NUG\u2019s Ministry of Human Rights Details Fatal Airstrike on NUG Public Hospital by Military Junta, Killing 5 Civilians Including Children<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>August 1<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The National Unity Government (NUG) Ministry of Human Rights has released details of a deadly airstrike by the military junta targeting the NUG-run public hospital, resulting in the deaths of five civilians, including children.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On the night of&nbsp;<strong>July 29<\/strong>, between&nbsp;<strong>10:25 PM<\/strong>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<strong>10:33 PM<\/strong>, the junta launched two consecutive airstrikes on the&nbsp;<strong>Charging Hospital<\/strong>, a facility opened by the NUG Ministry of Health for civilians in&nbsp;<strong>eastern Kantbalu Township<\/strong>,&nbsp;<strong>Kantbalu District<\/strong>,&nbsp;<strong>Sagaing Region<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>One of the bombs directly struck the patient ward where internally displaced persons (IDPs) were receiving treatment. Among the victims were a&nbsp;<strong>four-year-old child<\/strong>, an&nbsp;<strong>elderly person<\/strong>, and&nbsp;<strong>two women<\/strong>\u2014bringing the total death toll to&nbsp;<strong>five civilians<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Additionally, multiple hospital staff and patients were seriously injured. Toxic gas released during the explosion caused symptoms such as&nbsp;<strong>dizziness<\/strong>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<strong>vomiting<\/strong>. Critical infrastructure inside the hospital\u2014such as&nbsp;<strong>surgical theaters<\/strong>,&nbsp;<strong>X-ray rooms<\/strong>, and essential medical equipment\u2014were heavily damaged. Three New Military Conscripts Flee Junta Army Camp and Are Detained<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>August 1<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Three newly recruited junta soldiers who fled from a military camp in&nbsp;<strong>Thabeikkyin Township<\/strong>,&nbsp;<strong>Mandalay Region<\/strong>, have been captured and detained, according to personnel from&nbsp;<strong>Shwebo District Battalion 15<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The escapees were conscripts from&nbsp;<strong>Military Battalion 148<\/strong>, which was stationed at a monastery in&nbsp;<strong>Wetlet Township<\/strong>. They fled during deployment and were later apprehended.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The three were identified as conscripts from&nbsp;<strong>batch 10<\/strong>, who had been&nbsp;<strong>drafted due to losing in the conscription lottery<\/strong>&nbsp;and had&nbsp;<strong>no weapons<\/strong>&nbsp;with them when they fled.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>An officer named&nbsp;<strong>Bo Kyauk Yo<\/strong>, commander of Battalion 15 in Shwebo District, stated:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;They seemed terrified. One of them brought his wife, whose name I forgot. They have two children and she is currently pregnant. We&#8217;ve treated them well and provided necessary medical assistance.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Since the third week of July, the junta has resumed military operations in&nbsp;<strong>Thabeikkyin Township<\/strong>, which is under resistance control, resulting in&nbsp;<strong>ongoing clashes<\/strong>. Resistance forces and the NUG have urged forcibly conscripted soldiers to&nbsp;<strong>contact revolutionary groups<\/strong>&nbsp;and seek immediate refuge with the people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>========================<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\ud83d\udea9\ud83d\udea9<strong>&nbsp;3. Revolutionary Forces Attack Military Convoy on Chindwin River: One Gunboat and Four Transport Boats Destroyed, Five Soldiers Killed<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>August 1<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Resistance forces under the command of&nbsp;<strong>Military Region 1<\/strong>&nbsp;attacked a military fleet navigating upstream along the&nbsp;<strong>Chindwin River<\/strong>, resulting in the&nbsp;<strong>destruction of one gunboat and four motorized boats<\/strong>, and the&nbsp;<strong>deaths of five junta soldiers<\/strong>, according to&nbsp;<strong>Mawlaik District Battalion 3<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The attacks took place on&nbsp;<strong>July 25, 26, and 28<\/strong>, targeting a fleet transporting&nbsp;<strong>weapons and supplies<\/strong>&nbsp;through&nbsp;<strong>Mawlaik Township<\/strong>. Ambushes occurred in&nbsp;<strong>two locations<\/strong>&nbsp;in&nbsp;<strong>Phaungpyin Township<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In total, one gunboat and four large motorboats were destroyed, with&nbsp;<strong>five junta soldiers killed<\/strong>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<strong>eight wounded<\/strong>, as confirmed by internal military and intelligence sources.