The event was organized and led by the CRPH\/NUG Support Group NSW.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During the meeting, Dr. Sasa discussed the NUG\u2019s commitment to the complete eradication of the military dictatorship in Myanmar and emphasized its core priorities in implementing a federal democratic transformation. Abbot of Yadanar Pugan Monastery dies in custody after unjust detention by junta<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>July 26<\/strong><br><strong>Radio NUG<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Sangha Union (Mandalay) has announced that the abbot of Yadanar Pugan Monastery in Mandalay, who had been unjustly arrested by the terrorist military junta, has passed away due to torture-inflicted injuries and inadequate medical treatment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The abbot, U Pa Thanthiya, succumbed to cancer on July 25 at Mandalay General Hospital, following prolonged mistreatment in prison. He was initially unlawfully arrested by junta forces on the night of February 21, 2022, and later sentenced on July 17, 2023, to 15 years in prison under Section 50(j).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It was reported that the torture he endured in custody led to the onset of cancer. On October 15, 2023, he was transferred to Mandalay General Hospital for treatment. However, due to a lack of adequate medical care, he passed away after two years of imprisonment at the age of 36, with 16 years in monkhood.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Sangha Union (Mandalay) stated that the death of Sayadaw U Pa Thanthiya, along with other political prisoners, without proper medical attention and under repressive control, is a deliberate killing by the terrorist military junta.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>They further declared that the unlawful arrest, inhumane torture, and other brutal actions committed by the junta against monks and civilians will be resisted in solidarity with the people until justice is achieved.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>========================<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\ud83d\udccc\ud83d\udccc&nbsp;<strong>4. Thai military seizes Cambodia\u2019s Phu Makhuea hilltop base; Cambodia urges ceasefire<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>July 26<\/strong><br><strong>Radio NUG<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Clashes between Thailand and Cambodia over a disputed border area have entered their third day. Thai news sources reported that the Thai military has seized control of the Cambodian military base on Phu Makhuea hilltop.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At approximately 9:20 a.m. Thai Standard Time on July 26, Thai forces captured the base, hoisted the Thai flag, and during the assault, 10 Cambodian soldiers were reportedly killed. According to Thai media outlet&nbsp;<em>Khaosod<\/em>, weapons including AK-47 and M16 rifles, machine guns, RPGs, 40mm launchers, and drones were confiscated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Cambodian forces reportedly attempted to recapture the base using heavy artillery. However, the Thai military maintained full control over the surrounding Phu Makhuea hill area, deployed heavy weapons, and destroyed Cambodian outposts and communication rail lines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Following two days of fighting, Cambodia issued an immediate call for a ceasefire. Cambodian Ambassador to the United Nations, Chha Heakio, stated that Cambodia seeks to resolve the dispute through peaceful means. However, the Thai side has not responded directly but expressed a preference for direct bilateral talks, according to the Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While ASEAN member states, as well as China and the United States, have offered to mediate the conflict, Thailand has reportedly rejected any intervention from outside parties.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The fighting has forced tens of thousands of residents on both sides of the border to flee their homes. Casualty reports state that 15 civilians, including several non-combatants, have been killed on the Thai side, and 12 on the Cambodian side. Additionally, stray shells reportedly damaged several homes inside Laos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>========================<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\ud83d\udccc\ud83d\udccc&nbsp;<strong>5. 13 individuals arrested for drug trafficking and use in Mogok and Thibaw by Ta&#8217;ang National Police<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>July 26<\/strong><br><strong>Radio NUG<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to reports, the Township Police Force of Ta\u2019ang National State under the control of the PSLF\/TNLA arrested a total of 13 individuals\u20146 drug dealers and 7 drug users\u2014in Mogok and Thibaw Townships.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At around 10:30 a.m. on July 23 in Mogok, a surprise inspection led to the arrest of drug dealer Ko Phone Myint Naing (aged 36), who was found in possession of one bottle of eye drops containing heroin, 200 yaba tablets, a mobile phone, and 1,080,000 kyat in cash.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Further searches in the Lelu ward uncovered additional drug users. At one residence, Ko Yu Phu, Ko Twan Chi, and Ko Akhwa Ae were caught with 24 yaba tablets and other drug-related materials.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Additional surprise inspections were conducted in Ingyauk and Pan Lin villages, where drug users Ko Lauk Yu, Ko Lauk Han, Ko Hamin Kyaw, and Ko San Tha Kyaw were arrested.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Similarly, on July 22 in Thibaw Township, a surprise inspection led to the arrest of drug dealers Daw Hwan Oo, Sai Win Htun, Myo Min Oo, and one other male suspect. They were found with 5 soap containers of heroin and 11 packs and 26 loose yaba tablets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Moreover, at around 2:00 p.m. on July 23, U Hla Aung (aged 52), another drug dealer, was apprehended with 11 small packs of yaba tablets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>All those arrested for drug trafficking and usage are currently being held by the Ta\u2019ang National Police, and legal action will be taken against them in accordance with anti-narcotics laws.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>========================<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\ud83d\udccc\ud83d\udccc&nbsp;<strong>6. In Namhsan, a mother dies after ingesting pesticide in suicide attempt with daughter<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>July 26<\/strong><br><strong>Radio NUG<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to a statement from the TNLA, in Namhsan Township, located in Brigade 9 territory of Ta\u2019ang State, a mother and daughter attempted suicide by ingesting pesticide, resulting in the mother\u2019s death.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The incident occurred at around 7:00 a.m. on July 23 in a tea plantation hut in Ahtet Manlwe Village, Namhsan Township. Following a domestic dispute, a husband and wife\u2014U Aik Kho (42 years old) and Daw Ei May (33 years old)\u2014argued, after which the wife and their four-year-old daughter both ingested pesticide in an apparent suicide attempt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The husband subsequently transported them for medical treatment, but due to the severe toxicity of the pesticide, the mother did not survive. The four-year-old daughter is still undergoing medical care.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Additionally, on May 28, another suicide case was reported in Namhsan Township: a 24-year-old man died after ingesting pesticide, reportedly due to mental distress caused by family-related issues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>========================<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\ud83d\udccc\ud83d\udccc&nbsp;<strong>7. Protest held in Yangon against junta&#8217;s planned election using earthquake relief funds<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>July 26<\/strong><br><strong>Radio NUG<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In response to the junta\u2019s plans to hold an election funded by earthquake relief donations, the \u201cRevolutionary Siblings of Yangon\u201d group staged a protest in Yangon with a banner that read:&nbsp;<em>&#8220;Reject the sham election held with earthquake relief funds.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The protest aimed to denounce the military council\u2019s misuse of emergency relief funds\u2014meant for public recovery from the recent earthquake\u2014for the purchase of weapons, the bombing of villages, and illegitimate election preparations to cement its grip on power.
