At least 10 civilians, including children, killed in airstrike by junta in Naung Pain Village, Kyaukme Township<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At around&nbsp;<strong>9:30 a.m. on August 20<\/strong>, the Myanmar military council carried out an&nbsp;<strong>airstrike using a jet fighter<\/strong>, dropping bombs twice near a pagoda in&nbsp;<strong>Naung Pain Village, Kyaukme Township, Shan State<\/strong>, and continued firing with heavy weapons, according to an SSPP\/SSA statement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The attack reportedly caused bombs to explode in the&nbsp;<strong>village fields and near a monastery<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The&nbsp;<strong>Shan State Progress Party\/Shan State Army (SSPP\/SSA)<\/strong>&nbsp;stated that as a result of the airstrike,&nbsp;<strong>at least 10 local civilians, including children, were killed, and 12 others were injured<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Currently, residents of&nbsp;<strong>Naung Pain and nearby villages<\/strong>&nbsp;\u2014 including&nbsp;<strong>Zi Pin, Pin Pauk, Pin Tain, Pin Tee, Kyaung Kone, Phi Thit, Khe Nin, and Lwe Kon<\/strong>&nbsp;\u2014 are fleeing and taking refuge due to the junta\u2019s continuous drone and heavy artillery attacks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">========================<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\ud83d\udea9\ud83d\udea9&nbsp;<strong>2. Roads in Kanpetlet Township temporarily closed, CDF-Kanpetlet announces<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The&nbsp;<strong>Chinland Defense Force \u2013 Kanpetlet (CDF-Kanpetlet)<\/strong>&nbsp;has announced the&nbsp;<strong>temporary closure<\/strong>&nbsp;of several roads, including the&nbsp;<strong>Swel Lwek Kyin\u2013Kyindwe road, Saw\u2013Kanpetlet road<\/strong>, as well as&nbsp;<strong>routes entering Kanpetlet Township from Magway Region<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On&nbsp;<strong>August 16<\/strong>, the junta\u2019s election commission announced that it would hold elections even in&nbsp;<strong>63 townships controlled by NUG and ethnic revolutionary forces, including the Chin Brotherhood (CB)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Following this, reports emerged that about&nbsp;<strong>800 junta troops from Infantry Battalion 25 in Laung Shay, 400 reinforcements from Seikphyu, and a military convoy from Pakokku Township\u2019s Infantry Battalion 101 (with two tanks and 136 military vehicles)<\/strong>&nbsp;were advancing toward&nbsp;<strong>Mindat, Matupi, and Kanpetlet townships<\/strong>&nbsp;in Chin State.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As a result, CDF-Kanpetlet stated that all routes&nbsp;<strong>into and within Kanpetlet Township will remain closed until further notice<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">They further warned that since the junta forces could launch an offensive at any time, civilians should&nbsp;<strong>remain vigilant, prepare in advance, dig bomb shelters and trenches<\/strong>, and take precautions against potential airstrikes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">========================<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\ud83d\udea9\ud83d\udea9&nbsp;<strong>3. Junta armored vehicle destroyed by KIA in Bhamo Town<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In&nbsp;<strong>Bhamo, Kachin State<\/strong>, during a clash on the afternoon of&nbsp;<strong>August 20<\/strong>, a&nbsp;<strong>military junta armored vehicle was destroyed by the Kachin Independence Army (KIA) joint forces<\/strong>, according to Kachin military sources.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It was also reported that junta troops were continuing to fire inside Bhamo town using&nbsp;<strong>two armored vehicles<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Since early August, the junta has been transporting weapons and ammunition into Bhamo by&nbsp;<strong>military vessels<\/strong>, distributing them to remaining outposts under the&nbsp;<strong>No. 21 Military Operation Command Headquarters (MOC-21)<\/strong>, which has resulted in more than two weeks of continuous clashes with the KIA.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Colonel Naw Buu, KIA spokesperson, told&nbsp;<strong>People\u2019s Spring<\/strong>&nbsp;on the afternoon of&nbsp;<strong>August 20<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cCurrently, we do not hold any captured bases inside Bhamo, nor have we abandoned any of our own bases. The photos being circulated online are old or fake.