A military unit deployed by the junta to secure a convoy along the Monywa\u2013Mandalay Road<\/strong>, in Chaung-U Township<\/strong>, Monywa District<\/strong>, was hit by a landmine attack, resulting in the deaths of two junta soldiers, according to a statement from People\u2019s Defence Force \u2013 South Monywa<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The attack occurred at 3:16 PM on August 1<\/strong>, between Nat Yay Kan<\/strong> and Yay Poe Sar<\/strong>, targeting approximately 70 junta troops<\/strong> assigned to provide security. The resistance forces used three directional \u201cPadetha\u201d mines<\/strong> in the ambush.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As a result of the explosion, two junta troops were killed on the spot<\/strong>, and many others were reportedly injured<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Following the attack, the junta troops opened fire indiscriminately<\/strong> with heavy and small arms, but members of the joint resistance operation\u2014comprising South Monywa District Military Headquarters<\/strong>, Strategic Unit 64<\/strong>, and District Battalion 11 of the People\u2019s Defence Force \u2013 South Monywa<\/strong>\u2014were able to retreat unharmed<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\ud83d\udea9\ud83d\udea9 2. Junta Column Loots Public Property in Kyauk-O Village, Ambushed During Withdrawal \u2014 Over 10 Casualties<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

A junta column that looted public property<\/strong> from Kyauk-O village<\/strong>, in Nyaung-U Township<\/strong>, Mandalay Region<\/strong>, was ambushed by resistance forces while withdrawing, resulting in at least 10 junta casualties<\/strong>, according to a statement from Black Eagle PDF \u2013 Bagan<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On July 31<\/strong>, a junta force\u2014over 100 troops strong<\/strong>, including armored vehicles\u2014arrived in Kyauk-O village after departing Gantgaw village<\/strong>. They temporarily set up camp in Kyauk-O and reportedly looted items from civilians\u2019 homes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As the column departed Kyauk-O<\/strong> on August 1<\/strong>, Black Eagle PDF \u2013 Bagan<\/strong> carried out a prepared ambush<\/strong>, intercepting the junta force.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the attack, more than 10 junta troops, including a deputy column commander<\/strong>, were killed or injured. Despite the junta responding with heavy and small arms fire<\/strong>, the resistance forces were able to withdraw safely without casualties<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\ud83d\udea9\ud83d\udea9 3. Pyusawhti Member Shot Dead While Attempting to Escape Custody in Ywangan Township<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

On August 1<\/strong>, in Myin Kya Doe village<\/strong>, Ywangan Township<\/strong>, Southern Shan State<\/strong>, a member of the pro-junta Pyusawhti militia<\/strong>, identified as Kyaw Mae<\/strong>, was captured by the local People\u2019s Defence Force (PDF)<\/strong> in Ywangan. However, he was fatally shot while attempting to resist and escape<\/strong> custody during a transfer for interrogation, according to an official statement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kyaw Mae was reported to be an aide to Win Myint<\/strong>, the Pyusawhti leader of Myin Kya Doe village. He was accused of participating in numerous crimes in southern Ywangan, including murders, arson attacks on homes, extortion at checkpoints, forced military conscription, and coercive fundraising from locals<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Although no weapons or ammunition were seized during his arrest, resistance forces reported that valuable intelligence<\/strong> concerning Pyusawhti operations was obtained.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It was also revealed that on the night of July 28<\/strong>, PDF forces attempted to arrest both Kyaw Mae and his son<\/strong>. Only Kyaw Mae was successfully apprehended, while his son escaped, reportedly still in possession of a firearm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kyaw Mae was a former military serviceman<\/strong> and was also allegedly involved in gambling and drug trafficking operations<\/strong> run by Win Myint.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\ud83d\udea9\ud83d\udea9 4. Junta\u2019s Airstrikes, Artillery, and Drone Attacks in Ta\u2019ang Regions Kill 27 Civilians, Including Children, in July<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to a statement by the PSLF\/TNLA<\/strong>, 27 civilians including children<\/strong> were killed across multiple townships in northern Shan State<\/strong>\u2014Kyaukme<\/strong>, Mogok<\/strong>, Naung Cho<\/strong>, Mongngawt<\/strong>, Hsipaw<\/strong>, Monglon<\/strong>, and Kutkai<\/strong>\u2014which are under the control of the PSLF\/TNLA, due to junta airstrikes, artillery shelling, and drone attacks throughout July<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the month, the junta carried out multiple attacks using fighter jets<\/strong>, heavy artillery<\/strong>, and drones<\/strong>, which damaged 116 civilian homes<\/strong>, two schools<\/strong>, and two monasteries<\/strong>, while also injuring 82 people<\/strong> in addition to the 27 fatalities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In Kyaukme Township<\/strong>, a monk was killed<\/strong> by a junta jet fighter bombing, along with three men<\/strong>, and 22 civilians<\/strong> were injured. A total of 45 homes<\/strong>, one monastery<\/strong>, and one school<\/strong> were also damaged.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In Naung Cho Township<\/strong>, artillery shelling, drone strikes, and jet bombing resulted in the deaths of four men<\/strong>, injuries to six civilians<\/strong>, and destruction of 17 houses<\/strong> and a monastery<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In Mogok<\/strong>, although no active clashes were reported, the junta bombed civilian areas, killing two children<\/strong>, six men<\/strong>, and one woman<\/strong>. Additionally, 43 civilians<\/strong>, including four children<\/strong>, were injured, and 38 houses<\/strong> were destroyed by the blasts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Similarly, in Hsipaw<\/strong>, an airstrike killed two men<\/strong>, injured five civilians<\/strong>, and damaged 18 homes<\/strong> and a school<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In Monglon<\/strong>, an air raid killed one man<\/strong> and destroyed seven houses<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In Kutkai Township<\/strong>, one child<\/strong>, four men<\/strong>, and one woman<\/strong> were killed. Another seven civilians<\/strong> were wounded, and five homes<\/strong> were damaged.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At around 2:30 PM on August 2<\/strong>, a 42-year-old monk named U Nanda<\/strong> stepped on a landmine near Natsitlin Monastery<\/strong> in Ward 2 of Kyaukme<\/strong>, located in northern Shan State, resulting in the loss of one leg<\/strong>, according to Shwe Phi Myay News Agency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

