpruso\u2013Loikaw road link.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p><strong>Karen State<\/strong>: Junta blocking border trade routes at Myawaddy and Kawkareik (Asia Highway, old Kawkareik\u2013Thingannyinaung road), aiming to reduce revenues collected by KNU, PDFs, and DKBA.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p><strong>Bago Region (adjacent to Rakhine)<\/strong>: Junta\u2019s goal is to block AA expansion inland rather than retake Rakhine.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p><strong>Tanintharyi Region<\/strong>: Natural gas pipelines crossing the Thai border remain under KNU\/KNLA and KTLA control, though these pipelines don\u2019t generate customs-style revenues like trade routes.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>The Case of Rakhine<\/h3>\n<p>Although the junta <strong>lost almost all of Rakhine State<\/strong> to AA, it has shifted strategy.