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It was earlier reported that beginning on&nbsp;<strong>August 13<\/strong>, junta forces launched a major offensive with full strength near the&nbsp;<strong>Myitsone Hotel area in Bhamo<\/strong>, but KIA joint forces resisted fiercely. This resulted in&nbsp;<strong>four consecutive days of fighting<\/strong>, where&nbsp;<strong>over 60 junta soldiers were killed<\/strong>, and some junta units had to&nbsp;<strong>withdraw from parts of the town<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">========================<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\ud83d\udea9\ud83d\udea9&nbsp;<strong>4. Thaw Tha Village (Pyuu) base captured along with weapons, ammunition, cash, three junta corpses, and 190 family members of Pyuu leaders including Chief Ae Pan detained<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On&nbsp;<strong>August 15<\/strong>, joint forces of&nbsp;<strong>Mawlaik District Battalions (2 and 4)<\/strong>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<strong>Fawngpyin Township People\u2019s Defense Forces (PDFs)<\/strong>&nbsp;successfully attacked and seized the&nbsp;<strong>Thaw Tha Village (Pyuu Saw Htee) base<\/strong>&nbsp;in&nbsp;<strong>Mawlaik Township, Mawlaik District, Sagaing Region<\/strong>, where Pyuu militia members led by Chief Ae Pan were stationed. Mawlaik Township PDF also provided support during the operation, according to an official statement from&nbsp;<strong>Military Region No. (1)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">During the capture of the Thaw Tha base, about&nbsp;<strong>130 junta troops<\/strong>&nbsp;who had moved down the Chindwin River by fleet, along with around&nbsp;<strong>50 troops from Taung In Village<\/strong>, attempted to reinforce by launching a counterattack against&nbsp;<strong>Inn Ta Paung Village<\/strong>. Despite this, the allied resistance forces successfully captured the Thaw Tha base.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In the battle, resistance forces seized&nbsp;<strong>23 weapons including 60mm mortars and RPGs, some ammunition, and over 150 million kyats in cash<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In addition,&nbsp;<strong>three junta corpses were recovered, nine others were injured<\/strong>, and&nbsp;<strong>190 family members of Pyuu leaders, including Chief Ae Pan, were captured<\/strong>. It was further reported that around&nbsp;<strong>20 Pyuu Saw Htee members managed to flee<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">During the fighting, a&nbsp;<strong>Yak-130 jet fighter<\/strong>&nbsp;from&nbsp;<strong>Tada-U Air Base<\/strong>&nbsp;carried out an airstrike by dropping&nbsp;<strong>two bombs<\/strong>, while junta naval vessels also launched drone bomb attacks, according to the statement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">========================<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\ud83d\udea9\ud83d\udea9&nbsp;<strong>5. Junta\u2019s No. 13 Military Officers\u2019 Advanced Training School attacked with short-range rockets<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On&nbsp;<strong>August 20, at around 12 noon<\/strong>, the&nbsp;<strong>No. 13 Military Officers\u2019 Advanced Training School<\/strong>&nbsp;located at&nbsp;<strong>mile 7 in Thabeikkyin Township, Mandalay Region<\/strong>, was attacked with&nbsp;<strong>107mm short-range rockets<\/strong>, according to&nbsp;<strong>Brave Warriors for Myanmar (BWM)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It was reported that&nbsp;<strong>10 rockets<\/strong>&nbsp;were fired into the compound of&nbsp;<strong>No. 13 Training School<\/strong>, of which&nbsp;<strong>9 successfully hit the target<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The attack was jointly carried out by&nbsp;<strong>Brave Warriors for Myanmar (BWM)<\/strong>,&nbsp;<strong>No More Dictatorship (NMD-PDF)<\/strong>, and&nbsp;<strong>Infinity (Anyar) group<\/strong>, with additional support from&nbsp;<strong>Mandalay Region artillery units<\/strong>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<strong>local resistance forces<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The&nbsp;<strong>No. 13 Training School<\/strong>&nbsp;is not only a critical military training facility in&nbsp;<strong>Mandalay Region Military Headquarters territory<\/strong>, where junta officers train battalions, companies, and platoons to conduct operations, but also serves as a&nbsp;<strong>junta garrison base<\/strong>&nbsp;from which attacks are launched on&nbsp;<strong>Thabeikkyin and Mogok<\/strong>. This was cited as the reason for the attack.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">========================<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\ud83d\udea9\ud83d\udea9&nbsp;<strong>6. 409 individuals, including two majors, defected to the people within seven months \u2014 Irrawaddy Regional Command and Strategic Operations Command (29) hold graduation ceremony<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The&nbsp;<strong>National Unity Government (NUG) Ministry of Defense<\/strong>&nbsp;announced that between&nbsp;<strong>January 1 and July 31, 2025<\/strong>, a total of&nbsp;<strong>409 individuals<\/strong>, including&nbsp;<strong>two majors<\/strong>, defected from the junta side to join the people under the&nbsp;<strong>People\u2019s Embrace Program<\/strong>, coordinated by the&nbsp;<strong>Central Committee for People\u2019s Embrace Implementation<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Among the 409 defectors,&nbsp;<strong>179 brought weapons with them<\/strong>. These defectors were honored and given rewards based on the value of the weapons they surrendered, in line with NUG Ministry of Defense policy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The 409 defectors included members of the&nbsp;<strong>military, police, junta\u2019s conscripted service, and SNA forces<\/strong>.
