KNA urges resistance against the junta’s planned election through all possible means

The Kayin National Army (KNA) has called on the public to resist and confront the so-called election planned by the terrorist military junta through combined political, military, and public mobilization efforts.

It stated that elections and democracy are inseparably linked, and therefore, without democracy, no election can be legitimately held. Only a people’s government formed by representatives freely elected by the people has the right to organize an election.

According to the KNA, the upcoming election orchestrated by the junta—which has repeatedly committed war crimes, relies on weapons to suppress the population, and continues daily killings nationwide—is nothing more than an attempt to prolong dictatorship.

The KNA further declared that it rejects, both in principle and in practice, all actions staged by the terrorist junta without the people’s will.

Therefore, it appealed in earnest to the people, as well as to all revolutionary forces engaged in the struggle, to actively oppose the junta’s planned election through political, military, and public mobilization in every possible form.

========================

📌📌 2. Battalion (3) of Myeik District warns of harsh action against supporters or collaborators of the sham election

Myeik District Battalion (3) has announced that it will take effective and severe measures against anyone who supports, collaborates with, or mobilizes participation in the sham election unlawfully conducted by the military junta as an exit strategy.

It stated that the junta, militarily weakened and on the verge of defeat, resorted to enforcing conscription laws and forcibly sending civilians to the battlefield, which temporarily bolstered the strength of the dictatorship and slightly hindered the revolution.

At present, the junta is pursuing the sham election illegally in order to conceal its cruel and inhumane actions and to fabricate a façade of legitimacy. Battalion (3) declared that it would act forcefully to prevent such schemes from succeeding.

Furthermore, it warned that anyone who supports, collaborates with, or organizes mobilization for the junta’s sham election will face effective and severe retaliation.

========================

📌📌 3. Over 50 million kyats needed for elephant conservation in NUG- and allied-controlled areas, with only 37.6% of funds secured so far

Dr. Tu Khawng, Union Minister of Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation under the National Unity Government (NUG), announced that over 54,618,500 kyats are required to sustain the care of elephants in areas administered by the NUG and allied organizations.

The ministry calculated that the annual basic requirement for food supplements (salt, tamarind, and medicine) per elephant is 174,500 kyats. With a total of 313 elephants in these areas, the funding requirement stands at 54,618,500 kyats.

So far, the “Momo’s Journey Home” campaign has raised 20,529,513 kyats, which covers about 37.6% of the necessary funds. Public contributions have played a key role in supporting elephant conservation efforts.

Essential medicines for elephants are currently being distributed twice a year. Due to the funding shortfall, priority is being given to Civil Disobedience Movement (CDM) elephant camps, camps with special healthcare or emergency needs, and camps unable to receive township-level administrative support.

In addition to the campaign, the ministry has also received some direct donations. Allocation of funds is being carried out based on the availability of funds, the condition and security of the elephant camps, and decisions made by the Ministry and its Management Committee.

As part of the first phase of support from the “Momo’s Journey Home” campaign, 3,052,500 kyats were provided to supply six months of supplementary food for 37 elephants.

========================

📌📌 4.
