According to local reports, flooding has occurred in Tachileik<\/strong>, located in eastern Shan State, as a result of the rising water level of the Mae Sai Creek<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The creek began to overflow around 11:00 p.m. on July 27<\/strong>, causing flooding in several wards of the city, including Pone Htun, San Saing, Tar Law, Lwel Taw Khan, and Mae Khaung<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Approximately 1,000 residents<\/strong> have been relocated to safer areas to escape the floodwaters. Charitable organizations and the Fire Services Department<\/strong> have established two rescue camps<\/strong> and are using motorboats<\/strong> to evacuate affected residents to safety. Additionally, charity groups are reportedly providing meals and basic necessities<\/strong> to those in need.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the morning of July 28<\/strong>, in San Saing Ward<\/strong> of Tachileik, a military vehicle from the junta was reportedly speeding along Bo Gyoke Road<\/strong>, creating large waves that entered roadside shops. This resulted in damage to goods and destruction of shop entrances<\/strong>, according to local sources.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Similarly, in Kalaw Township<\/strong> in southern Shan State<\/strong>, the rising water level of Kalaw Creek<\/strong> has led to flooding of homes in Wards 4 and 2<\/strong>, with water flowing rapidly into the lower parts of the town.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In Pinlaung Township<\/strong>, villages such as Kone Saung<\/strong> and Thein Kone<\/strong> have been affected by overflow from a mountain reservoir, submerging nearly 70 homes<\/strong>. At least six people<\/strong> have reportedly lost their lives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Flooding and overflow incidents have also been reported in Namkham, Laukkai, Mong Pawk, Panhsang<\/strong>, and Yawnghwe (Nyaung Shwe)<\/strong> townships. Damage to residential properties and an increase in fatalities have been observed across these areas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\ud83d\udccc\ud83d\udccc 2. Thailand and Cambodia Reach Ceasefire Agreement<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Thailand and Cambodia have agreed to an immediate ceasefire<\/strong> to bring an end to the ongoing border conflict between the two nations. The agreement was reached during talks held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The discussions were hosted at the residence of Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim<\/strong>. Present at the meeting were Thai Acting Prime Minister Prawit Wongsuwan<\/strong>, Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet<\/strong>, and observers from the United States and China<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As the current Chair of ASEAN<\/strong>, Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim facilitated the negotiations. At a press briefing, he announced that starting midnight on July 28<\/strong>, the ceasefire would take effect without any conditions. He described it as \u201cthe first step toward de-escalation and the restoration of peace.<\/strong>\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet<\/strong> told reporters, “It is time to rebuild trust,<\/strong>” while Thai Acting Prime Minister Prawit Wongsuwan<\/strong> emphasized that the meeting was conducted in a spirit of “goodwill and mutual trust<\/strong>” and affirmed his commitment to preserving peace.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the joint statement<\/strong> issued after the talks, Malaysia will form a monitoring team<\/strong> to ensure the ceasefire is properly implemented. Both countries have also agreed to reestablish direct communication<\/strong> between their Prime Ministers, Foreign Ministers, and Defense Ministers<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Thailand-Cambodia conflict<\/strong> has claimed the lives of at least 35 people<\/strong> along the shared border, and over 270,000 individuals<\/strong> from both sides have been displaced from their homes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\ud83d\udccc\ud83d\udccc 3. Two Men Arrested Along With Stolen Motorcycle in Launglon<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to a statement released by the People\u2019s Security Team of Launglon Township<\/strong> in Tanintharyi Region, two male suspects<\/strong> were apprehended along with a stolen motorcycle<\/strong> in Launglon Township.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Following a report lodged on July 24<\/strong> by the motorcycle\u2019s owner, who had experienced the theft in a village within Launglon Township, a joint operation was launched involving members of the Launglon Township People\u2019s Defense Force (Pa La Pha), local village defense units<\/strong>, members of the Pa Ka Pha Zone 3<\/strong>, and village administrative authorities<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the operation, two men were arrested in possession of the stolen motorcycle<\/strong>. The suspects were taken into custody, and the motorcycle was returned to its rightful owner<\/strong>, according to the official statement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\ud83d\udccc\ud83d\udccc 4. Temporary Closure of Six Roads in Maukme District for Urgent Bridge and Road Repairs<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

To expedite the repair and reconstruction<\/strong> of damaged roads and bridges, and to clear traffic disruptions<\/strong>, the PSLF\/TNLA authorities in Maukme District<\/strong> have announced the temporary closure of six major road segments<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The closures come in response to continuous heavy rainfall<\/strong>, landslides<\/strong>, and flooding<\/strong>, which have caused extensive damage to bridges<\/strong> and resulted in transportation blockages<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To enable timely repair works, the following roads have been temporarily closed to all traffic<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. Maukme \u2013 Kyaukme Road<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. Maukme \u2013 Mongmit Road<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n

  4. Maukme \u2013 Thabeikkyin Road<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n
  5. Pyin Oo Lwin \u2013 Oum Matee \u2013 Oum Makhar \u2013 Mine Lone Road<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n
  6. Takawng \u2013 Twin Ngai \u2013 Mongmit Road<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    All types of vehicles, both large and small, are prohibited from using these roads between July 29 and August 5<\/strong>. Private vehicles<\/strong> will be permitted to travel again starting August 6<\/strong>, while cargo trucks and heavy vehicles<\/strong> will remain restricted until further notice<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