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The junta responded using&nbsp;<strong>122 mm artillery<\/strong>,&nbsp;<strong>Point 5 and Point 8 machine guns<\/strong>, and additional heavy weaponry. Junta Troops Burn Down 39 Homes in Civilian Village in Dawei District\u2019s Daung Phar Kho Township<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>August 1<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to the&nbsp;<strong>Karen Human Rights Group (KHRG)<\/strong>, junta troops conducting operations in&nbsp;<strong>Waithu Village Tract<\/strong>,&nbsp;<strong>Daung Phar Kho Township<\/strong>,&nbsp;<strong>Dawei District<\/strong>,&nbsp;<strong>burned down 39 civilian homes<\/strong>&nbsp;on&nbsp;<strong>July 5, 2025<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The attack was carried out by a&nbsp;<strong>military column of over 150 soldiers<\/strong>&nbsp;that entered the area on&nbsp;<strong>July 4<\/strong>. A clash erupted on the morning of&nbsp;<strong>July 5<\/strong>&nbsp;between junta forces and local&nbsp;<strong>People\u2019s Defense Forces (PDFs)<\/strong>&nbsp;near one of the villages in Waithu.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Following the battle, at around&nbsp;<strong>10:00 AM<\/strong>, junta soldiers entered a nearby village and set&nbsp;<strong>39 houses ablaze<\/strong>. Some homes were completely destroyed in the fire.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Two&nbsp;<strong>motorcycles<\/strong>&nbsp;were also incinerated. According to a local resident, junta troops&nbsp;<strong>attempted to burn a total of 43 homes<\/strong>, but&nbsp;<strong>only four houses<\/strong>&nbsp;in the village escaped destruction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Currently, many villagers have fled into the nearby forest, where they are building&nbsp;<strong>makeshift shelters<\/strong>&nbsp;to survive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>========================<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\ud83d\udea9\ud83d\udea9<strong>&nbsp;5. Pyin Oo Lwin District People&#8217;s Defense Forces Urge Participation in \u201cA Round of Ammunition for the Offensive\u201d Campaign to Support Mandalay Frontline Units<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>August 1<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The People&#8217;s Defense Force (PDF) in&nbsp;<strong>Pyin Oo Lwin District<\/strong>, operating under the Mandalay Region Military Command, has called on the public to participate in the&nbsp;<strong>\u201cA Round of Ammunition for the Offensive \u2013 Support Mandalay Front\u201d<\/strong>&nbsp;fundraising campaign, aimed at providing critical defense supplies for frontline revolutionary forces.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The campaign encourages long-standing supporters and observers of the revolution to view PDF soldiers as their own and respond to their urgent needs for military gear. It calls on them to join in the struggle for victory by contributing through&nbsp;<strong>Forward Myanmar\u2019s \u201cRoad to Mandalay\u201d campaign<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This campaign seeks to raise&nbsp;<strong>USD 15,000<\/strong>&nbsp;by&nbsp;<strong>August 31<\/strong>, during which time contributions and shipments can be made to support Mandalay Region PDF units preparing for major operations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>========================<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\ud83d\udea9\ud83d\udea9<strong>&nbsp;6. Setottara Township PDF Warns of Severe Penalties for Collaborators and Mobilizers of Junta&#8217;s Sham Election<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>August 1<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The&nbsp;<strong>People\u2019s Defense Force in Setottara Township<\/strong>&nbsp;has issued a stern warning that those who participate in, support, or help organize the military junta\u2019s planned&nbsp;<strong>sham election<\/strong>\u2014which aims to prolong its authoritarian rule\u2014will face serious consequences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The statement, released on&nbsp;<strong>August 1<\/strong>, specifically warns local residents&nbsp;<strong>not to participate in or assist with the junta\u2019s fake electoral process<\/strong>, which the military is orchestrating to validate its illegal grip on power.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Setottara PDF emphasized that the&nbsp;<strong>military violently seized power<\/strong>&nbsp;on&nbsp;<strong>February 1, 2021<\/strong>, by arresting the country\u2019s elected leaders\u2014including the President and State Counsellor\u2014thus dismantling the democratically elected government and violating the will of the people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The junta cited alleged electoral fraud in the&nbsp;<strong>2020 general election<\/strong>&nbsp;as a pretext for arresting civilian government officials through unlawful means. Following the coup, widespread and peaceful protests were violently suppressed by the junta, with protesters being shot, arrested, and killed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As the people could no longer tolerate the junta\u2019s crimes, they took up arms in resistance. Now, over four years into the revolution,&nbsp;<strong>resistance forces and political analysts believe<\/strong>&nbsp;that the junta is&nbsp;<strong>militarily and politically failing<\/strong>, with&nbsp;<strong>no viable path forward<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To maintain its grip on power, the military regime is attempting to deceive both the domestic public and the international community by&nbsp;<strong>staging a pseudo-democratic election<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Setottara Township PDF therefore urges the public&nbsp;<strong>not to take part in, support, or mobilize for this sham election<\/strong>.
