During the battle for the capture of Mindat in Chin State, civilians discovered weapons that junta soldiers\u2014who had fled\u2014had buried and concealed. On August 22, it was announced that local residents handed over these weapons to the Chin Defence Force \u2013 Mindat (CDF Mindat).<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The seized weapons include one MA-15 rifle, one RPG-7, one MA-4 rifle, one MA-3 rifle, and related equipment. Responsible civilians delivered them to the CDF Mindat Headquarters, and CDF Mindat awarded cash rewards to those who handed over the arms.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

CDF Mindat recalled that since the capture of Mindat on December 21, 2024, by the joint Chin Brotherhood Forces, civilians have frequently uncovered hidden weapons and ammunition buried by junta troops as they retreated.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

At around 10:30 a.m. on August 22, two men were shot dead near an intersection on the Lonekhin\u2013Hpakant road and near a jade trading shop in Hmohsisa Village, Hpakant Township, Kachin State, according to local reports.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The victims were identified as Ko Chit Naing (age 45) and an unidentified man in his 30s. Ko Chit Naing sustained four gunshot wounds, while the other victim suffered two gunshot wounds, resulting in their deaths.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The exact perpetrators and the motive behind the shootings remain unknown. Their bodies were retrieved and cleared by a local rescue association, sources said.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition, at around 2:00 p.m. the same day, military convoy vehicles moved toward Hmohsisa Village, during which two mine explosion sounds were heard, according to locals.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the morning of August 22, in Moe Shwe Gu Village, Tharyar Chaung Township, Tanintharyi Region, the terrorist junta forces fired heavy artillery before raiding the village. They entered with military convoys and began setting fire to houses, according to local sources.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Civilian casualties remain unconfirmed, but thousands of residents from Moe Shwe Gu and nearby villages have fled to safety. Junta troops remain deployed inside the village.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Similarly, on August 22, a military column moved out of Buthidaung Township, Sagaing Region, forcing thousands of villagers from over ten nearby villages to flee, according to the Daung Yarzar Pan Martyr Column.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The affected villages include Lwhet Taik, Myauk Taw, Htatan, Myauk Kyi, Thapyay Pin, Shan Taik, Tat Hline, Pae Pyit Taw Shay, and Pae Pyit Taw Naung. Locals are fleeing to avoid arbitrary arrests and killings by junta troops.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The KNDO Headquarters News reported that in Myeik\u2013Tavoy District, Tanintharyi Region, a junta soldier named Maung Nyi Nyi Zaw (age 20) defected with his weapon and ammunition to KNDO Battalion 7, Company 3.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

After verifying and questioning him, the KNDO announced that he would be transferred to the relevant department in accordance with humanitarian principles and regulations.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

It was further reported that while junta forces attempted an offensive into the area controlled by KNDO Battalion 7, Company 3, near Latha Village, KNDO troops intercepted and attacked them. During the clash, a junta vehicle was destroyed and some junta personnel were injured.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to an announcement from the Karen National Union (KNU) Mutraw District, two newly recruited junta soldiers defected with their weapons and ammunition into the area under the control of KNLA Brigade 5.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

On August 4, Maung Win Phyo Kyaw and Maung Soe Aung entered the territory controlled by KNLA Brigade 5, Battalion 102, carrying one MA-1 rifle, one MA-3 rifle, and 340 rounds of ammunition.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

On August 19, the KNU Mutraw District and Brigade 5 officials held a reception ceremony to welcome the defectors and awarded them 1 million kyat each in recognition.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
