Bomb Attack on Election Office in South Dagon<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>August 3<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On August 2 at 10:15 p.m., the People&#8217;s Defense Forces from Yangon\u2019s Western District launched a targeted attack using three high-powered hand grenades against the election commission office in&nbsp;<strong>South Dagon Township<\/strong>, Yangon, according to a statement released today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The targeted office was being used by the junta\u2019s subordinate election commission (UEC) to organize operations related to the regime\u2019s planned election. The attack was carried out specifically because junta forces were actively engaged in election-related activities at that location, according to the Yangon Army and the Western District People&#8217;s Defense Force (PaKaPha).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The attackers successfully struck their intended target and safely retreated without sustaining harm. It is believed that junta personnel may have suffered casualties or damage as a result of the assault.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Both the Yangon urban guerrilla units and the Western District PaKaPha declared that they will continue to launch decisive attacks against all targets linked to the junta\u2019s forces and any operations associated with the military\u2019s illegitimate election.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>========================<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\ud83d\udea9\ud83d\udea9&nbsp;<strong>2. Thayenni District Police Begin School Premises Inspection and Repair Operations<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>August 3<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In accordance with administrative guidelines set by the Administrative Committee of the Union of Myanmar Special Region-1, the&nbsp;<strong>Thayenni District Police Force<\/strong>&nbsp;launched an inspection and maintenance operation at schools under its jurisdiction on&nbsp;<strong>August 1<\/strong>, according to&nbsp;<em>The Kokang<\/em>&nbsp;news outlet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The initiative aims to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Ensure the safety of students,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Maintain order within school grounds, and<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Improve the overall learning environment.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The operation was led by the district\u2019s Deputy Police Chief and included participation from urban police, traffic enforcement officers, and fire services. Officials from the township\u2019s Department of Education in&nbsp;<strong>Mone Bwa Township<\/strong>&nbsp;also joined the operation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Schools inspected included&nbsp;<strong>Pan Hpar School, Nant Tong School, Mile Post 14 School, and Nan Hoo School<\/strong>, all of which are Myanmar curriculum schools.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The inspection teams also examined small shops around school compounds to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Check food hygiene and safety,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ensure fuel vendors relocate away from schools and public buildings,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Enforce bans on the sale of psychologically or physically harmful materials (e.g., videos, books),<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Prevent the sale of restricted items like cigarettes and alcohol to minors.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Authorities found that some schools had deteriorated to hazardous conditions, including leaky roofs, falling ceiling tiles, and water shortages due to long-standing lack of maintenance.
