While travelling from the KIO’s Foreign Relations Office in Bangkok, Thailand, to a KIA military base in Chiang Mai district, they were assassinated halfway by a group of unscrupulous agents of the dictatorship, sacrificing their lives.

The message stated that this event represented an immense loss for the entire Kachin people and remains a deeply tragic and unforgettable incident. Therefore, August 10 was designated and commemorated as Kachin Martyrs’ Day, which now marks its 50th anniversary.

It acknowledged that despite the death of these leaders and the heavy losses suffered, the KIO/KIA—the vanguard of the Kachin revolution—continued their mission with unity and discipline, demonstrating the strong solidarity of the Kachin people and the far-sighted leadership of their leaders.

The NUG also reaffirmed its firm belief that in the current Spring Revolution, Kachin national leaders and revolutionary forces will continue working closely and in solidarity with the NUG and the people across Myanmar to achieve shared revolutionary goals—uprooting military dictatorship, ensuring equality for all nationalities, and building a federal democratic union with full self-determination.

Finally, the message paid solemn tribute to all Kachin national leaders, martyrs, the Kachin public, and all Kachin revolutionary comrades who have sacrificed their lives, limbs, and well-being—from the struggle for Myanmar’s independence to the current efforts to establish a new federal democratic union—on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of Kachin Martyrs’ Day.

========================

📌📌 2.
