Soldier Who Defected to AA Reveals Tatmadaw Fired Weapons Tied with Monk Robes and Religious Scriptures<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>August 6<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A soldier who defected to the&nbsp;<strong>Arakan Army (AA)<\/strong>&nbsp;revealed that&nbsp;<strong>Myanmar military troops were firing weapons wrapped in monk robes and adorned with Buddhist scriptures<\/strong>, according to a statement released by the AA on August 5, citing the defector\u2019s testimony from July 27.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The defector,&nbsp;<strong>Nay Thu Ya Myo<\/strong>, stated that&nbsp;<strong>Tatmadaw troops<\/strong>&nbsp;were attaching Buddhist texts and tying&nbsp;<strong>pieces of monk robes (htamisar)<\/strong>&nbsp;onto firearms and munitions before firing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He added that higher-ranking officers were spreading propaganda that&nbsp;<strong>AA fighters attack using underhanded tactics<\/strong>&nbsp;and that captured soldiers are fed human flesh from fallen comrades before being sent back to fight, as part of a psychological campaign within the military ranks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Nay Thu Ya Myo explained that&nbsp;<strong>soldiers were instructed to tie monk robe fragments around grenades and artillery shells<\/strong>&nbsp;as well, and that it was a common practice for weapons under their control to bear such religious or symbolic attachments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He served under&nbsp;<strong>Light Infantry Battalion 15<\/strong>, subordinate to&nbsp;<strong>Division 99<\/strong>, and was a newly inducted soldier from&nbsp;<strong>Training Batch No. 10<\/strong>, who defected from the battlefield in&nbsp;<strong>Patan<\/strong>&nbsp;and joined the AA.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He further shared that the Tatmadaw propagates false claims that&nbsp;<strong>AA kills defectors<\/strong>\u2014alleging that AA interrogates them and then forces them to dig their own graves before&nbsp;<strong>beating them to death with bamboo poles<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Nay Thu Ya Myo said that he personally witnessed a stark difference between the military\u2019s internal propaganda and what actually happens, encouraging other soldiers still in the military to&nbsp;<strong>reach out and defect to the Arakan Army<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>========================<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\ud83d\udea9\ud83d\udea9&nbsp;<strong>2. Four Junta Soldiers Killed, At Least Five Injured in Attack on Military Column Reinforcing Nat Ein Camp in Yephyu<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>August 6<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In&nbsp;<strong>Yephyu Township<\/strong>,&nbsp;<strong>Tanintharyi Region<\/strong>, the&nbsp;<strong>Mon State Revolutionary Force (MSRF)<\/strong>&nbsp;reported on August 6 that&nbsp;<strong>four junta soldiers were killed and at least five others injured<\/strong>&nbsp;when revolutionary joint forces ambushed a military column of around 60 soldiers headed to reinforce the&nbsp;<strong>Nat Ein hilltop camp<\/strong>&nbsp;located east of&nbsp;<strong>Kalein Aung Town<\/strong>, near the&nbsp;<strong>Thai-Myanmar border<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The clash occurred on&nbsp;<strong>August 4<\/strong>&nbsp;near&nbsp;<strong>Kaw Hline village<\/strong>, where revolutionary coalition forces launched a coordinated attack on the advancing junta troops. The column reportedly sustained significant damage and was forced to retreat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The firefight lasted approximately&nbsp;<strong>45 minutes<\/strong>, from&nbsp;<strong>1:15 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.<\/strong>, during which&nbsp;<strong>four junta soldiers were confirmed dead<\/strong>, and&nbsp;<strong>at least five more injured<\/strong>. Public Alert Issued Over Scam Donations in Shwebo Using Forged Letters Under the Name of the Township People&#8217;s Defense Team<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>August 6<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The&nbsp;<strong>Shwebo Township People&#8217;s Defense Team<\/strong>&nbsp;has issued a public warning that&nbsp;<strong>fraudulent individuals<\/strong>&nbsp;are using the name of the defense team to solicit&nbsp;<strong>fake donations<\/strong>&nbsp;from&nbsp;<strong>local business owners in Shwebo town<\/strong>, using&nbsp;<strong>forged official letters<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On&nbsp;<strong>August 6<\/strong>, the Shwebo Township People&#8217;s Defense Team released an official statement informing the public that:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe have received information that certain individuals are misusing the name of the Shwebo Township People&#8217;s Defense Team to solicit donations from local business owners in Shwebo town. They are using forged documents to&nbsp;<strong>falsely request donations, demand money, and even send threatening letters to extort funds<\/strong>. These fraudulent letters often include the name \u2018People&#8217;s Defense Force (PDF)\u2019 and bear the&nbsp;<strong>logo of an actual military battalion<\/strong>, in an attempt to deceive and mislead the public.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The statement firmly emphasized that the Shwebo Township People&#8217;s Defense Team&nbsp;<strong>has never issued letters to request donations<\/strong>&nbsp;of any kind from any individual or business owner.
