The group condemned the junta’s planned election as a political manipulation by an illegitimate and unjust military, and urged resistance against every such effort.

The statement noted that Min Aung Hlaing has restructured the State Administration Council (SAC) into a new National Defence and Security Commission, with himself serving as Chairperson, Acting President, Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services, and Senior General, thereby retaining his grip on all major posts.

The KNPP stressed that this new commission, intended to prolong military rule, must also be uprooted and dismantled.

Since 1948, the KNPP said, the Karenni people have resisted successive military regimes that seized power and destroyed the country for decades. The party pledged to work toward the complete eradication of the military dictatorship and to strengthen the Karenni state and federal union based on the will and participation of the Karenni people.

The KNPP affirmed it would continue to move forward—together with other revolutionary forces—from strengthening the Karenni state-level federal unit to the union level, through both wartime and transitional periods, until the final goal is reached: the establishment of a future Federal Democratic Union.

========================

🚩🚩 2. 32 Airstrikes in Karenni State This Year Killed 33 Civilians, Says Interim Executive Council

August 9

The Karenni State Interim Executive Council (IEC) reported that in the current year alone, the terrorist military has carried out 32 airstrikes in Karenni State, killing 33 civilians and injuring 98 others.

The figures were released in the IEC’s message marking the 77th Karenni National Resistance Day.

The council accused the military of committing human rights violations and war crimes daily—both in Karenni State and across the country. When reinforcements arrived from Tanintharyi town shortly after 1 p.m., they were also attacked. Later, at around 5 p.m., retreating junta troops from Thitpin Chaung were hit with landmines, sparking heavy firefights between the two sides.

The PDO reported that over 20 junta soldiers were injured in these clashes, but the exact number of fatalities could not yet be confirmed. One civilian was killed by junta gunfire during the fighting.

On August 4 at around 9 a.m., the PDO and allied groups attacked the military checkpoint at the entrance to Tanintharyi town, killing two soldiers and injuring four.

Later the same day, at around 11 a.m., seven military vehicles carrying reinforcements and security troops from Myeik toward Tanintharyi were ambushed near Yamfo and Kamto villages. The PDO detonated landmines and opened fire with small arms, engaging in a 20-minute firefight with the escort troops.
