August 4<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

A monk from Natsitlin Monastery<\/strong>, located in Ward 2 of Kyaukme Town<\/strong>, 2nd Military Region, Ta\u2019ang State, was severely injured after stepping on a landmine while clearing the monastery grounds, according to a statement from the TNLA<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The incident occurred at 2:30 PM on August 2<\/strong>, when U Nanda<\/strong>, the monk, accidentally stepped on the landmine within the monastery compound. The explosion resulted in the amputation of his right leg<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He was transported by a charitable organization to Lashio Hospital<\/strong> for medical treatment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Previously, on July 15<\/strong>, Daw Aye Win<\/strong> of Huson Village<\/strong>, Mongngaw Township, also stepped on a landmine near a tamarind tree while on her way to a tea plantation. She died in the explosion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Tanintharyi People\u2019s Defense Force (TDPF)<\/strong> has issued a travel advisory on August 3<\/strong>, warning the public to exercise caution while traveling on the Myeik\u2013Palaw Union Highway (Route 8)<\/strong> and the Myeik\u2013Bokpyin Highway<\/strong>, as attacks on areas occupied by the junta could occur at any time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to TDPF, junta forces have been operating military convoys within Palaw<\/strong> and Tanintharyi townships<\/strong>, which fall under Military Zone 35 of the resistance command structure. This has resulted in ongoing clashes with local People\u2019s Defense Forces (PDFs)<\/strong> operating in those areas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In Palaw Township<\/strong>, junta artillery fire killed 10 displaced civilians<\/strong> who were taking refuge in a previously safe area. In Tanintharyi Township<\/strong>, 10 civilians<\/strong> from villages located in junta-occupied zones were reportedly arrested and forcibly conscripted<\/strong> into military service.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As such, the TDPF has declared that it will launch attacks on junta-occupied positions at any time<\/strong>. Civilians, including travelers and local villagers, are urged to avoid living near or passing through areas where junta forces are stationed<\/strong>\u2014especially along or near the Myeik\u2013Palaw and Myeik\u2013Bokpyin highways\u2014and are strongly advised to relocate preemptively for their safety<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In Ayadaw Township<\/strong>, Sagaing Region, a total of 300 informational pamphlets<\/strong> on how to construct bomb shelters and how to protect against airstrike hazards were distributed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This initiative was jointly organized by the Ayadaw Township Students\u2019 Union \u2013 ABFSU<\/strong> and a local armed revolutionary group<\/strong>. It included an awareness campaign and political discussion<\/strong> held in the township.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On August 3<\/strong>, educational videos on airstrike, landmine, and heavy artillery safety<\/strong> were shown to students and civilians, along with discussions of protective strategies<\/strong> and basic political education sessions<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Thaton Township People\u2019s Defense Force (TPDF)<\/strong> has called for widespread participation in the campaign titled \u201cLet\u2019s Fight Together for a Drone Rain: 1000 Bombs.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIn order to eliminate the military dictatorship at its roots, we are urging everyone to join forces in this drone warfare campaign, contributing to the ‘Let\u2019s Fight Together for a Drone Rain: 1000 Bombs’ initiative,\u201d reads the campaign announcement released in August.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The funds raised will be used to manufacture 2-kg aerial drop bombs<\/strong>, with each bomb costing 30,000 MMK<\/strong> or 300 Thai Baht<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The campaign will run from August 3 to September 3<\/strong>, and those interested in contributing can find further details on the Thaton TPDF Facebook Page<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Revolutionary forces have conducted anti-drug and road checkpoint operations<\/strong> near the Myothapaik Reservoir<\/strong>, located along the Aung Ban \u2013 Ywangan \u2013 Mandalay highway<\/strong>, which lies within junta-controlled territory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThis was part of a security operation carried out on August 3 by PDF Battalion 1003<\/strong>, based in the Danu Region,\u201d stated the People\u2019s Defense Force Battalion 1003<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The operation included preventive searches and direct engagement with civilians in the area, with careful attention to avoid causing harm or distress to local people<\/strong>, according to the battalion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\ud83d\udea9\ud83d\udea9 6. 26 captured junta soldiers from Taung Su and Taw Wi battles being held or returned home, KNU says<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

August 4<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Karen National Union (KNU)<\/strong> announced on August 4 that 26 junta soldiers<\/strong> captured during the Taung Su<\/strong> and Taw Wi<\/strong> battles are currently being held in custody. Those who wish to return home have been safely repatriated, while those unable to return for security reasons or who refuse to return have been offered job opportunities and are being humanely held.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The clashes occurred in Taung Su village<\/strong>, Moo Township, within the Kler Lwee Htoo District<\/strong> of the KNU-administered region<\/strong>, where the Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA)<\/strong> and allied forces launched a coordinated attack on junta columns that had established temporary positions on June 25, 2025<\/strong>. The assault resulted in the capture of 23 junta soldiers<\/strong> and a significant cache of weapons and ammunition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Simultaneously, in a battle that took place in Taw Wi village<\/strong>, under Leiktho Township administration<\/strong>, 3 more junta soldiers<\/strong> were captured along with additional weapons and ammunition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 26 captured soldiers<\/strong> from both battles are being held at Battalion 9<\/strong>, in accordance with military law. Those wishing to return to their families have been transported home, while others\u2014either unwilling or unable to return\u2014are being provided with employment and held under humane conditions<\/strong>, the KNU stated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the KNU, most of the captured soldiers were victims of forced conscription<\/strong>. Some were regular troops who had completed their service terms but refused to continue fighting<\/strong> under the junta.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
