A commemorative shirt-hanging display<\/strong> was held in Yangon on the second anniversary<\/strong> of the executions of Ko Jimmy, Ko Phyo Zeya Thaw, Ko Hla Myo Aung<\/strong>, and Ko Aung Thura Zaw<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to a statement from the Youths\u2019 Union – Central<\/strong>, the shirts were hung in a public park in downtown Yangon on July 23<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Today, July 23, marks three years<\/strong> since the tragic execution of Ko Jimmy, Ko Phyo Zeya Thaw, Ko Hla Myo Aung, and Ko Aung Thura Zaw by the Myanmar military regime led by fascist coup leader Min Aung Hlaing<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As students and youth, we continue to resist and fight unwaveringly toward a new way of thinking and a new world. Through this symbolic shirt, stained with the blood of a student activist, we honor these fallen comrades \u2014 Ko Jimmy, Ko Phyo Zeya Thaw, Ko Hla Myo Aung, Ko Aung Thura Zaw \u2014 and all other heroes who gave their lives in this Spring Revolution,” the statement reads.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The White House announced<\/strong> that three draft bills aimed at sanctioning the Myanmar military junta<\/strong> have been approved by U.S. congressional committees<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While Myanmar junta leader Min Aung Hlaing<\/strong> is reportedly attempting to normalize relations with the U.S., on July 22 (U.S. time)<\/strong> \/ July 23 (Myanmar time)<\/strong>, the U.S. House Foreign Affairs Committees approved three legislative proposals targeting the junta for sanctions and restrictions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The three proposed bills are:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

No Funds for Burma Act (H.R.4423)<\/strong> \u2013 prohibits financial support from reaching the Myanmar military junta.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

BRAVE Burma Act (H.R.3190)<\/strong> \u2013 imposes sanctions on businesses linked to the junta.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Burma Genocide Accountability and Protection Act (Burma GAP Act)<\/strong> \u2013 aims to hold the military accountable for genocide and war crimes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

These bills are now set to be submitted to both the House and Senate<\/strong> for final approval. Observers note that the absence of opposition within the committees suggests a strong chance that they will become law.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Experts on Myanmar affairs state this development not only reaffirms U.S. solidarity with the people of Myanmar<\/strong>, but also signals a renewed and concrete commitment to democracy, justice, humanitarian support, and efforts to end military rule<\/strong> in the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Representative Huizenga<\/strong> from Michigan announced on his social media page that the BRAVE Burma Act<\/strong> passed the House Financial Services Committee<\/strong> by a unanimous 54\u20130 vote<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The No Funds for Burma Act (H.R.4423)<\/strong> would:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Block the World Bank from providing financial assistance to the junta.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Prevent international financial institutions from transferring funds to the junta.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The BRAVE Burma Act (H.R.3190)<\/strong> includes:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Increased sanctions on state-owned enterprises and the Myanmar Economic Bank.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The NUG France Office<\/strong> has raised a total of 800,000 Euros<\/strong> over the past three-year period<\/strong> through a variety of fundraising efforts, including NUG Pay \/ SDB top-ups<\/strong>, the People\u2019s Revolution Fund (PRF)<\/strong>, and other campaigns<\/strong>, according to official reports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“In these three years, the NUG France Office has raised a total of 800,000 Euros<\/strong> through NUG Pay\/SDB top-ups, PRF initiatives, campaigns, and various fundraising projects. This amounts to over 4 billion Myanmar Kyats<\/strong>,” stated Nan Su Mone Aung<\/strong>, representative of the NUG France Office.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Within that amount, top-ups to the Spring Development Bank (SDB)<\/strong> made through Revolution Money (RM)<\/strong> over the past two years<\/strong> alone accounted for over 190,000 Euros<\/strong>, according to the same source.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\ud83d\udccc\ud83d\udccc 5. Wa Region Rescue Officer Dies While Trying to Save Drowning Victims in Flood-Hit Mong Pawk<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

In Mong Pawk<\/strong>, a town in the Wa Self-Administered Region<\/strong> in eastern Shan State<\/strong>, a rescue officer from the Wa State Army (UWSA)<\/strong> was swept away and drowned while attempting to rescue individuals caught in strong floodwaters, according to a statement released by the United Wa State Army (UWSA)<\/strong> on July 23.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Heavy rains began in Mong Pawk on July 20<\/strong>, leading to flash floods<\/strong> on July 21<\/strong>, particularly from mountain runoff. By 5 a.m. on July 22<\/strong>, the flooding had worsened, reaching into the town area and sweeping away vehicles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the statement, a white vehicle<\/strong> carrying several passengers was swept away by the current. A Wa police officer<\/strong> tried to rescue those trapped in the vehicle but unfortunately, both the officer and the vehicle occupants perished<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The rescuer has been identified as Police Officer Qin Hua (also known as Ai Qin Hua)<\/strong>, a 27-year-old officer<\/strong> from the Judicial Committee of the Mong Pawk Police Department<\/strong>, UWSA confirmed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Qin Hua sacrificed his precious life while trying to protect the lives and belongings of the people,” the UWSA stated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The statement also noted that due to the extremely dangerous flood conditions, several trapped individuals unfortunately lost their lives, which the UWSA described as tragic and deeply saddening<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Local residents have confirmed that at least three people have died<\/strong>, though some believe the death toll may be higher.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
