Flooding in Tachileik and Southern Shan State Causes Casualties<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>July 28<\/strong><br><strong>Radio NUG<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to local reports, flooding has occurred in&nbsp;<strong>Tachileik<\/strong>, located in eastern Shan State, as a result of the rising water level of the&nbsp;<strong>Mae Sai Creek<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The creek began to overflow around&nbsp;<strong>11:00 p.m. on July 27<\/strong>, causing flooding in several wards of the city, including&nbsp;<strong>Pone Htun, San Saing, Tar Law, Lwel Taw Khan, and Mae Khaung<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Approximately&nbsp;<strong>1,000 residents<\/strong>&nbsp;have been relocated to safer areas to escape the floodwaters.&nbsp;<strong>Charitable organizations and the Fire Services Department<\/strong>&nbsp;have established&nbsp;<strong>two rescue camps<\/strong>&nbsp;and are using&nbsp;<strong>motorboats<\/strong>&nbsp;to evacuate affected residents to safety. Additionally, charity groups are reportedly providing&nbsp;<strong>meals and basic necessities<\/strong>&nbsp;to those in need.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On the morning of&nbsp;<strong>July 28<\/strong>, in&nbsp;<strong>San Saing Ward<\/strong>&nbsp;of Tachileik, a military vehicle from the junta was reportedly speeding along&nbsp;<strong>Bo Gyoke Road<\/strong>, creating large waves that entered roadside shops. This resulted in&nbsp;<strong>damage to goods and destruction of shop entrances<\/strong>, according to local sources.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Similarly, in&nbsp;<strong>Kalaw Township<\/strong>&nbsp;in&nbsp;<strong>southern Shan State<\/strong>, the rising water level of&nbsp;<strong>Kalaw Creek<\/strong>&nbsp;has led to flooding of homes in&nbsp;<strong>Wards 4 and 2<\/strong>, with water flowing rapidly into the lower parts of the town.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In&nbsp;<strong>Pinlaung Township<\/strong>, villages such as&nbsp;<strong>Kone Saung<\/strong>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<strong>Thein Kone<\/strong>&nbsp;have been affected by overflow from a mountain reservoir, submerging nearly&nbsp;<strong>70 homes<\/strong>.&nbsp;<strong>At least six people<\/strong>&nbsp;have reportedly lost their lives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Flooding and overflow incidents have also been reported in&nbsp;<strong>Namkham, Laukkai, Mong Pawk, Panhsang<\/strong>, and&nbsp;<strong>Yawnghwe (Nyaung Shwe)<\/strong>&nbsp;townships. Thailand and Cambodia Reach Ceasefire Agreement<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>July 28<\/strong><br><strong>Radio NUG<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Thailand and Cambodia have agreed to&nbsp;<strong>an immediate ceasefire<\/strong>&nbsp;to bring an end to the ongoing border conflict between the two nations. The agreement was reached during&nbsp;<strong>talks held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The discussions were hosted at the residence of&nbsp;<strong>Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim<\/strong>. Present at the meeting were&nbsp;<strong>Thai Acting Prime Minister Prawit Wongsuwan<\/strong>,&nbsp;<strong>Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet<\/strong>, and&nbsp;<strong>observers from the United States and China<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As the current&nbsp;<strong>Chair of ASEAN<\/strong>, Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim facilitated the negotiations. Two Men Arrested Along With Stolen Motorcycle in Launglon<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>July 28<\/strong><br><strong>Radio NUG<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to a statement released by the&nbsp;<strong>People\u2019s Security Team of Launglon Township<\/strong>&nbsp;in Tanintharyi Region,&nbsp;<strong>two male suspects<\/strong>&nbsp;were apprehended along with a&nbsp;<strong>stolen motorcycle<\/strong>&nbsp;in Launglon Township.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Following a report lodged on&nbsp;<strong>July 24<\/strong>&nbsp;by the motorcycle\u2019s owner, who had experienced the theft in a village within Launglon Township, a joint operation was launched involving members of the&nbsp;<strong>Launglon Township People\u2019s Defense Force (Pa La Pha), local village defense units<\/strong>, members of the&nbsp;<strong>Pa Ka Pha Zone 3<\/strong>, and&nbsp;<strong>village administrative authorities<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During the operation,&nbsp;<strong>two men were arrested in possession of the stolen motorcycle<\/strong>.
