The KIO’s position was that if there was a genuine intention to hold talks, rather than an online discussion, the KIO could send a delegation to meet in Myitkyina. However, no reply was received from the KIO’s response.

A few months ago, the same question was raised again through the PCG, to which the KIO replied that its position remained unchanged,” Lt-Gen Gun Maw explained in response to BBC’s inquiry.

He further stated that while the KIO did not make any public announcements about its peace stance, it had informed Chinese, Japanese, and other international diplomats.

Lt-Gen Gun Maw added that the KIO has been consistently holding meetings with various ethnic revolutionary organizations. He noted that the KIO recently held its first face-to-face meeting with the Chin Brotherhood (CB). He explained that meetings with Chin ethnic organizations such as CB and CNF constituted not only Kachin–Chin fraternal exchanges but also interactions among revolutionary forces themselves.

On this matter, NUG Minister of Foreign Affairs Daw Zin Mar Aung commented:
“In recent days, there has been a wave of distorted information aimed at tarnishing our image. I think it is time for such things to stop for a while. Even if they do, we must remain alert because they will return in new forms. It is crucial not to get trapped in the enemy’s plots and narratives. We must stay highly vigilant and keep working steadfastly along our own path—persisting with all available methods in our core revolutionary mission to overthrow the military dictatorship.”

========================

📌📌 2.