U Nanda was transported to Lashio Hospital<\/strong> for medical treatment and is currently under care.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kyaukme is under the control of the PSLF\/TNLA<\/strong>. According to locals, junta troops previously stationed at Natsitlin Monastery<\/strong> may have planted the mine that injured the monk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On August 2<\/strong>, Karenni Nationalities Defence Force (KNDF) Battalion 9<\/strong> commemorated its 4th founding anniversary<\/strong>, according to an official statement from the unit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The event featured ceremonies such as the salute to the Karenni national flag<\/strong>, the KNDF flag<\/strong>, and tributes to fallen comrades<\/strong>, along with religious offerings<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Over the past four years of the revolution, 43 fighters from Battalion 9<\/strong> have fallen in battle, and 18 others have sustained major injuries<\/strong>, the group confirmed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Separately, KNDF Battalion 606 Headquarters<\/strong> marked its 1st anniversary<\/strong> with a morale-building graduation ceremony for a training course.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The August 1 celebration<\/strong> included a flag-raising<\/strong>, tribute to fallen martyrs<\/strong>, oaths of allegiance<\/strong>, and opening prayers<\/strong>. Speeches were delivered by KNDF strategic and departmental leaders<\/strong>, as well as the battalion and deputy commanders<\/strong>. The event also included a cake-cutting ceremony<\/strong>, musical performances by soldiers<\/strong>, and a communal feast<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the battle that occurred in Zee Phyu Kone Pyu village<\/strong>, Pale Township<\/strong>, Yinmarbin District<\/strong>, Sagaing Region<\/strong>, Deputy Battalion Commander U Kan<\/strong> (also known as Bo Sit Mhone<\/strong>) of Battalion 6, Yinmarbin District<\/strong> was killed, according to an official statement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The clash took place on July 30<\/strong>, during which a junta-fired heavy weapon<\/strong> struck the unit. Bo Sit Mhone<\/strong> and three other resistance fighters<\/strong> lost their lives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Despite the shelling, fellow resistance members were able to recover his body while under fire<\/strong> and evacuate it from the battlefield.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Some resistance members were also wounded and are currently receiving medical treatment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The funerals<\/strong> for the fallen were held on August 1<\/strong>. During the ceremony, the junta reportedly launched an airstrike<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The loss of Bo Sit Mhone<\/strong>, who led countless battles from the frontlines, was described as a major blow to the revolution<\/strong> and a sacrifice that the movement will never forget.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\ud83d\udea9\ud83d\udea9 8. Junta Corporal Defects to Resistance in Monywa with Weapon and Ammunition<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

A junta corporal stationed at a security outpost<\/strong> along the Monywa\u2013Mandalay Road<\/strong> in Monywa Township<\/strong>, Sagaing Region<\/strong>, defected to the resistance with his weapon, according to Urban Hunter Force (UHF)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On July 28<\/strong>, the corporal contacted UHF (People’s Defence Force)<\/strong> and surrendered.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He brought with him an MA-3 rifle<\/strong>, two magazines<\/strong>, and forty rounds of 5.56mm ammunition<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In recognition of his defection, he was awarded 400,000 Kyat<\/strong> in honorarium. UHF has called on other junta personnel to defect and seek safety and dignity among the people<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
